Good

Nowadays most new sink drains are junk. I recently bought a new one because the old faucet had residue. The new drain pipe snapped, so I had to use the old one. Anyhow, the metal rod was breaking down, so it was not catching on the plug. This was easy to install. Took a little adjustment, but is working very nicely.

Works as expected

I think it's funny that Amazon wants to know how many stars I'd give for "easy to install" or "easy to use". This old lady had a hard time getting under the sink to install this, but, it's not this product's fault, any brand of this item would be difficult to install by me. It works. What more can I say? Oh, insofar as value for money... I have no idea. The metal parts will outlive the plastic parts I'm sure, but, all of these type items are constructed of the same materials. So, there you go.

Gamble Paid Off

I took a gamble on this as I couldn't find the ball dimensions before purchasing to be sure it would fit. It did. Very easy install. 3 stars simply because of the lack of dimensions being readily available.

Danco 88532 Universal Fit Pop-Up Drain Ball on Moen Faucet

This review is for the Danco 88532 Universal Fit Pop-Up Drain Ball. I used this on a Moen faucet. There are three different pop-up balls in this package. The smallest to largest measures 15.14mm, 16.22mm, and 18.38mm. The ball rod is about 6.5" long. There are two rubber cone washers. It does not come with the nut or rod clip. You will need to use the one that came off of your original or purchase them separately. In this installation process, I used a rubber jar lid opener to grip the ball while I screwed the ball rod into the ball with a part of channel log pliers. After putting the two together, I had to cut down the ball rod about 3/4". In my case the stem on the pop-up ball was longer than the diameter of the drain so I had to shave off about 2.75mm from the end. The rod clip that I had did not fit the rod that came with this package so I used a drill bit to enlarge the opening to fit over the rod. All in all it took about 30 minutes to install it because I didn't know measurements and how to cut it without damaging it. It works very well. I gave it four stars because of how tedious it was to customize in order to get it installed. The instructions that came with it were very basic and did not specify anything I spoke of above. Here are the instructions: 1. Remove nut that holds the old ball rod to drain. Retain nut and washer if applicable. 2. Remove washers that hold ball rod to pull rod assembly. 3. Slide new ball rod through pull rod assembly. Place cone washer on to end of ball rod as shown in image. (As I type this I just realize that you can use these if the rod clip does not fit) 4. Slide existing nut and washer if applicable onto new ball rod. 5. Select the ball that best fits the hole where the ball rod assembly and drain assembly meet. Slide ball onto ball rod (this actually should say screw with great complication if you use your bare hands) . 6. Reassemble ball rod assembly to drain assembly,

Product dimensions revealed!

Although this is a good quality product, I'm only giving it three stars because the manufacturer has failed to give the product dimensions. I've been trying to replace a drain rod and have been frustrated by the fact that the manufacturers of drain rods all seem to feel that the dimensions of their products are top secret until you purchase one. I've had to buy four drain rods before finding one that fits. This one (even though it purports to be "universal") did not fit for me, but it may fit for you. Small Ball: Diameter = 15mm (0.59in). Distance from edge of ball to end of gray rod = 30mm (1.18in). Medium Ball: Diameter = 17mm (0.67in). Distance from edge of ball to end of gray rod = 28.5mm (1.12in). Large Ball: Diameter = 18.3mm (0.72in). Distance from edge of ball to end of gray rod = 27.5mm (1.08in). For all balls, the diameter of the gray rod tapers from about 5mm (0.2in) where it meets the ball to about 4.5mm at the tip. The brass rod is 150mm (5.9in) in length and 5.5mm (0.22in) in diameter. When you screw the brass rod into the ball, it will go in about 4mm (0.16in). The "gotcha" for me on this "universal" drain rod set was that, although I found a ball that would fit, the length of the gray rod extending from the ball was too short -- it would not stay engaged with the hole at the bottom of the drain stopper stem. My suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make the gray rods longer because it's easy to cut them off if needed (they're plastic), but it's nigh on impossible to lengthen them. Also, it would be nice if the holes in the balls were threaded. Instead, they are smooth so you must force the threaded brass rod into the smooth hole and twist it until it's jammed into place (which is only about 4mm) -- doesn't seem like a very elegant or durable method of attachment.

Fit fine, no major issues so far

One of the ball heads in the kit fit fine. Like that it has multiple ball head options to ensure proper fit and that they are plastic so they do not rust. Reason I give 4 and not 5 stars is that sometimes during installation the balls came off the screw-on rod when I tightened the retaining nut (you won't have that issue with the single piece pivot ball rods). I probably tightened a bit too hard, so just be aware you may have to be a bit more sensitive to how hard you screw the nuts. Also, since the heads are made out of plastic the head tips are not as sturdy as their metal replacements. I noticed the tips bent slightly during installation. So far however no issues with opening/closing the pop up stopper or breaking the tips. For context, I have bought and installed 2 of these. One ~2-3 yrs ago, the other 2-3 weeks. No problems I've noticed so far. One more thing I'll note. First time I bought this kit it had more ball rod heads. They've obviously cost-reduced the kits by reducing the number. While I really don't need duplicates once I find the ball size I need (unless the ball rod breaks, say while screwing the rod in), it would be great if the company sold the screw-on rods individually so I can use the extra ball rods lying in a box in my garage.

Plastic, so it may last longer?

Compared to all the other replacement rods, this one is plastic going into the sink. Time will tell but it may actually last longer in sink since it doesn't rust like all of the other replacements I have purchased.

I wasn't sure the size of the ball joint would fit

This kit has 3 options for the ball joint so I was more willing to take a chance that one of the joints would fit. Perhaps the sellers could put up the diameter of the ball joint so that buyers know they are getting the right part?
