Best home improvement I've done in years
I've done literally hundreds of home improvements in the 12 years since I've owned this home. You name it; I've done it. But I can't overstate the convenience of having instant hot water at our kitchen faucet. It's a long way from the main water heater, and before this under-sink small tank upgrade, would take two full minutes to get hot water there ... which of course wasted a lot of water while waiting and waiting. With this small under-sink tank, the kitchen faucet now runs hot water within a second, and it's marvelous. I should've done this YEARS ago. I had no big issues with the installation plumbing. The big orange store had an extension flex hose to connect to my faucet hot water input. And I bought a 48 inch flex hose to connect from the hot water outlet at the wall to the cold water input of this heater. One minor complication was for the drain exit. I had to "T" into the drain from my garburator to the P-trap ... but again the big orange store came through with the appropriate T fitting. The wiring was a little more work. There was a preexisting 120V outlet under the sink, but I found that both of its outlets were switched with the garburator switch above the countertop, and it would be next to impossible to drag another wire through the existing wall. So I changed the original garburator switch to an extra countertop outlet (GFCI), now feeding always-on 120V to the original garburator outlet box under the sink. I installed a new garburator switch (with proper box) at the front of the cabinet, so that it was easy to run the new wiring inside the cabinet (properly shielded and secured of course). And then I did a split-outlet under the sink, with the top one switched on/off using the newly relocated switch, and the bottom one always on for the new tank heater. Took a little while (and yet another run to the big orange store) but it works well. Anyway, again, I wish I'd made this home improvement years ago. It's really great to have near-instant hot water at the kitchen tap. And I'll save a little on my water bill too.

What it's good for... and not
This review is for the 4 gallon model. These mini-tanks are really made for situations where you have a remote water heater, and you have to wait for hot water. They are not well suited for general use. That being said.... I have a broken hot water pipe in the foundation, and wanted a temporary solution for the kitchen sink. Our water temp is around 65 degrees. I gave this a shot. With this set to the max setting, we can do some dishes, but if the sink is full - after a large family meal - the hot water runs out. Even when running at a trickle, or shutting off between washing / rinsing, it can still run out. It's far better than nothing, and it works for me as a temporary solution. We adjust the way we do dishes, by doing small batches at a time. Remember you have about 4 gallons of hot water, and as soon as you start using it, the hot immediately begins to mix with cold water. By the time you have used ~ 2 gallons, you have effectively run out of "hot" water. The small heating element is made for longer recovery times - like 15 to 20 minutes. If you do intend to use this as a "point of use" water heater, it would work in a bathroom sink for washing hands; or a 1 or 2 person household that does not have tons of dishes. It would be great for a garage / outdoor sink - washing hands before you enter the house, etc. Or a laundry tub where you would do small quick rinsing, etc. This will never work for a shower, or dishwasher, washing machine, or anything that uses a significant volume of hot water. Unlike a larger water heater, the output temperature drops quickly as soon as you start using it. The cord does have a standard plug on the end; it is about 3 feet long. It works in a standard 120v outlet, you don't need anything special. Remember if you plan to install in the kitchen, most outlets under the sink are switched (for the garbage disposal), so keep that in mind. If you connect this to your faucet with typical rubber supply lines (sink or toilet type), you do not need dielectric nipples as the instructions recommend. The output pipes are iron, so if you do connect direct brass fittings, you need a dielectric. It comes with the necessary PRV, check local code for use. Many people vent this straight into the drain line, which is not up to code and a good way to contaminate the PRV and blow up your drain if/when the heater vents. And yes, this is the exact same heater as Rheem, just a different label and case color. My one complaint is that the inlet / outlet fittings were super dirty with thread cutting oil and remnants of thread. It took some careful cleaning to get that stuff out. The PRV fitting was also contaminated. That some pretty poor quality control, one star off for that because I was able to clean it without much hassle.

It was good while it lasted.
This unit comes with a 5 year warranty for leakage and a 2 year warranty for parts. It worked great for 2 years, then it stopped heating. The customer service department was easy to reach and very nice, but no help since it was out of warranty. I guess I got what I paid for.

Good unit but came with dirt and grease in threads
This unit is compact and works perfectly for us as an under sink (kitchen) unit in line with my main water heater to help get instant hot water as my main unit is a long run from the sink. Came with a TPR valve (some have said theirs didn’t. Mine did). Minus 1 star because the threads in the inlet and outlet and the TPR port were covered in a grease/wax that I’m pretty sure was from the thread cutting and it doesn’t seem to be water/food safe. I cleaned it well and rinsed the tank a few times so I felt comfortable with it but it was disappointing to have to do that work and also concerning about the workmanship. It has a temp mark on the reostat for 125°F but nothing beyond that. Would be nice to have a digital read out.

The water can get really hot, which is great.
The shower in my house especially in winter can be luke warm at it's hottest setting, got this to give it a boost. Takes about a 3-10 min or so depending on how cold the water going in is to heat up fully but when it gets hot, it can get HOT. It's great. Sometimes the indicator light turns off when I forget to turn it off after my shower but I realize that it's just telling you that it's currently heating up the water. If the water is already crazy hot it stops and the light turns off...at least that's what I think. Would not test that and always have it on and heating, turn if off after use. Pretty good all things considered.

Good Heater
I bought the 6 gallon heater for the tack room in my barn. It was easy to install and is working well. Of course it does not have a huge capacity, but it reheats quite quickly so it works for me to fill horse buckets, do some chores and then return for more hot water. We had a 24 hour power outage and the water was still hot after 24 hours, so the tank must be very well insulated. After doing some research I opted for this rather than a hot water on demand system and I am very satisfied.

I don’t like wasting water waiting for the hot water to get to the kitchen sink.
I am saving water by getting hot water immediately in the kitchen. Also the dishwasher Gets the hot water immediately so it can do its job with hot water rather than lukewarm water. My water heater is 50 feet away and it takes almost a minute to get hot water to the kitchen
