Good for the low cost

This is a cheap voltage detector. It detects voltage as long as it's right next to the line (which is fine), but feels flimsy and the red light comes on by itself every time I jostle the unit causing me to have to retest the line to see if it's just a bad connection in the device or actually a live wire.

too sensitive

The one I had previously (a freebie from a distributor) would light only if very close, this was useful if you have several wires to determine which ones are hot. This unit starts glowing 6 to 12 inches from a hot wire so it's impossible to discriminate which wires are hot.

I thought it was a good tester when I bought its sturdy and has a flashlight,the problem is it does not have sound and will tell you that the circuit is hot even if its not as it gets a reading from the neutral,so if you want to find out which wire is hot and which is a switch wire,,it does not work if you want a tester to tell you if its on or off,it works but if you have to trace wires its pretty useless as it will light up even if theres no power on a wire don't use the clip as it makes the cover open, for not much more you can get a tester that buzzes when theres a live circuit or which wire is hot,this one does not

Great entry level AC voltage tester

Been using this product for over a year doing DIY home electrical work. If you are using to test a single light or wall socket...absolutely perfect (and quite sensitive). If you expect to use this around several circuits (like a circuit breaker box), you might run into issues with the unit sensing spurious non isolated voltages. The DV20 is very lightweight...which users complain as being built flimsy. I disagree. If you want a more professional one or are picky...spend more money and have at it. 9/10 times most electricians either lose these or let a buddy borrow it...never to see it again. For most general single circuit testing...this will save yer arse from being zapped or causing sparks.

It stopped working after a month

It was working good, then after just a month started working, changed batteries but still not working. I’m wandering if it’s still in the warranty?

Sorry, dieses Gerät eignet sich nur für Hobbyhandwerker die Strom großräumig aus dem Weg gehen wollen. Auch wenn es sich nur um Kleinspannung eines Glühwürmchens handeln sollte, zeigt dieses Teil bereits an. Für praktische Anwendungen in der Elektrotechnik also völlig ungeeignet. Leitungseingrenzung, Verlauf, spannungsführende Ader suchen; keine Chance!

Finger weg!

Dieses Gerät muss nur geschüttelt werden,damit die angepriesene rote LED leuchtet.Sogar bei einem allpolig abgeschalteten und ausgebautem! Cerankochfeld warnt das Ding...Messbereich angeblich over 100Volt .Wer ne Taschenlampe braucht,bitte...Leider geht mit 0 Sternchen die Bewertung nicht weg.....
