Good, Smart, Simple, Great for accent lighting
I purchased 2 of these to use as lighting elements for my office to make my videos and work-from-home meetings more visually interesting, and to light the room when I don't want to have a more direct light on. I bought them expecting to dislike them and want to return them -- now I'm looking at investing in 3 more. PROS - +1. They work! the light they produce is (fairly) even. This is even smoother if you're mounting on the back of a bookshelf and bouncing off a surface like a wall and ESPECIALLY if you can get an inch or two of space between your bookshelf and the wall. +2. They're nice and long - the 2m length runs the length of my shelves and even wraps around a little bit. (I wish it was safer/easier to shorten them, but that could probably be said of most LED strips.) +3. The app just freaking works* -- I'm using Android. Once they're connected*, the Control Center app on my phone (Android) allows me to make the lights separate colors, or control them together. That's a REALLY big deal -- not having to set each one individually saves a ton of time, and the app is VERY intuitive once you get the lights linked onto your WiFi. +4. They're NOT bluetooth -- which means I don't have to, say, disconnect from headphones to try to change my lighting! (Yong nuo I am looking right at you buddy.) CONS -1. The price. Elgato stuff is pricey -- but the catch is, the Control Center makes it worth it. (These are actually making me reconsider the Key Light, which I used to think were just horrifically expensive compared to the Yongnuo panels I have. Then I tried to control those Yong nuo panels with a bunch of 3rd-party apps and realized how big a deal app control really is.) I think the cost is offset by the fact that the app, again, works*. -2. Connecting these to my WiFi wasn't intuitive and was slightly problematic. Not sure why, but adding them to wifi from my phone didn't work particularly well. Downloaded the Control Center app for Windows, and that turns out to be GLITCHY. It even seemed to make my wifi behave a little strangely -- a reboot fixed it, but keep this in mind. (You only have to do this part once, though.) -3. They're not Bluetooth. They ARE wifi, so you can't use these without a wifi network in place -- so keep in mind that if your wifi goes down, you're stuck with whatever lighting you had or manually unplugging them. -4. No extenders are currently available (March 2021). -5. There's no way to add more distance between the control brick and the strip itself, so if your situation means having the little white box is going to be an issue, you can't run a "blank" strip of wiring. Not necessary for me but something to be aware of. -6 The power bricks on these are way bigger than you want them to be. Interchangeable power plugs are cool and all, but since I don't intend to travel with these, it makes it convenient for Elgato -- at the expense of the bricks taking up too many spots on my power strip. Again, nit-picky, but a real concern when considering whether or not to have *5* of these things in my office. THE VERDICT Yes, I would recommend these to anyone willing to have a couple of minutes of patience during setup. Once they ARE set up, they work wonderfully and add a great visual element to videos or work-from-home meetings. App control is easy and actually pretty fun, and the fact that you can choose whether to link controls or use each one separately -- and save presets for future reference -- makes setting this up for video time a snap. NOTE: I haven't yet used the adhesive backing to attach these to my shelves.

Really bad flicker, not very bright
I compared these directly with the Govee M1 and the Amaran SM5C. I recently purchased the Elgato Stream Deck Plus which has knobs, so the idea of getting Elgato light strips for my Youtube studio space was enticing to be able to control everything from my Stream Deck natively. The control on the Stream Deck was pretty good - although I'm sure it'll get better as the make updates to the new SD Plus. Outside of that though, these feel like really basic LED strips that you could buy for significantly less money if you didn't need the Stream Deck integration. Ultimately they weren't bright enough for use in my background and even though they say they are "flicker free" that was not my experience in testing. Especially when filmed at 120FPS they performed very poorly. I shoot B roll on a table that is partially lit by an LED strip light, so that was important for me. The Govee M1's ultimately won out. Govee has a Stream Deck plugin if you are on Windows.

Works within the ecosystem
Yes, I know, the obvious response to this product is "too expensive!" and judgment befalls upon all who would dare purchase such a thing. It's not a bad argument. There's a lot of other cheaper versions--indeed a lot cheaper--that cover a similar basic feature set. That's not a review of the product to say that, though. I work from home going on a few years now teaching graduate level courses online. I spend 1-4 hours on Zoom every workday, and record lecture videos and other tasks for online teaching and administrative work. I have the key light, key light air, and stream deck (12 button). Pricey, yes, but they entirely work. Over the years I've had the key lights and stream deck they have given me zero problems. They allow me to adjust my lighting in the midst of video calls and recording without fiddling with my phone. They keep wifi connections better than just about any other device I have. I can also control them with a phone app or pc app with ease. Yes they are more expensive but they are high quality that can be depended on. I moved homes (and thus my office) and have built in cabinets above my desk. This light strip really seems designed for my use. Very simple to install and I found the tape to be more than adequate (though I had to be careful to peel off just the backing and not the whole tape. Turned on right away, connecting to wifi was extremely easy, and getting it onto the stream deck was just as easy. Everything just works, works well within the ecosystem, is dependable, and it's bright enough to light up my desk for reading. Crazy amount of color options, of course, and easy to adjust in the app, both any color and any shade of white. There are a lot of other LED light strips for cheaper and if you you're just wanting effects or accents and not really looking to trust them or easy adjustment they are likely a better option. For me, and my needs, this made sense and I'm pleased to be able to control all my lighting from one dependable app and my dependable stream deck.

