Easy to clean, easy to use, and less expensive than glass bottles.
I liked that they are easy to fill. I also like the screw top. No bottle capper needed. The bottles also hold 25 ounces. So you don't need to fill as many bottles.

I am on my third re-use of these, for bottling batches of homemade beer, and have been satisfied. My only suggestion might be for a wider mouthed bottle.

Most convenient and reusable bottles.
I brew beer in 5-6 gallon batches which yields approximately 55 12-ounce bottles. Bottles are easy enough to come by: drink up a couple of cases of non-screw-cap beer and save the bottles; metal caps are readily available. What I find tedious is capping. One can purchase flip-cap bottles ($160 for 55); caps for one's saved bottles ($1.25 for 55) plus a capper ($13-150); or plastic bottles/caps ($30 for 30 25-ounce bottles). The turn off for me is capping: capping 55 reusable glass bottles with metal caps is a time-consuming chore fraught with failure, to say nothing of the abuse to one's hands. In my hands, at least 10% of the caps go awry and I have to redo them; some I don't catch and the beer is flat. Bench bottle cappers do a better job but, at $100 or more, I'm not inclined. Metal caps are out! Spending $150 or more for 55 flip-cap bottles is not my idea of prudence; one also needs to periodically replace the rubber gasket on the cap - if you can find them. Initially, I purchased a couple of cases of Coopers PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) bottles as a compromise: screw caps and only $30 for 30 25-ounce bottles needed for 5-6 gallons of beer. I won't go into it here (Google PET bottles) but the latest composition/coatings of PET bottles has overcome most of the objections to long-term storage in plastic bottles. Each bottle holds 740 cc (24.7 oz or two 12-oz bottles of beer); the included caps are the safety screw caps normally found on soft-drink bottles. To complete the brewing process, one fills 25-30 bottles (v. 55) and simply screws the cap on with no failures. As an added bonus, I've reused the caps (leaving the spent safety ring on the bottle) with no problems, although one can purchase caps for $6/75 caps (with the added hassle of removing the safety ring from the new cap or the bottle). Because the plastic caps are fitted with a compressible plastic liner, I find that I can drink a glass of beer and cap the bottle without the beer going flat in a day or so. I have not seen anything written about scratch resistance but I do not clean the PET bottles with the bristle brush I use on glass bottles for fear of scratching (and making cleaning/sterilization problematic). As soon as I empty a bottle I thoroughly rinse it, cap it, and then wash it in hot water at my convenience. I have only one very minor "complaint" which is not worth a rating down-grade: the bottle bottoms are not entirely flat but consist of 5 knobs or "toes." On a flat surface (table/desk) they are fine; on a refrigerator grill shelf, they are a bit wobbly and are easily tipped - a nuisance rather than a problem. In the end, my compromise turned out to be anything but: the modest cost, convenience, speed of operation, and excellent results make this a smart buy. Ed

The media could not be loaded. Years ago when I lived in Germany, I bought beer in PET bottles at the local ALDI. When I saw these on Amazon, I thought-- I'll try it. These hold 25oz, so slightly more than a traditional bomber. They hold a great seal and carbonate without ANY problems. They are lighter, cheaper and bigger than most traditional home brewing bottles, and these are all pros in my book. They reseal very well, so you can easily drink half a bottle, screw the lid back on and put it in the fridge. When you come back, it still has a perfect carbonation. Check out my video. I had half the bottle last night, and now it is still like new. I'm a believer.

Perfect for Carbonated Hard Cider
YET ANOTHER UPDATE: Been using these now for over 3 years - same bottles. Incredible quality. UPDATE: Still happy with these, but 1 bottle out of the 15 had a manufacturing flaw around the neck and wouldn't hold a seal. ORIGINAL REVIEW: If you've tried bottling cider or beer in regular bottles or Grolsch-style bottles, you know what a pain bottling day is. Bottling in these is a piece of cake. Sanitize the bottles and caps with Starsan, drain for a bit, fill them up, and screw on the caps. That's it. And I especially like that I can give one a squeeze each day after two weeks and determine when they're ready to cold-crash. I've always been afraid of a bottle bomb, because that would be it for my home-cider-making since SWMBO would outlaw it, so I always carbonate lightly but with these, you can carbonate as heavily as you'd like. When the bottle's hard, stick it in the fridge. I brew right around 3 gallons at a time and that's 14-15 bottles, so a case of these is perfect for one batch of cider. I just bottled my second case today and cracked the first one from the case I bottled 2 weeks ago. Carbonation level was perfect and the bottle performed great. I was just about to write that I didn't like that ring on the cap that stays on the bottle after opening it--but before I wrote that, I picked up the bottle and discovered that the ring comes off very easily--no problem and it doesn't screw up the threads. I like the fact that the caps are reusable, but eventually I can see that they'd need to be replaced so it's good to know the rings just slide off. Going to buy another case right now and some more caps before word gets out that this is the way to go. As soon as everybody finds out, the price'll go up!
