Protects well, kind of bulky
This case does exactly what you'd expect from Pelican. It's a bit bulky but it keeps your stuff safe. I purchased this to protect my laptop after my previous one had LCD issues (known eventually flaw in this model). It was simple enough to remove foam cubes to customize to the size of my laptop and I feel less worried that this display will be damaged.

This thing WILL protect your device!
I hate its big and unaccommodating size, I hate its basic and unattractive appearance, but I LOVE the ONE thing I bought it for... It protects the hell out of my $1500 ThinkPad!!!

Rugged case! fits Kindle Fire.
I purchased this case just over 1 year ago today. I had been looking for a case that would not only safely store my kindle fire, but protect it from being crushed while in my backpack. I had read in another review that the case fit the kindle fire, but still allowed the device to bounce or slide around inside. I ordered the Pelican 1055CC along with a QUBITS Tpu Gel Skin case to add a little thickness to my kindle fire so that it would fit more snugly. Once I received the Pelican case, I tested to see if the gel skin case added enough thickness to keep the kindle from sliding around, but it didn't. I then added a microfiber cleaning cloth inside the case and barely moves around inside. Even if the bare device were to slide around freely, this would not be an issue. The liner is padded on all sides and the device would not be damaged. I also tested to see if the case was waterproof by dunking it under the sink for about 30 seconds. After drying the outside of the case and opening it, I noticed that it was damp on one side. I then tried squeezing the air out of the case through the check valve so that the negative pressure would keep the gasket sealed tight. This looked promising, but the pressure equalized after about a minute and I could start to see the gaps on the side of the case widen. I think the problem might be the gasket itself as it seems to look closer to foam than rubber or silicon. Even though my case is not waterproof, it is still not an issue for me. For the first 9 months of use I pretty much stored my case in my backpack, only removing it to use or charge my device. It is always sandwiched between either my fishing tackle, tools, photography equipment, camping gear, or whatever else I am carrying in my pack. The case has been dropped, tossed, squished, and bounced all over my Jeep. I bring it with me fishing, Mountain biking, camping, and pretty much everywhere I go up until 3 months ago. On our most recent road trip to some BLM land to go shooting, we found the gates locked. The trails were closed to vehicles for fire season, so we loaded up our gear, left the truck at the trail head and hiked it in. After I was dropped off at home I had realized that I didn't have my kindle fire. I had removed it to save on some weight and tossed it on the seat of the truck at the trail head. I called my friends and they couldn't find it anywhere in the truck. It either fell out or was taken at the trail head or gas station. I got another Kindle fire earlier this month and was about to order another case for it when I get a call from my friend a week ago telling me that he found it while looking for his glasses. It turns out that it had been wedged underneath his speaker box for the last 3 months. The case is a little scratched up, but the case and the kindle fire are in perfect working condition. If you're looking for a rugged case for your Kindle fire or 7" tablet, the Pelican 1055CC is it. As far as I can tell, there just isn't anything comparable out there for a 7" device. I absolutely love this case. Here are some useful dimensions: Pelican 1055CC Interior dimensions 8.55" x 5.52" x .85" (217mm x 140mm x 22mm) (rounded to nearest mm) Kindle 6" E ink reader dimensions 6.5" x 4.5" x 0.34" (166 mm x 114.5 mm x 9 mm) Kindle Paper white 3G dimensions 6.7" x 4.6" x 0.36" (169 mm x 117 mm x 9 mm) Kindle Keyboard dimensions 7.5" x 4.8" x 0.335" (190 mm x 123 mm x 8.5 mm) Kindle fire dimensions 7.44" x 4.72" x 0.45" (189 mm x 120 mm x 11.5 mm) Kindle fire HD dimensions 7.6" x 5.4" x 0.4" (193 mm x 137 mm x 10 mm) Nook Simple Touch dimensions 6.5" x 5" x 0.47" (165mm x 127mm x 12mm) Nook Color dimensions 8.1" x 5" x .48" (210 mm x 130mm x 12mm) Nook Tablet dimensions 8.1" x 5" x .48" (206mm x 127mm x 12mm) Nook HD dimensions 7.65" x 5" x .43" (194mm x 127mm x 11mm) Samsung Galaxy tab 7.0 dimensions 7.5" x 4.75" x .47" (190mm x 120mm x 12mm) Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0 dimensions 7.63" x 4.82" x .41" (193mm x 122mm x 10.5mm) Samsung Galaxy tab 3 7.0 dimensions 7.4" x 4.37" x .39" (188mm x 111mm x 10mm) Google Nexus 7 dimensions 7.81" x 4.7" x .416" (198.5mm x 120mm 11mm) Ipad mini dimensions 7.87" x 5.28" x .28" (200mm x 134mm x 7mm)

