Amazing rice cooker
I love rice, but have never mastered how to cook it in a pot the "normal" way. I've had multiple people show me how and tell me it's so easy to cook rice in a regular pot, but we clearly have different definitionns of "easy," or I just have some secret skill that makes me fail at cooking rice in a pot. I resorted to the boil-in-a-bag kind of rice because that was the only way I could get it cooked properly, without it burnt to the bottom and crunchy and the mushy in other spots. Then, enter this rice maker. I followed their instructions and filled their measuring cup with rice up to the line, added it to the pot with some salt, and then filled their measuring cup all the way with water, dumped it in, and pressed the "cook" button. (I did not rinse the rice; no one in my family does and I had no idea it was even a thing. Its never affected how my rice cooks, so I don't intend to start doing so either. I did expect it to take less time initially...not sure why), but when it did flip from "cook" to "warm" and I checked the rice, it was done perfectly. Nothing burned to the pan, no mushy spots, just fully cooked, delicious rice. I've followed the same procedure every time and gotten basically perfect rice every time. If you don't get to the pot right away, the rice will start to get a bit brown on the bottom and cook together a bit, but when you add butter and other food to the rice I've never noticed a burnt or bad taste; just that it's a bit more stuck together than usual. I have had a few occasions where it did start to boil over, and that's generally when I accidentally spilled water when adding it to the pot and guestimated how much I split and probably added more than it needed. Otherwise I've never had it boil over or make much of a mess at all, maybe beyond a few splatters... which is much less mess than I ever got making rice in the stove, where it would constant boil over, so I have no issues with the occasional splatter. It's cooking...there's sometimes a mess...that's just how it goes. Regardless of whether it boils over or not, it's super easy to clean; I just use a dishcloth and soapy water and any starch or other residue comes off quickly and easily. Again, far less time spent cleaning the cooker pot than I would spend cleaning an actual pot of rice, were I to attempt to do so, so I have no quarrels with that either. I just make sure to plug it in some place that isn't right next to something I don't want accidental rice water on (textbook, Alexa, phone, etc). I've should note I've only ever cooked rice in it despite owning it for years. Gluten free noodles take forever to cook on the stove in general and since I tend to make a big batch at once, using the Dash for noodles just hasn't made sense. And I don't eat oatmeal all that often, nor quinoa or other such things. Despite being basically a one function appliance for me, I'm perfectly happy with it because I can finally have good rice whenever I want, and not the stuff boiled in a bag. Also, I've used this in multiple places throughout the country, and have never had to change my regular procedure much, if at all. (Granted, I've never cooked rice at a super high altitude, so maybe that would require alterations to my process.) Aside from cooking rice perfectly, the Dash rice cooker just looks cute. Mine is red (to match my other kitchen appliances and decor/accent colors), and even when I had a microscopic kitchen the thing as hardly a concern because it's so small that it doesn't take much counterr space when using it, nor much space to store it. Though...once you buy the cute little Dash rice maker, you might end up with their little waffle maker and a few other Dash appliances, so storage space may eventually become a concern! If you're second guessing buying the Dash rice maker, I'd just go for it. It might take some experimentation to get enough water to cook rice but not boil over everywhere...but having tried to scrub boiled on stains and gunk from the stove from a "regular" pot of rice that boiled over, cleaning up after the Dash is still far easier and quicker. Plus it's basically set and forget; once you figure out the timing for the pot of rice to cook, it's easy enough to ask Alexa to tell you to check the rice in X minutes, and then you won't have to hover around waiting for the switch to flip over to "warm" (or nervously stare at the pot and hope it turns out okay!). You get 1-2 servings of delicious and perfectly cooked rice (depending on if your serving size is eating all the rice you cooked, or saving half of it) for very little effort and monitoring, and can focus on the rest of your meal...or Netflix (no judgement here!).

