Practical, good looking, but tighter in thighs

I'm a big fan of the comfort, flexibility, durability and breathability of Columbia women's pants and wear various styles for everything from hiking to travel to just lounging or hanging out. In the past, however, I usually take a size 10 (about 5'6" low-to-mid 140s) but in the past I've had more trouble figuring out the fit of the pull on styles (elastic waist) and have found they run tights than other styles. With no helpful size chart to go by and the dreaded S-M-L-XL sizing on the item (seriously, this is not much help) I requested the Silver Ridge 2.0 Pull On Pant in both Medium and Large to try out and hoped for the best. The medium fit well through the hips and waist with an adjustable drawstring that would make it workable for most in the size 8-10 range. I'm about 5'6" with longish legs, and I wondered if the elasticized ankles would look weird or baggy. Instead, they were flattering and I feel they would be forgiving of those within 3-4 inches either way of my height, depending on your leg length. The gray is a solid neutral that goes with nearly any casual top or tee. Omni-shade material is great at protecting from burns and Omni-wick makes most moisture bead up and roll off, which I love, along with the generous and flattering pockets, several of which are large enough to hold my iPhone Plus. What I didn't like: For an active pant, the thigh is quite tight, with little give in the material. Plus, there is a weird seam across the leg above each knee, which has no give at all and feels binding on my lower thigh. If you have athletic, muscular thighs, these pants may not fit you comfortably, and if your thighs are heavier, you may find them less comfortable than other styles. I found that I did get used to the odd grabby feeling of the above-the-knee seam quickly and have come to like the ease, comfort, styling and pockets of these pants quite a lot. Just be aware of the tighter-than usual fit in the thighs. Also, the Large which I tried on is quite a bit roomier as expected in the waist and hip. I'd estimate it at a Size 12-14, BUT the upper leg and thigh area are still tight on me at this larger size.

LOVE THESE PANTS!

I LOVE these pants! They’re so extremely comfortable and fit so well. I wore them almost every day for work for 8+ months outside and for hiking too and they’re in perfect condition. I love how quick they dry when they get wet and they’re also pretty good at keeping you warm. Overall, they’re true to size and are also super cute and a great value!

Baja calidad

Not a good buy

I am disappointed on this pant. It's tight at ankle, very difficult to take off. The buttock area is narrow, you can't bend down because it will get so low and show too much. I would not buy it if I had tried it in store. Unfortunately, I washed it before wearing first time, so can't return.

Very comfortable, excellent quality lightweight pants

I love these pants! They're lightweight, comfortable, have just the right amount of stretch, and have bands around the ankles to keep ticks out. The sun protection is a bonus in such a thin pant (I would normally expect thin material to be more vulnerable to UV rays). I tried these walking my dogs in 90°+, humid weather and I stayed cool and comfortable. Conversely, I put them on over my fleece-lined leggings, and they fit easily over them and were toasty warm. The waist is adjustable with a drawstring, and I think these could accommodate someone up to about a 34" waist. These are as comfortable as leggings but more modest and they look a little more put together. The pocket held my cell securely while walking the dogs. These are well-made. I washed them in cold and hung to dry; they dried quickly and didn't wrinkle (much), so they're great for travel. I can't wait to wear them with my Doc Martens when it finally cools off a bit more here. Columbia can be pricey but I have several pieces from them and the quality is always excellent. Highly recommend. For reference, I'm 5'10", 180 lbs, 32" waist, inverted triangle/apple shape, wearing the large. They're a bit short for my inseam (I had to pull them down), but not enough to bother me.

Very comfortable

These pants fit so well and are so comfortable. These allow me to do any activity outdoors. True to size and length was perfect. I’m 5’1 and ordered large.

Nice Pants

I normally wear a small in bottoms, but I got a medium & I don’t mind the extra room. I tighten the waist band (which sits at my hips) to help keep them up. I’m barely 5’1” so since I got a medium, they’re a little baggy on my legs (which I don’t mind). I can wear a pair of spandex shorts/capris/etc. underneath them & that allows me to take the pants off if I get too hot while wearing them.

Recommended Product- with conditions..

I wanted to like these but after wearing them for a day I haven't put them back on since because of two issues I had with them. 1. They were tight on my midsection and these pants have no "give" or stretch to them at all and they were just uncomfortable. 2. They have a more masculine look than I was comfortable with. Someone asked if I was wearing men's pants at work and on top of that he has a pair nearly identical to this and I just feel like I'm wearing men's pants. There is nothing wrong with the pants themselves and they are quality made with a decent price but for my personal body style they just didn't do anything good for me since I have a thicker midsection with a flabby belly from extreme weight loss years ago.
