A Good Durable 2 Burner Countertop Stove - With a steep Heating Curve!
I bought the Cuisinart Cast Iron Double-burner to replace my Ovente double-burner after the heat knob for one of its elements began taking the day off(!) It either would not turn the burner on, or, would stay on, and allow it to get hot enough to melt the SUN. Compared to that departed Ovente, everything about this Cuisinart counter top feels better constructed and more substantial. The control knobs are much larger, and are clearly indexed for exact setting and smooth adjustment. The green ready lamps let us know when a desired heat setting is reached, and the amber on lamps warn you of a burner left on before you leave for work. It is overall about half an inch wider(left to right) than the Ovente, 2 inches deeper(front to back) and half an inch taller. Plus, a beefier three-prong grounded power cord. Yes, this thing is like a TANK, and it shows. Plan a space to set it up accordingly. As with my Ovente review, I recommend the following settings for specific uses: 5 - for boiling a pot of water for pasta, etc. 4 - for heating up a kettle(many kettles advise against maximum stove heat). 3-4 - Most general cooking 1-2 - Low to simmer 1 - Keep it warm! The biggest caveat: These are CAST-IRON burners, not infrareds, or coils, or inductive. So learning how they heat up might take some practice. While a regular coil-burnered full size range, or the Ovente burner, might heat up a pot relatively quickly, the Cuisinart heats up much slower, and, STAYS WARMER MUCH LONGER. That is why I took off one star, above, for temp. control. It will stay hot for up to 5 minutes after you turn off a burner, so whatever you are warming up or are cooking will continue to cook for several minutes after turning it off. Learn the warming curve of this appliance, and you won't go wrong. Cleanup is a little bit easier, with fewer gaps and crevices for spilled ingredients to get inside the Cuisinart. It's the stove I should have bought six or seven months ago, and now two weeks later, it has already paid itself off in our 'range-less kitchen'! :D

Working as expected
I have a very large and wide clay pot that I like to make soups and it fits on this burner. My soup recipes usually need to simmer for 2 hours and this electric burner is perfect for the job. I have gas stovetop at home but recently I heard from the news that some states will ban gas stove for sell due to health reasons. Anyway, 2 hours on electric will not produce unhealthy air in the house and that’s one of the reason why I bought this electric burner. I have to say when I used it for the first time, it produced plastic smell, not strong, but noticeable for about 15~20 minutes. The smell only happen for the first time use only and it did not happen again. Once it was heated up to 5 (max setting), it was boiling crazy. I had to lower down to 2.5 (between 2 and 3) after trying different number setting. My soup came out as expected and I am happy with my purchase. Potential buyer beware that the residue heat from the burner can last much longer than a gas stovetop burner if you never use an electric burner before.

Heats fast
The only negative I find is at present time is the unit will not heat oil to the 350 degree I like to fry fish, but everything else I have used it for is super. After I have used it more, I will try for the fish again and wait longer for it to heat before I put fish cooker on unit.

Highly useful
I don't have a stove in my cabin. I use this on average 3X a week more in winter. I've made everything from soup to cake. It does stay hot after you turn it off for a while so you can't just put it away like a air fryer.

Great find for use with my outdoor bbq
I was looking for something that could be used with my outdoor kitchen bbq to boil water, cook vegetables while grilling. This portable burner is just what I needed. It does take a little while to heat up and get the water boiling but once it is hot it works great. A little try and error to get the temperature just where I needed it but once I did the vegetables cooked fabulously. It is super easy to clean and store away.

Keep It Unplugged; Slow to Heat
Pros: Plug and play - doesn't get easier than this. Compact, fits in the small area I had available. Cons: Only five settings so it's hard to get the same kind of precise heat variation you'd have on a stovetop. The knob turns extremely easily, meaning I've accidentally turned it on by simply brushing past it (i.e. keep it unplugged when not in use). I didn't find the highest setting to be that powerful. It takes a lot longer to get to a boil and it doesn't hold it at a boil steadily because the element goes off and on to "maintain" the heat. Using the lower settings takes even longer to get up to temp. For example, I made mozzarella on my stovetop and it took about 15 minutes to get up to 88 degrees for the first stage. When I made it on this burner it took closer to 30 minutes.

Really Impressed!
I had glass top induction cook top, it lasted a year. It took forever to heat up, and was difficult to adjust the temperature. Once it was boiling it took a lifetime to get to where it would simmer. Hard to keep clean as drips cook on to the glass top and you cannot wipe them off completely-always a mark left on the glass. I love this cast iron top-heats up quickly, and is easy to adjust. I would buy it again.

You can’t beat a real stove
No matter how hard you try, you are not going to find an electric, plug-in burner with the heating capacity of a proper stove. This one is not bad, but a little small and still takes a long time to boil water. It’s the nature of the beast.

A pretty good little stove
Unfortunately like all 2 burner stoves it takes a long time to heat up. Also the lights showing that the burners had heated up to the temperature requested do not work well. This was the second stove I had because I sent the first one back because of the temperature lights. I couldn't send the second one back because I didn't have enough time to receive another one before I needed to use it. I found that the lights turned out not to be important because I put the food on the burner when I started it and cooked based on the food not the temperature.

It cooks
Good burner. Seems more reliable than other brands, certainly the conduction versions. Really good paper on the main element. Much more even heating than anything else I’ve used. Only complaint is rust. Is a bit of a pain to keep the element top seasoned. If you leave a pan on it you need to make sure it’s completely dry or it will rust overnight.

Excellent product
Since we have an induction stove our caner would not work on it so I bought this unit. It worked like a charm. Heated up the water relatively quickly and continued to boil the water during the processing period. Excellent purchase and I would highly recommend. A bit more costly than some alternatives but the 1800 watts prove it's value. I shopped around for quite a while prior to deciding on this unit. I expect to have this purchase around for a long time.

It is a Good Product
I got this because sometimes I do not want to use gas. Great little product. It heats up fairly fast and does everything it promised. High temperature is just that - high! Accurate indicator. I rarely use it at a 5(its hottest) 2 or 3 is sufficient. I have to get used to the fact that, unlike gas, takes a little time to heat up and once heated up it takes a long time too cool. It looks good and is easy to clean.
