I'm relieved.
I am 6'2" and 387lbs. I've had two pregnancies of weight gain and loss and a lifelong love affair with food. Ample hips make airplane seats, waiting room chairs and small car doors closing intimidating if not embarassing. Weight loss would be ideal. However, in three days I will have double meniscus repair surgery. Outpatient. No weightbearing on left leg for six weeks. No bending knee for two. The loo I will have access to does not have space to extend the legs. This chair JUST fits at the helpful angle. I feel secure seated and when using arm rests to push back up. Keep 2 to 3 inches clean water in bucket to make it easier to clean out. My husband had this assembled in a few minutes.

THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
This chair has changed a life. Holds and fits a 6'7", 400 pounder like a troop tank. Pay no attention to reviews that pail don't fit right and drops out and seat gap pinches or the back falls off. The only way those things could happen is if you try to use the splash guard with the bucket and it raises seat up too high. Splash guard is only used by itself over a toilet, not used when using the bucket as a bedside unit. When used bedside, insert 1 or 2 drawstring top trash bin liners inside the bucket and out through the seat hole and over the seat, put inside that 1 or 2 plastic grocery bags with the tie loops out the top too, crumple up a single sheet or two of newspaper, stuff inside the bags, dump a couple cups cheap kitty litter on the newspaper, or better still, get pine pellets from tractor supply, 10 times cheaper, lighter and more absorbent and odor control. If male, and can, use a urinal container and flush liquids, or not. Do the duty, add some more kitty litter or pine shavings (recommended), tie off the bags as needed and dispose of like a diaper bag in the trash. Works best with with 4 or 5 gallon trash bags too, got from Amazon, hard to find local. Always keep it prepped and ready for use, takes just a minute. And speaking of prepping, if a Katrina incident ever happens and you lose the bathroom facilities, this chair could mean the difference between sanitary survival and having to burn your house down due to other possible outcomes. Anyone old enough to have used an outhouse will see the immediate function of this chair, read the book about humanure. Also works great in RV's, campers, tents, hunting camps, motel travels, it folds up, no parts to loose. Very little clean up, a quick spray of Lysol keeps it fresh. Tall or short, fat or skinny, young or old, wheelchair or crutches, this can and will change your life! Also, evacuation of bowels with height adjustments possibilities of chair can alleviate many other symptomatic problems too. Every home with anyone of special needs should have this chair. Don't waste your money on any other kind, style or size, get this- it will be handed down or can be resold, will last a lifetime. Seat, lid, bucket and splash guard all replaceable if needed, and cheap. Good luck and God bless.

The seat is smaller than you think - overall high quality - works with Double Doodie bags
I purchased this item to replace a smaller portable toilet that we use at our cabin in winter (no water, no septic). The pluses are that the frame is super easy to assemble with no instructions needed. It is also very sturdy and you can adjust the seat height by moving the legs up and down. It is a high-quality product. The minuses are that the seat is smaller than it looks. It is not a "standard" size circle, but about 2/3s of what you expect. Other reviewers give you the details on why this is not ideal. I like the design, but the seat makes a disturbing "Crack" sound when it is sat upon. We've used it a dozen times with no broken parts, but the sounds make us wonder if it will last. Also, the design is flawed in that if you place the cover under the seat and then sit down bad things happen and it will break. If I were shopping again, I'd look for one with a larger seat and beefier plastic parts. We use Double Doodie bags in the container and it works pretty well with them. Again, the small size means the bag is in contact with parts of you that you don't want to be contacted while in use.

Highly recommended, and update after using a while, great. Buy this.
Excellent overall! I really like it for daily use. Easy cleanable splash guard protects the back of your pants. Update mid Sept. and Feb. 2017: Love it. Easily placed over my commode and easy for anyone to put together. Yeah, the seat is a little thin but it is not noticable unless you are putting it together. It has a lid that snaps on like the seat, is very heavy to move around (don't plan on traveling with it). Adding a real seat and lid can be done but adds weight and is not necessary. Check the fit if you have a very small space. It is very easy to set up, wipe yourself, and to run the splash guard under the sink. I always use One drop, or Just a Drop or Poo-Pouree to stop any odors. Your seat and lid just need to be lifted, and this just sets over your toilet. However I did remove the seat and lid move the unit back a few inches to not trip over a leg in a small toilet room. This is great and I use an Amazon (by Drive) portable riser to travel with, again, you just raise your seats and just set it on the porcelain; white, plastic just like the Vive and both this and the white plastic riser can be rinsed under a sink faucet. The white riser does not work on my son's Crane toilet. This unit is only gray in color, which is all my wife complains about. She won't share why she won't use it. It is very easy for me but I sit down to pee. Very easy to use and clean. If poop gets on it, it is easy to wash off. A spray bottle of water can easily clean it instead of putting the splash guard under the faucet or in the shower and it works well.

Great value for product
Was doing a complete bathroom reno and needed a toilet until new one was installed. Bought this instead of a portable camping toilet. Being a guy I would use a urinal to pee in and use this commode for bowel movements. I would line the bucket with a 22" x 24" garbage bag so I never would have to scrub out the bucket. Just tie and toss the bag. Very sturdy and well build.