The quality!! A must have when you own a stream deck!
The media could not be loaded. Bought this as a Christmas gift for my fiancée and he’s literally in love! He has an elgato stream deck and the key lights which they go so well with his set up. He can control the lights from his phone, PC and stream deck. They are incredibly bright, we can have all the lights off and turn the white LED’s on the highest setting and it’s as if it’s a regular ceiling light. If you’re debating getting these… you won’t regret it! They come with 6.5 feet of lights and with the extension it’s an additional 6.5 feet (13 feet total as seen in the photo). Very easy to install with the connectors and the adhesive is extremely sticky so you don't have to worry about them falling down.

An appalling rip-off
I'm shocked by this. Elgato is a well-regarded company, but something has gone horribly wrong with this particular product. I bought it as part of a set, with a light strip and a light strip extension. I assumed, given the number of pieces included, that it would allow for some options. I literally can't even create ONE of the joins I wanted to. My goal was (I thought) modest: adapt the light strip (with or without using the extension) into a shape like this: |___| All to lie flat along the same surface. So two apparently simple L-shape joins. Looking at the product image, seemed very reasonable. Nope. I cannot even create a single one of those two corner joints with the connectors provided. As far as I can tell, I would need to buy an additional two sets (at £17 each!) to create this shape. The set seems to be designed to provide every option to adapt ONE end of ONE strip in a particular direction. Which means if you're joining a cut you just made, you almost certainly need two sets. And a shape with more than one join, at least one additional set if not two. Which makes them astonishingly over-priced - a complete rip-off. Not impressed.

as a light it worked OK - until I tried to change the configuration and use their overpriced and oddly assorted connection kit: since then the controls stopped working; cannot switch it off with the app or fully control colours. the connectors kit is a rip of that creates unnecessary waste - you need to get the whole kit even if you only need one. there is not enough of pin to female connections so they expect you to keep buying more. more waste for the planet. more money for Elgato :-( I was about to switch all lights to Elgato - now going back to proper photo brands that know what they are doing. pity as it was the only one not made in China.

++ Update: nach wenigen Wochen zeigen die mit dem Connector Set verbundenen Light Strip Segmente kreuz und quer unterschiedliche Farben an, weil die Klemmverbinder regelmäßig den Kontakt verlieren. Mir bleibt jetzt nichts anderes, als den Schrott zu löten, da man bereits gekürzte Strips natürlich nicht mehr zurückschicken kann. Ich werde versuchen, diese unbrauchbare Ware als defekt zu reklamieren ++ Das Connector Set ist leider ein schlechter Scherz; dass es verglichen mit Drittanbietern schamlos überteuert ist, wäre ja noch zu verschmerzen, wenn es denn sinnvoll zusammengestellt wäre und vor allem passen würde. So hat man eine sinnlose, teure Ansammlung von Pfennigartikeln, wo immer etwas zu viel oder zu wenig ist und man am Ende mehr Sets kaufen muss als eigentlich nötig. Hätte ich keinen Zeitdruck gehabt fertig zu werden, hätte ich es definitiv zurückgeschickt. Aber über den Preis könnte man ja hinwegsehen, wenn zumindest alle Teile zueinander passen würden. Es ist nicht möglich, einen Eck- oder T-Verbinder mit einem gekürzten Light Strip zu verbinden, ohne sowohl den Richtungswandler als auch den Klemmverbinder mit einem Skalpell o.Ä. passend zu machen und nach dem Verschließen des Klemmverbinders mit Heißkleber zu fixieren. Am besten hat man auch noch eine Heißluftpistole, um den Klemmverbinder vor dem Schließen vorzuwärmen, damit er etwas nachgiebiger wird. ECHT EIN KRAMPF! Und dass ich bei einem 10 Meter Lichtsystem für insgesamt 180 € (Grundset plus 4 Verlängerungen) noch weitere 60 € hinterherwerfen muss um das Ganze zusammenzustückeln, schlägt echt dem Fass die Krone ins Gesicht! Das ist eine solche Unverschämtheit von elgato. Hinzu kommt noch, dass die Lotbrücken an den Schnittstellen der Strips so schmal sind, dass man mit Lupe und Lineal schneiden muss, damit man nicht eine Hälfte des gekürzten Strips wegwerfen muss. Schande und Verrat!

Son las primeras luces led que compro. Me hacía falta una luz para ver algo cuando utilizaba el ordenador por la noche y esa ha sido la solución mejor en lugar de comprarme una luz de escritorio que ocupa espacio. Para instalarlas tienes que tener un dispositivo con wifi, un portátil o uno smartphone. Personalmente las he configurado desde un portátil. Las piloto desde el ordenador y ilumina lo suficientemente bien el espacio de trabajo/juego. Ademas me he comprado un perfil de aluminio para montar la mitad (1mt) dentro el perfil que da hacia arriba detrás del escritorio(y no se ve), y el otro metro pegado por debajo del escritorio y de esa forma tengo una iluminación que no molesta cuando juego, suficiente para ver todo lo que hay arriba y abajo del escritorio. No quería comprar algo de barato sino algo de muy buena calidad y he optado por esta marca. La verdad, extremadamente satisfecho con la compra y volvería a comprarlas. Son caras, pero pagas por la calidad del producto. Seguramente más adelante me compraré también un stream deck de elgato.