I have always liked pelican cases. quality you can trust.
The case is strong and of fine quality as you might expect, the only issue I have is there are no handles on it like the older models had. I just don't understand why most of the cases now don't have handles or have very cheap handles.

Fits Lenovo X390/X395/X13 Laptops and Lenovo M14 Portable Monitors Perfectly
I've used this model of case for years, and it fits the Lenovo X390 laptop and Lenovo X395 laptop perfectly, with the customizable foam trimmed, although there is not room for power adapter or other accessories. It will likely fit the Lenovo X13 laptops (the successor to the X390 I believe), but I have not tried it. With the customizable foam removed, it also fits the Lenovo M14 portable monitor well. This case is rugged enough for traveling and has survived airline travel as a carry-on and many rental car trunks. First-class product.

The DESIGN is different, NOT THE QUALITY!!!
I usually don't write reviews unless I am exceedingly exited about a product or the exact opposite. This review, however is different. I felt obligated to set the record straight since there seems to be a couple misunderstanding in the design. 1. The case IS water proof. When reading reviews, I saw many complaining of "gaps" in the corner, one deetadee even took pictures with coins sticking out of it! HA! While it superficially shows a gap big enough to fit quarters in, the edge actually seals under this gap. Another reviewer stated they dunked their case in water to test? Well so did I! I dunked the case in my kitchen sink. When I opened the case, the inside was completely dry, in fact, when the lever was released air THEN rushed out and pressure released like a soda can. Again, the insides are bone dry and no water has crypt in. I don't care if the corners are 2 inches apart, the case keeps water out. Is it made to go diving? Probably not but it will keep your device dry in a couple of meters or feet of liquids. 2. "Faulty" latch issue, ok? Another "issue" many speak about is that the latch itself is faulty. While it is true, these cases don't bare the traditional trunk style clamp latches that many have come to know in the Pelican brand, there is nothing "faulty" about the latch on this model. The one lever design actually renders the case very easy to open, which I am sure for the halfwitted, this can mean faulty but easy isn't "faulty". If you were to pry at this case, throw it in the air, flip it around, it's simply not going to pop open. In fact, if pressurized enough or of water comes in contact with the seal, mine will need to be pulled apart with force, even w/ the latch open. Furthermore, if you are concerned about your investment, the case is even designed to secure the latch wth a lock. So forget gravity, it'll even keep our thieves! The actually draw backs... While completely subjective, I think the main opportunity in this design is the overall size and weight. The case does its job but leaves my 13 inch MacBook as bulky as the biggest 15 inch whatever. Where it lacks in portability, however it makes up in price and durability. Seriously, they sell flimsy sleeves at this price point! Other than that, a lack of a true handle is also disappointing. While it comes with a shoulder strap, the size of this model begs for a traditional handle grip or at least an option for it. Lastly, the advertised photo shows a camper using their laptop right out of the case with the top flipped up and propped. You CAN'T really do this as the top does not prop up on its own. All in all, this case does what it claims. Where it truly lacks is in its overall design, meaning it does not bare the standard classic trimmings of what many consider pelican to be about. It's for this reason I believe other reviewers have spoken poorly about it, they see a new design and think "faulty". While I prefer the classic design/style over the new, there is no other product on the market currently that works this good. So basically, I put this case up again your clam shells and sleeves all day! Hope this helped? :)
