Appears to work, but I put it in a box anyway
I had an outdoor fountain plug that I connected with this thing. It says water tight, but I didn't believe that and neither should you. To make sure I put the plugs into this device then everything in a plastic storage box and then under a rain cover. It hasn't failed yet with my extra protection over it.

Works well
I usually just put tape over outside cord connections, but since I’m planning to use this all winter I thought a more permanent and safe solution was the way to go and this is duh easy to connect and I feel much safer.

Absolutely not waterproof, but it is weather resistant
This cord connector/lock is definitely not waterproof. The 2 halves screw together and there's plenty of room for water to get in/through, HOWEVER, if you put your cords in this, screw it together, and keep it level and out of any low points/mud/running water, it is likely to keep most of the moisture out, and it does lock the connection together, and they provide a foam rubber gasket to go between the power connection as well. We used this to connect a water trough heater to a heavy duty extension cord. I put a rock underneath the connector and then covered the whole thing just to try to keep any rain out, and everything stayed dry. Works well enough I'll continue to use these/get more as we need addition outdoor power connections. Would be nice if there was a "larger" style for bigger plugs, but this works for normal extension cord connections.

Does the trick...
In years past, I would get really frustrated with our Christmas lights. I would go out in the cold, hang web lights over the bushes, lighted display pieces in the grass, etc. I'd hook them up to a timer and it would all look nice. Then we'd get a decent amount of rain, and suddenly the GFI was tripped and no more lights. After the rain, I found myself out in the cold trying to figure out which connection of cords had gotten too wet and tripped the GFI. Then I took to using household plastic wrap to protect every place that two plugs went together. That worked well, but not perfectly. Inevitably we'd get a decent soaking and there I'd be, poking around in the wet and cold trying to figure out what the heck went wrong THIS time. Inevitably, this would happen the night we had the family over, so we looked like the Scrooges who were too cheap to turn on the lights or too bah-humbug to have put any out. Really ticked me off. Thinking maybe some of the old light sets were the problem, we replaced everything that was more than a season old. Nope, still had trouble when it rained. I think my wife was pretty sure I was turning into the father from A Christmas Story, given all the growling and grumbling erupting from me every time the darned lights went out... I was about ready to give up on Christmas lights. This year, we've minimized. We have a spotlight shining on the front door, two lighted trees on the front porch, and a lighted wreath on the front door. This little contraption is covering the one exposed connection between the timer and the spotlight. So far, the combination has worked every night despite some significant rainfall. Although these little devils aren't cheap, they do seem to do the trick. If you're sick of your Christmas displays going out all the time, you may want to invest in a few.

Not what I expected...
REVIEW OF: Farm Innovators Cord Connect Water-Tight Cord Lock I bought three of these for my icicle lights. I tuck the section where the plugs connecting strings together are, into my gutters. That’s probably why almost every yr I lose at least one string of them. I researched the cord connection protectors and thought these would be the best to protect them from water. I think they will work. I’ll find out this holiday season. I should add they have a piece of foam that you slide over the male plug to attach it to the cord and then place it over the prongs before plugging the two ends together for extra water protection. That’s the pros. Now for the cons: They are very hard to open up when you take them out of the package. You need to be very careful attempting to open them because the little nubs on one side, or the joint for the slot , that snaps into the openings on the other side, can break very easily. We ended up using a letter opener to pry or push down on the male sides to separate it (unsnap it) from the other side with the slots they fit in. A thin screw driver would work as well. This was just faster & easier to grab at the time. Then, once you have your plugs inside, you have to squeeze hard as you try to snap them together again. I got two of them but needed help on the third one because I didn’t have the strength in my hands to do it. If your plugs are larger than the ones on Christmas icicle lights, they may not fit inside. I had to manipulate them to get it closed again. A larger 3-pronged plug I don’t think will fit. Also, I would think they should have a rubber gasket at both ends where the cords enter the two pieces of the cord lock. I have a nagging voice that keeps saying: “but… can’t water get into it around the cords the way it is?” I guess, again, time will tell. I didn’t expect the hard, rigid plastic they’re made of. I guess I thought they’d be made of rubber and think they would be better if they were. I would probably not buy these if I were going to be opening & closing it all the time but for my use…. I won’t take them apart and remove them from my strings of lights when I take them down after the holidays. I’ll simply leave them attached— that’s assuming they’ve kept everything dry and still working properly. Three stars because of fragility and difficulty opening and closing up again.
