EGO Trimmer Head replacement is Easy-Peasy!
I have the the EGO ST-1500 trimmer, which I really like, and after years of service, the String Trimmer Head wore down so much that I had to replace it. If you order this replacement, the included instructions are over-complicated, which at first scared me off. To Replace: 1. Remove the old Spool Retainer and Spool as if you're just putting in some new string. 2. Pop-off the old "Bump Knob." It can be just pull it off, but if need be, use a screw driver. 3. Use a 1/2 inch socket on the Spool Base retaining nut. The instructions are really bad trying to explain 16 steps (yes 16), and there's also some dude on YouTube using an angle grinder to remove the Trimmer Head, which is not only overkill, but it's either purposely misleading or the guy just doesn't know what he's doing. The instructions also say to use a glove to hold onto the Spool Base when loosening the 1/2 nut, but if you have weak hands from arthritis, injuries, or an other reason, use a large screwdriver like I did.

Easier to install than the larger OEM bump head. Holds less line; won't last as long.
I like the size, easier for me to install and fill with line than the original bumphead. But the original disintegrated, had to have a giant washer J.B. Welded to the bottom to get through the last season (I have an acre of Scotch thistles). This one is already showing its age after one season--I may give it the same treatment, no doubt not recommended by the maker, but it works for me. The Ego bumpheads all need to have a metal or Kevlar component integrated into the bump button for greater durability, in my humble opinion. Otherwise they are fine machines, as many know.

Fits Ego string trimmer model ST1500
I needed a new head for my EGO ST1500 and wasn't sure about this one after reading the reviews. My concern was that some reviewers said it did not fit the ST1500. Well, in fact, it does fit the ST1500. It took me about 15 minutes to replace the old head, and if I had to do it again, probably take less than 10 minutes. It is simple, even though the instructions are a bit confusing. It tells you how to remove the old head, but the instructions don't say to disassemble the new head, just to replace the flange that the previous step told you to remove. It is obvious what you need to do, but the instructions could be a bit more clear. The 4 star rating is because there is a flat washer that is supposed to go in the base, around the compression spring (figure 10), but my new kit was missing this washer. I used the old washer and it works fine, but there was supposed to be one with the new kit. I also read some reviews stating the head does not last long. I expect this one to hold up... I've owned several string trimmers and this is the first head I've had to replace. Perhaps it is mainly how you treat it. I've seen some people keep the head on the ground, on concrete and other hard surfaces, and run it at max RPM. If you keep it off the ground, only bump it on the ground to advance the string, and don't run it any faster than necessary, I expect it will last a long time. Your mileage will certainly vary. If this one doesn't last long, I will amend my review.

Wrong Part
While I am not giving this 3 stars for being the wrong part, I am giving it 3 stars as even if it were the right part this is a cheap not so great part. Problem 1: EGO does not clearly illustrate which trimmers their parts work with. You might say but, it says works with this model? And that is true, but, the trimmers don't all have that model, and some have unique odd models that aren't listed for any of their parts. Note: in my research this looked like one that would work with the ST1502, it does not. Problem 2: The part is cheap, worth $10 tops, its doesn't have any great features, winding it is a pain, and it fits my trimmer but, really doesn't work as the depth for the nut isn't deep enough for the locking portion to work, so it spins itself off as the nut cannot lock on the wax lock like it's supposed to, if you tighten if far enough to lock, its so tight it doesn't spin and while this is heavily due to it not being the right part, it's almost exactly a fit, and yet, barely doesn't work. Plus it's cheap so don't recommend this to anyone. I would go as far as to say, if you buy EGO, be wary, while it's a great quality tool, their support sucks, I reached out to them and have heard nothing back about which part should work for my trimmer, and it would appear that my trimmer at three years old doesn't have a replacement part available, which isn't great for a tool company as I should be able to get parts for several years. Especially a basic part like a trimmer head. Don't recommend EGO to anyone who wants access to parts for more than a few years, and to anyone who expects them to actually respond to support requests. Which is sad because I do like the tools and the build quality.

Perfect replacement part
Fit my EGO perfectly. Super easy to install, less than 5 minutes. Seems a little pricey for a replacement trimmer head, but better than having to buy a brand new one.

Misinformation (update)*
This is not a replacement part for the ST1501-s cordless string trimmer. * The cutting head will fit on the ST1501-S string trimmer, but... You will need a #14 deep socket wrench to remove the entire original head. Probably best to bring the original trimmer to a hardware store just to make sure that's the size. You'll also have to apply a good amount of elbow grease to pull apart the replacement head before it can be attached to the trimmer. This might take some time and it'll feel like you are about to break it. Inside the replacement there is a much smaller nut, along with a spring, that can be attached with a 1/2 socket wrench pretty easily.

Nice. Happy
Super! I attached the Erbauer EGT18LI, they match perfectly, they are identical to the one from EGO. I didn't expect to find this detail (considering that the Erbauer company does not sell parts for its products).
