Fine with modification... probably
So when I read the reviews here, I looked at my tub and thought, "Yeah, that looks straight. It should be fine." Reader, it was not straight. I suspect basically any tub or shower, unless you added a tiled half wall or something custom built, will not be perfectly straight, which makes this a terrible design. At the very least, they should give you shims or a couple options for the pads. As it is, they don't and the attachment doesn't hinge and the gap on tubs is on the side that needs the most support in a fall outward so it's a bad, potentially very dangerous product. Maybe it deserves less than three stars for that. However, that doesn't mean it can't be modified relatively easily to be sturdy, which is why I'll keep it. As most cyclists know, used tire tubes can work miracles. I'll probably redo my install of them because I secured the device and then stuffed the tubes in (and it would be more secure to stuff and then tighten), but you can see that I've fixed the gaps with a few inches of tube. I have one layer of tube (a full round so 2 technically?) with a folded over tube above on the inner side. Then I put one layer on the top toward the inside of the tub where there was a gap. Now I can lean my body weight on it and it's not going anywhere. The metal screw in the middle feels like it would break before the whole thing moves. Ask as your local bike shop/cyclist friend for an old tube or buy a new one off Amazon for $5 or so and this works perfectly fine. If you care about appearances, the black isn't ideal, but you can trim it more neatly than I have and it will be mostly out of sight. If you are very heavy or are substantially taller than my 5'7", it may not be secure enough for you so give it a good shove to test for yourself. Speaking of height, I'm 5'7" and will be using this for showers while I have ongoing vertigo and I wish this was about 2" taller. They obviously had to make this a set height and your needs may differ but I wish the top part were a smidge taller. One final gripe...I bought this new directly from Amazon and was sent one that was labelled new but that had been clearly ripped open (as if someone opened it carelessly) and then was taped up. That's not the product's fault necessarily so I'm not changing the rating, but you might want to purchase the Amazon Warehouse version if it's available and save yourself the $3-5 if that's what they're going to send anyway. I would be tempered to return mine as damaged and order the cheaper one if it wasn't such as waste of fuel and UPS's/my time to return. They also sent it in an absurdly large box containing a more normal size standard shipping box so you may have to apologize to your delivery person... Again, not the product's fault but something that may inconvenience you.

Tub side must be at least 3.75" in width for this to work
The description did not give dimensions of the width of the tub side in order for this to work. Under the questions, a person said it would work for a tub side that was 2-1/2' in width. This is not correct. The tub side must be at least 3.75" in width for this to work. My tub size is 3.25" in width. Very disappointed.

Works fine minor Issues
If your an average size person and average weight it will be fine. 300 lbs or 6ft plus call a Handicap supplier and let them install one for you. This is a decent product and works fine. Minor install issues but if you have some mechanical skills not a big deal.

Would have given 5 stars except for
Rubber pads needed to be reglued to stay put. It comes with some kind of peel and stick stuff on the Pads but they slide off. Needed to reglue. However l really like the low profile. Good alternative to drilling holes in your tile for those grab bars. If you just need something to hang onto for support getting in and out of the tub. This rail is great.

Not the best, but it will work
This took a little bit to install since the nuts are so close that I couldn't put a ratchet on it and the enclosed wrench wouldn't turn but so much at a time. Even at it's tightest, it moved a lot. If this is for someone that only needs a little bit to steady themselves, it will probably be fine. But is someone needs to put much of their weight on it to get in and out of the tub, I would advise getting something different.

For straight sided tubs
Bought this for my Mom. The sides of her tub are not parallel; i.e. the outside is vertical but the inside slopes (gets wider from the top down). Will be using wedges but don't believe that it will be as sturdy as a tub with parallel sides.

You NEED this if injured or shaky!
A lady I adore fell in the bathtub. It became unnerving to get back in for her pain was great! A second lady fell in her bathtub and this was the beat of the best. BOTH are beyond pleased and comforted that they have a 'hand' and maintain their confidence and privacy. It is more secure than you would expect. I am PLEASED and ENCOURAGED that this made a difference in their lives and shall purchase more for others who are in need.
