Better than vinyl
Ok, these hoses have a natural twist to them so they will kink -both with and without water pressure. I've been on the hunt for non-kinking, durable, quality hose, for a while with no luck. The expandable hoses don't kink but they reduce water flow significantly. Every poly hose (even the supposedly "non-kink-under pressure" variety) will kink and generally leave a "memory" (my term) of the kink at the location which encourages future kinks. These hoses don't leave the same degree of "kink memory) and have been holding up fairly well. First one bought a couple of years ago. Have bought 4 more since. I use the hot water version since I plumbed a hot line outside to use for dog baths and car washing. Are these hoses perfect? Nope. You have to flip them around and around to coil up and reverse for unspooling hence the 2 star on maneuverability They have proven more durable than the poly versions so I'm satisfied they are the best I will find for now. Someone will design and build a better hose. To those product managers listening in out there I would def pay a premium for a product like that. I'm already paying almost a buck a foot for a hose that's ok but not great.

Time will tell, but I expect this to be lifetime quality. Red won't heat water as much.
I like the red color both as a color, and because black rubber hoses in the hot sun put out almost scalding water. It is my opinion that a good hose should be flexible enough to kink temporarily if you pull around corners or don't uncoil it right, but also forgive those little bends and forget, always returning to good form, once you unwind it in a more straight path. This hose is like that. Also, brass ends, as it should be. I expect to get a lifetime of use out of this hose.

A better hose, but can be kinked.
The description said there was a spiral wire reinforcement within the walls of the hose, but it does not feel like it. This hose can be kinked, so take care to not let it remain creased. The material is soft, and overall it is nicer than the cheap imported hoses that I usually buy.

Rated for hot water. Nice! I use it to drain my water heater regularly to reduce rust.
Review for: Continental ContiTech-20582672 Premium Garden, Red Heavy Duty Hot Water Garden Hose. I like Continental tires so I was attracted by the Continental name on this rubber hose. My plumber said a water heater could last almost indefinitely if we would drain sediment yearly. Realy? That's all I have to do to avoid another $1,000 bill for service? Okay. I'll try it. Problem is my water heater is below ground level and I don't have a floor drain in my basement--only a sump pump that is never used--but my basement is carpeted and tiled and I don't want to drain rusty sediment across the floor to reach the sump pump crock. So, I got this hose to connect to my water heater and cut it to the appropriate length to drain the water heater sediment into the sump pump crock. I purchased the sump pump years ago and it is rated for "gray water" but I don't know that it is rated for hot water. I use the sump pump this hot water purge anyway. It seems to work without complaint so there it goes...sediment flushed out into my back yard from a 2 inch diameter plastic pipe that I temporarily attach once per year to put the sediment flush about 15 feet away from my house. I'm sure the iron and minerals are good for my lawn so I'm not worried about the effluent. All is good. So...maybe the plumber was not afraid to tell me about the water heater flush secret because the plumber thought no one would try to devise a way to drain a basement situated water heater...but...obviously...the plumber didn't know that Amazon customers have access to Continental hot water rated rubber hose. I like my plumber. He's a good guy. Thank you, plumber man, for this tip.

Great water hose
I kept buying hot water hoses of various brands and all would soften, then bubble out and burst within a month. This hose has outlasted them all with heavy usage and still looks and feels just as new and durable as the day I received it. I’ll happily buy from this brand again, best hose I’ve found.

Not 5/8 hose
The rubber hose itself is 5/8. However the metal coupling ends restrict the flow to less. Seems to be a common problem with 5/8 hoses. I like that it is made in the USA not China.

Best garden hose
These hoses are better than most. Seems to be made from the same rubber as vehicle heater hose. It will kink when no pressure is in the hose but not easily . Never kinks in same place. As soon you turn on water the pressure takes care of any kink and doesnt kink while pressure is applied. I use these for work also. Very durable.

Good, solidly made hose
Bought a pair I've had for a few months now. Hoses appear very well made and sturdy. The heavy duty brass couplings can absorb a bit of abuse without bending like stamped couplings on cheaper hoses. The rubber feels very thick and sturdy, to the point of the hoses being less prone to kinking than cheaper vinyl hoses (although they still can - and do - kink occasionally). I'm just using them as basic garden hoses to run sprinklers and to wash my car so I can't speak to their performance with hot water, but given the quality of construction I don't imagine there would be any issues. I anticipate having these hoses for a long time, unless the bears decide to use them as chew toys like my last set.
