Decent unit, with some limits...
I use mine professionally. It is a good little air compressor, but does has it's limits. The pluses - 1) Small - Can fit into a large tool box or easily manuevered in one hand. 2) Quiet - You can hold a conversaton over it. (A few decibels can make a difference!) 3) Solid construction. - Mine has been dropped and continued to run. 4) Parts are available from the manufacturer. It can save money. The minuses - 1) Over heat - Make sure you keep the area around it clear. Once it heats up, it can take a while to cool down. THis normally happens after an hour. Blowing ambient air through the unit helps. 2) Those damn rubber feet. They break off and seem to cause the unit to overheat more easily when they do. You can order them through Paasche, but it gets tiresome. THey are needed, though, as I think the missing feet caused my unit to fail. Mine broke after a year because the regulator snapped off and it was not worth the time to dig out the stub. I will buy another one because PAasche is one of the best names in airbrushes.

Chinese-made compressor?
I bought a Paasche Talon TS because I wanted a great double action US made airbrush. I bought the Paasche DS500R compressor because I needed a compressor and I *assumed* all Paasche gear was made in the US. I was supremely pleased to see the Kenosha, WI address *prominently* displayed on the backside of the DS500R box. But I was seriously disappointed to see "Manufactured in China for Paasche" printed on the bottom right hand corner of the DS500R instruction manual. I can't help but wonder if this compressor is any better than one I could have purchased at HF for a quarter of the cost. Only time will tell. Edit: I gave this compressor another star because it does seem to be living up to Paasche expectations. I'm still disappointed about it not being made in the US like the Talon airbrush, but it's been a great compressor in the ~11 months I've had it. It's earned another star for sure.

On the good side: This is a compressor that does what ...
On the good side: This is a compressor that does what it's suppose to do. Although it's a bit of a smaller compressor with a few less features than other models, it still works just as good and is extremely powerful. Definitely recommend this model with the water trap at the very least because a clear line is a must. I wouldn't buy a compressor or airbrush from a company other than Paasche because I know their products are the best. My only complaint is that the PSI adjuster doesn't work properly. It doesn't lock in place as it's suppose to once you pick a preferred PSI, and as a result it will shut off or be extremely difficult to adjust. I always manage to get it eventually but it takes some time to mess with and that should not be an issue. We use the larger compressors where I work that I've never had problems with so I had trusted the smaller model. I think it was just an assembly error or maybe damage from shipping but either way it's disappointing.

Bang for your buck
This D500SR is a reliable compressor. The regulator works quite well. The noise is low also. Be sure to either anchor it down or use on the floor. It tends to slightly walk. But not as much walking as others i have come across. In all and all, for this price the compressor is worth it. Works well on low and high psi settings.

Great compressor for the money
Not anything like what I expected for the price. A very nice, fairly quiet unit.

Quiet running
Pleasantly surprised about how easy setup was and how quietly it operates. Great value for the money.

Nice and quiet.
This is a nice small compressor which doesn't make a racket - perfect for my small work area.

It only has fitting for Paacsh air gun hose. You’ll need an adapter for others.
Good results. Easy to use

excellent... quiet

Not adequate for a consistent result.
The compressor loses pressure, it is not able to maintain anything above 20 PSI for an extended period of use. Even when i turn up the compressor to 50 or 60 PSI it somehow manages to drop to

I was rather disappointed and we decided to purchase a compressor elsewhere
I bought this for my husband for Christmas 2015. The first one we had to return because the gauge wasn't working. The second one we returned because it stopped working completely after 20 minutes of use. I was rather disappointed and we decided to purchase a compressor elsewhere.
