Competes perfectly with Honda mini gas tiller
My Honda tiller gave-up-the-ghost, at the beginning of a big tilling project. After much wasted time trying to repair it; I finally bit the bullet and ordered this Greenworks cordless (battery-powered) model. I didn’t want to assemble the new Greenworks tiller, because it’s something new to learn (which for me is the bugle-call for procrastination). but I remembered a video review of someone who was reviewing the same model, and it looked easy; so I took a deep breath, and gathered the few included parts, and slid them on... and was done in minutes. I did not assemble the wheels to the tiller, because I didn’t want them interfering with getting a good, deep, grip on the soil to be tilled. Perhaps it wouldn’t have made any difference; but that was my mindset. For you, remember that IF YOU DON’T INSTALL THE WHEELS, then the tiller will not stand upright when not in use... and also you will have to carry the tiller, and it’s full weight, when transporting the tiller across the yard, or driveway, or wherever you’re going (and it is a very awkward, cumbersome, tool to carry). Nevertheless, because I’m plenty strong, I still always chose to lift, and carry, it. Upon activating the tiller, with the handlebar controls, the tines began slowly turning... and then sped up considerably moments later. After time, I realized that this was normal. Furthermore, it became apparent that this tiller’s tines are geared to turn slower than you would expect, at all times. I also remembered that another reviewer had said that this tiller has a slow standard tine speed; and from my perspective, it matters not. I found the power, and ability to till the soil was remarkably good. It performed as well as my gas powered mini tiller, which is all I could hope for. I really enjoyed pressing a button, pulling a lever, and then having uninterrupted tilling until the battery ran out of juice. Then 35 minutes later, after charging the battery, I was back in business. I really didn’t mind waiting for the battery to charge, as it gave me time to rest. For me, pulling the tiller backwards, while letting it dig-in, gave the best results... as it has with all tillers I’ve ever used, big and small. The area I needed to till was a former lawn area consisting of clay soil which had been dug-up, and then filled back in, and tamped down with a backhoe. There were lots of rocks. This little battery powered tiller had no problem digging through the hardened soil, and also no problem dislodging rocks as big as my fist. I tilled 1500 square feet of the aforementioned soil (an area about 12 ft. X 120 ft.). I considered this tool to be flawless during the many weeks I spent using it for hours each day. At some point, I opened-up the box to a Greenworks 80 Volt chainsaw, which I’d yet to try. This was so that I could harvest the included 2 AmpHour lithium battery... which allowed me to have 2 identical batteries to allow me to continue tilling, while the other battery was charging. This was great, but an unexpected downside was that one of my fingers (left hand ring-finger) went numb from all of the continuous tilling... and has slowly been recovering for a month; so do yourself a favor and wear gloves to cut down on the subtle vibrations going to your hands. I have a soft spot for tools, and appliances, which do exactly what they’re supposed to do, and this 80-volt Greenworks tiller is in that category. I have no complaints, and nothing bad to say about it. It solved my problem (of needing a reliable and tiller) completely... and it is 100% functional for it’s intended purpose. I give it Two thumbs Up!

Great purchase
Good product. I have other GWP 80W products, this was to compliment and integrate. Living in the country and having clay soil, this gets utilized harder than it should. I disasemble and clean after each use and I store inside. Works good, no issues. It a rather light weight unit, a positive consideration for those with back problems and a somewhat negative consideration for the depth and the distrabution of dense soil. After using it a couple times, if used for annual restructuring it's a champ, even to break ground in a normal residential setting. Clay soil is a bit more demanding when it comes to breaking ground and getting a good till.

Great machine
This is a revised review so I will keep it short. (ok, it's not that short) I purchased this in January 2020 and have used it for a variety of projects some which were off label. I have used it to dig up my entire weed patch (i would call it a yard if there actually was some grass) to eliminate the weeds and their roots. For some weeds I need to go deep so I will till an area, remove the weed debris and then move the soil and then till again. When i am finished I shift the soil back. A lot of work and takes some time but it's cheaper than renting heavier equipment or hiring someone to do it. Currently I am using it to create a flat grade so I can install a new fence in my back yard (weed patch). This tiller is powerful and does a great job on the things for which I use it. It would be much easier if tilling for a vegetable garden since it is really designed to create straight furrows and does that quite well. Where I live it gets very hot in the summer so I give it (and me) a rest to cool off. I'm 5'3" and turned the upper handle upside down, as suggested by others, so it is low enough for me to be able to use the tiller. My original review was due to my not being able to find replacement tines. The GreenWorks website did not provide much information on where and how to find replacements that it was a bit confusing since it only showed replacement tines for their 40v and 60v tillers which use tines that are incompatible with the 80v. With a lot of hunting and checking and looking, it seemed that they did not sell replacement tines which didn't make sense. GreenWorks finally got back to me and gave me the part numbers so I could order them. Having dealt with GreenWorks support for one of my other tools I have found that sometimes it takes a little work to get them to understand what I need as they sometimes suggest I may need to purchase a whole different part but in the end it usually gets resolved in one call or email. They always respond and are helpful. I have several GreenWorks tools all 40v outside of this tool and like the way they work and their durability.

BEWARE: Greenworks will not honor their warranty!
I own three different Greenworks products, including the 80V Lawn Mower, Chainsaw and Tiller. In the first year since purchasing them, the Chainsaw and Lawn Mower experienced complete system failure. I contacted Greenworks to have them serviced since they were still under warranty. After taking them to the repair shop and submitting the warranty paperwork, Greenworks refused to have the work performed. They eventually even notified the repair shop NOT to perform service because they would issue a replacement product. After contacting Greenworks, they said the repair was not covered under the warranty because it was purchased from a third party. I have over $1000 in Greenworks products that do not work and they stubbornly refuse to support their products because I did not purchase them directly from them. Buying their products is a complete waste of money.

Leider unbrauchbar.

Works as expected
This is for light, shallow tilling. Basically a weeder. Needed something I didn’t need to tinker on for an hour to get it started for a 15 minute job. That’s what I got.

Smal can go between rows in the garden.
Wish we had bought one sooner.
