We use as a lifetime filter for refrigerators
This is a fantastic water filter. I'm a 35-year master refrigeration and appliance technician. License. Certified by the EPA license 608. I will be selling a lot of these Culligan filters as it does around 2500 gallons. As much as the ice maker filters cost for brand names like Frigidaire Whirlpool etc. The average cost of replacement for one of the name brands is $60 to $80 sometimes even higher. Great deal on this one. The manufacturers average 500 gallons for filter. I sell this is an alternative lifetime filter for the life of your refrigerator. Customers are happy I install it in line behind the refrigerator bypassing the current installed manufacturer unit. Simple process. if you're handy and you're tired of buying filters every 6 months this is your solution. When installing pay attention to which way the arrow points to get your water flow correct. Then just think it's water in - water out when disconnecting the lines to your current refrigerator ice maker. First off turn off your water to the ice maker completely at the wall. Remove the two screws out that mount your water inlet valve in the back. Pull the inlet out with the water lines attached. This is kind of tricky because you really need to know which line is going where. Most refrigerators will have water coming into the inlet then it is distributed to the filter and then back from the filter then it will be directed to the ice maker as well as the door for water. This is very typical. What's your bypassing is the trip from the inlet valve to the filter and back. When it leaves the inlet valve headed to the filter about 3 in after the inlet valve cut it right there you might have to use an adapter to go from 5/16 to 1/4" if you see that 90° elbow that I have on my filter that's the type of compression fitting you need you just slide the line in and it's very easy. I simply use gorilla tape and tape the inline filter to the back of the refrigerator once again make sure your arrow is pointing in the right direction. if you did all this correctly good for you you just installed a lifetime 2500 gallon filter and our saving hundreds per year. My name is Chuck Thompson I run Chuck's Appliance Repair Hot Springs Arkansas. The picture shown is how I have them ready for install before I go to a customer's house. Added line around 10 ft. which can be used in front or behind the filter. Most refrigerators you're going to have a 5/16 line from the inlet valve to the original fridge filter. See second picture to see how big that 5/16 looks. Then the third picture shows you the little fittings needed. These are angles I'm using but you can buy them straight 5/16 by 1/4 compression water connection. I buy them by the hundreds and keep them in all different sizes due to the extreme amount of filters we install. Those compression fittings are very reliable and usually come with a little clip that needs to be inserted as a safety precaution. Your refrigerator ice maker system does not have continual pressure on it. the only thing that has constant pressure is the inlet valve or the water comes to the fridge in the back. When ice is called for it releases and gives a little pressure as well as when people get water through the door. Those are the only times that filter will fill any pressure whatsoever. My point is when using this correctly as I have described you will not have any leaks whatsoever. Highly recommend you allow your current appliance technician to install this as I have described. I do this this way to save my customers a lot of time and a lot of money. if this information helped you and you have a minute toss me some Stars thank you.

what my fridge needed
The Culligan IC-100A Refrigerator/Ice Maker Filter is an excellent addition to any refrigerator with a water dispenser or ice maker. It is straightforward to install and has a compact design that won't take up too much space. This filter is designed to reduce bad taste and odor, chlorine taste and smell so that you can enjoy more transparent and better-tasting ice and drinking water. The built-in quick-connect fittings make attaching to your refrigerator's water supply line easy. You won't need special tools or plumbing experience to install this filter. The Culligan IC-100A is also very affordable and comes in one pack, making it an excellent value for its price. Overall, the Culligan IC-100A is a reliable and effective way to improve the quality of your drinking water and ice. It is also backed by a one-year warranty, giving you peace of mind if anything goes wrong.

Awesome, but proprietary carts (no surprise) keeps it from 5-stars
Disclosure: Bought from Amazon in Used - Very Good Condition for less than 20% of the current new price. I'm that guy that buys the cheap stuff, then leaves reviews. This one still had water in both the filters and the housing. Culligan yet releases another proprietary system. This one looks suspiciously like their EZ twist system - Ez1,3, and 4 compatible - but it's not. The two flow holes are the same, but the 3rd keying plastic piece is not the same. It is this "key" that prevents Brita, Dupont, Culligan, and AO Smith carts from interchanging into each others systems. 3rd party manufacturers of replacement carts (Waterdrop and Aquacrest are two brands that do this on Amazon) omit the 3rd key tab and only include the water flow holes and thus can fit into any of these brands. If the 3rd key wasn't there, any of these filters would fit and work in the other brands. The problem with the specific carts for this model are that they aren't very popular. Even though they seem to be EZ1 and EZ3 respective carts from the same brand, they won't fit in (unless that key tab isn't there). Of course, the non-OEM 3rd party brands work and I have been using these carts in a similar system with no probs so far. The unit is fine on it's own and as long as carts are available, it's a good system. It uses the 1/4" pressure inserts - which is very popular in undersink water filters. But this 1/4" system is touchy and has to be used correctly - or it will spring leaks. This is true for all systems that use this type of plumbing. I've set up many systems with these mounts, and when they work, they are great. But when they fail, it can be a disaster if no one is around to stop water from leaking into the surroundings. While setting this up, I'm reminded of overall how shoddy feeling the whole 1/4" pressure system is - but this is done for the purpose of simplicity. A proper plumbed setup would be more robust, but would probably also cost more than the actual new price of the filter system. Often, it takes a couple days of observation/refining connections to insure the 1/4" system doesn't have any leaks. However, once the system is setup properly, it functions wonderfully without any leaks. This system was well worth what I paid - and it will become a part of my filter system. However, moving forwards, any replacement carts I buy will be the 3rd party ones without the key. This system is equivalent to two single ones daisy chained - in a single housing. Since I often daisy chain 4 filters, I only need 2 of these rather than 4 singles. If this comes up again for a discount price, I would most def buy again. I'm really buying just for the housing and the filters that came with it are a bonus. I also buy Culligan/Brita/Dupont housings, if I see them for a substantial discount - with the intention of using non-OEM 3rd party filters after the initial included one wears out.

Easy to install. Water tastes great.
I've been using this for about 5 months or so. Took < 30 mins to install because I had no idea what I was doing, but got it done. Water tastes great, way better than our Brita pitchers.

Works great but leaks
Works really well in terms of cleaning the water, however it leaks alot around the top. I am not sure why this didn't come with a rubber seal. Even with a seal I bought from my local hardware shop it still leaks abit. Anybody else having the same problem, not sure how much more I can tighten the top.