Great little device! Versatile!
This device is perfect if you are living alone and need to make portions of stuff for one. I have used it for rice, oatmeal, pancakes and heating up corn from a can. For rice (Nishiki), you need to use about 40% water vs. rice (0.7 : 0.5 cups) to get the right consistency, this is higher than the water ratio in my much bigger rice cooker. Despite that, it cooks in less than 30 mins vs. my larger rice cooker 45 mins, so besides time this is also an energy saving. I botched the oatmeal prep the first time, the milk overflowed out of the cooker creating a mess (tasted fine), but sure I can get it to work. I was more surprised that this made a perfect thick pancake from combination regular and buckwheat mix in one shot - about 5-6 mins per pancake, you don’t need to cook it twice like in the manual. Lastly, used it as a no muss, no fuss solution to heat up some canned corn, straight out of the can, worked great! The one thing I wish is it would ring a little bell to let you know when it’s done, you have to keep checking the light. Also, no on/off switch but that seems to be standard for low-cost appliances these days. These are small quibbles though, great product!

This is BOMB!!!!!
I have had this rice cooker for a few months now and it is a GAME CHANGER in my house! No more soggy rice or hard dry rice. No more minute rice. This is so easy to use and doesn't take up much space in my kitchen so it's easy to store away. I personally only like using it for 1 cup of white rice. The other recipes didn't work for me. But that's ok, I have the perfect little rice cooker to make an easy side dish while I cook a meal. Best purchase I made this year. I use it multiple times a week! I added pictures of all the new recipes I have gotten to try with it. Rice came out perfect every time :) and you can use left overs for fried rice the next day!!

Perfect Rice but...
My son is a huge rice eater so the single serve minute rice is not enough but two servings is too much. Love that it's the perfect amount of rice but what I don't love is that when it's done cooking it immediately goes into a "warm" mode which cooks the rice on the bottom until it burns. To counter that I have to pull the plug immediately when it goes to warm mode and serve immediately. The good thing though is that it's INCREDIBLY EASY TO CLEAN, so even though the bottom browns, it's not caked on or anything. Also, I've never had a rice cooker so it takes some time to cook, like 30-45 minutes? It's not instant, but the rice is great.

Why did I wait so long?
I am totally happy with the DASH mini rice cooker. First I tried Jasmine rice, perfect rice without having to do anything more than dump water and rice in the pot and press cook. Then I made a sausage rice faux jambalaya, again perfect! Then I made a small cake with 1/3 of a cake mix. Mixed it as normal and put batter in the greased pot. It took a couple (maybe 3) cycles and again nearly perfect. It did fill the entire cooking pot and was a tad soggy on the top, so maybe 1/4 package of mix would be better and put a paper towel inside the lid to absorb the drips. This is one appliance that will definitely be purchased again if or when it no longer works.

Very hand for rice and oatmeal for 1-2 people.
Not everyone has a large family. Some people prefer simplicity and smaller appliances. No complaints. It's handy. Normally rice takes 20 mins to cook, but first you have to boil the water. This machine takes 30 mins. Yes, calling 3/4 c. a cup is inaccurate, but using that cup as directed made a perfect amount of rice for two. Only buy this if you're feeding no more than 2 people. Nonstick pan is a breeze to clean. Just soak in water and rinse. No dishwasher needed. Lid covers fine. Like that I can see inside. For best results, rinse rice first in a screened colander. Takes out excess starch so rice isn't sticky or gummy. Add 2 pinches of salt to water, mix in rice, press a button. Light switches to warming light when it's done. Just unplug to turn off. We use it several times a week. It's idiot proof.

In love
I have tried everything to make rice in a pot work on the stove. Every tutorial, every bit of advice and it always sucked. It would be raw still then complete mush 30 seconds later, so I honestly gave up on rice. My boyfriend however, loves rice so I decided to give this thing a go. Not only does it store perfectly in my small apartment, made rice last night and it was amazing. Incredibly easy and came out perfect. The amount it makes is great for two people and I couldn’t be happier. I kept calling the boyfriend over to stand and watch the rice cooker make magic happen with me. 10/10 love this little unit. Finally gonna start cooking with rice ????

Easy to use, saves space, good for small 2 person servings.
As the title says, it's a good little machine that saves space and does the job. I've mostly cooked rice on it but I've also made little pound cakes and small servings of soup when I was sick. Costand space effective plus easy to clean.

Perfect for two people. Love it.
I use this product for rice & quinoa. The product is so simple to use & clean. The first time I used the measuring cup that came with the cooker but it made too much rice which lifted the lid. Later, while reading the booklet it came with, I came across info that stated the measuring cup is not accurate. Since then, I use my regular measuring cup & have not had any further issues.
