It works

I needed to connect my DEWALT orbital sander to my DEWALT DXV12P Wet-Dry Vacuum.. DEWALT does not expect that this vacuum be used for this purpose as they sell a specialized vacuum for connecting to commercial tools. To solve the problem, I first purchased the DWV9000 to connect to the sander. This worked just as advertised, but would not connect to the 2.5 inch hose. After purchasing the DWV9190 I could connect to the vacuum hose, but needed to reduce the suction as it was stressing the vacuum. I drilled a half-inch hole in the DWV9190 to relieve the suction pressure and everything was fine. The vacuum provides all the suction needed for the orbital sander and air-flow from the unit was vastly improved with no overheating of the motor. FOR THE ENTREPRENEURS OUT THERE - invent a connection like the DEWALT 9000 but with a hose connection for 2.5 inch hose with a air adjustment to reduce airflow to the tool and I am sure you will have buyers.

Screws into a DWV9000 tool port adapter to connect it to a 2 1/4 " shopvac airhose.

This is an adapter to an adapter. Screws into the DWV9000 tool port adapter to make it possible to connect that to a common 2 1/4" shopwac hose (such as a large Ridgid Vac) possible. Likes: It is a good solution. The combo works reasonably well. If you want an easy solution, and do not mind throwing money at the problem. this is the way to go, and this is what I did. Dislikes: You need to buy 2 adapters (this, and the toolport adapter), spending over $40 to accomplish this simple task. If you are a DIY type, you can probably Rube Goldberg something together that "sort of works", for a third of the money.

You need two parts to attach this to your DeWalt orbital sander 6423k.

I wanted to attach my DeWalt Orbital sander DWE6423K to my Rigid shop Vac. The large end of large hose adapter DWV 9190 fits on my Rigid Vac, however, you need to also purchase DeWalt universal quick connector DWV 9000 which attaches to the port on the sander. When I finally received both pieces it didn’t seem to fit properly. It seemed like the sander port on the orbital sander was much to small for the DWV 9000 universal quick connect. The DWV9000 Universal quick connect has a lock and unlock along the rim which you can see underneath the rim. You have to twist to the lock position to secure the quick connect to your DeWalt orbital sander 6423K. Also you need to turn (screw) the small end of the DWV 9190 large hose adapter into the smaller end of the universal quick connect DWV9000. If you attach the Universal Quick Connect DWV9000 to the sander and then screw this Large Hose Adapter DWV9190 (small end) into the DWV Universal quick connect (small end) it screws into it by turning it left rather than right. finally you push the large hose adapter (DWV9190) onto your shop vac hose. I am not mechanically inclined. I figured I would add this point for others.

Doesn’t fit the dust port on the Dewalt DW745 table saw

I like that the adapter fit tightly in the Stanley Wet/Dry vac hose. Unfortunately it did not fit the dust port on the DW745 10” table saw. Still required duct tape to hold the connection. Will try another adapter that will slide onto a 4” Dust port.

Great Piece. Why did DeWalt make you buy 2 Pieces?

I finally got tired of dealing with the clouds of dust from my DeWalt saws and sanders so I broke down and bought this piece. It does work pretty well but I have to say I was disappointed that DeWalt makes their diehard fans buy 2 pieces because neither functions without the other. For those looking, you need DWV9000 to connect to the tool itself and this item DWV9190 to connect that connector to your standard ShopVac hose. In the end, I am happy with it and you will be too!

As Described

I used it to connect my Bosch router table to my DEWALT DCV581H shop vac. However, both dust ports are 2.5” so I needed an additional Powertec 70148 Dust Control Flex Cuff with Hose Clamps, 2.5” to hold everything together.

Works as advertised but overpriced

This Dewalt DWV9190 works as advertised and it connects my Rigid 2.5-inch vacuum hose to yet another Dewalt adapter (DWV9000). Dewalt's system of adapters is poorly thought out and overpriced. I spent $57 on two plastic adapters for my $89 sander.
