Worth the purchase

Bit punches through 3 railroad ties at a time with no issue. Chuck size is 7/16 on it so just be aware of that. Helpful hint for those without a 7/16 chuck driver, use an impact to run it down using a 7/16 socket, put your drill with a chuck on the bit and use that to extract. As long as your drill can handle the chuck size it will pull the bit out. Just be ready for the bit the whip of the drill. Drilled 8 holes through triple stacked ties and the bit still looks new.

Great for ocasional use

The bit (DMS73-1060) 18 in ships Auger is good for the price you pay for it, but it isn't a really high quality bit. There were chips in the spiral out of the package, nothing that would diminish the functionality of the chip ejection, but it doesn't say good things for either the steel quality or the manufacturing process, or both. The cutting edge was somewhat sharp with a rough grind on it (I have high standards here) and will obviously dull with use. But, since I didn't want to pay $80 - $200 for a good one, this is a good alternative for what it will be used. If you are going to use it every day, invest in a high quality bit, if its for occasional use, this one should suffice. I will say it looked better than many others I have seen in this price range.

Great auger

High quality auger. Easily cut through 12 inches of pressure treated lumber like a knife through butter. Would definitely buy again.

Nice bit for the money

Started using this instead of a spade bit. This bit means business and works well on our M18 fuel drills but should probably be used in a corded drill. Satisfied with the product.
