Dark chocolate is almost black on light/med brown hair
My hair is light/medium brown and the dark chocolate turned almost black, which is fine for me. I mixed the whole bag, and it turned out rather think, and was a little tricky to apply and heavy on my scalp. I had some shedding afterwards. My hair has a very slight green tint though. The insert says that something went wrong and to contact them, but it’s not that bad, and I know it will fade. Directions say to boil distilled water in a non-metal container, but I didn’t have one. Make sure you get the right consistency otherwise applications will be even more difficult. It rinses out easily. I shampooed mine afterwards, and my hair still has a bad smell. They say not to shampoo for 24 hours for a longer lasting color. Hope this helps someone. I’ve had better experiences with Light mountain in the past with a lighter color like mahogany.

Black was Meh
UPDATE: I saw some of the reviews on the Chocolate version saying that indigo needs cold water to work, which explains why it didn’t work for me because I catered to the Henna with hot water. I’m not saying I did it right, but I used the kind of hot water I’d shower in right out of the tap, added some salt for the indigo, and left it in for two hours. They said indigo stops processing after two, and I wanted it darker, so I went with that. Results were just what I wanted! It looks almost black with some red hues; on camera it looks like a nice dark chocolate. Love this stuff. Still, don’t inhale it though. ORIGINAL REVIEW:I started with the product of doing the Red dye, which wasn't that light. Think kinda auburn. Did two rounds of the black, let it sit for three hours each time, and only used shampoo after three days. That said, results were meh. My hair's a dark brown with a red tint in the sunlight. Nowhere near black. Probably shoulda tried a different brand but I trust Light Mountain with my life lol. Also, NEVER INHALE THIS STUFF. EVER. Was awake all night with the worst migraine of my life because when I opened the pack, it puffed up onto my face and in my nose. SO. BAD. Still love the brand tho, that was just user error.

Henna is the healthier hair color option!
I first tried Light Mountain Natural Organic Henna (black) about 15 years ago. After intermittently using the popular drugstore brands to cover the few grey hairs I had, I finally chose to start using Light Mountain on a permanent basis, 5 years ago, when the grey increased around my hairline. The reason for my switch was that I learned about the potential link between the chemicals and dyes in hair coloring products - especially those used for black - and bladder cancer. In the last 10 years, a dear friend (60) and one close relative (58) died from bladder cancer. Both women had a long history of using commercial black hair dye. All the more reason to choose Light Mountain Henna. Admittedly, using henna can be a bit time consuming and tricky than commercial hair colorings. However, each application lasts 3 months for me and I've found helpful online tutorials and figured out my own Light Mountain "routine". I hope it's helpful for others to try. I add plain yogurt or natural sour cream to the boiled water-and-powdered henna mixture to make it less grainy and more malleable. I spoon it into a plastic squeeze bottle to have greater control when applying it to my hair. (It's usually necessary to enlarge the bottle tip by cutting some of it off.) I always wear nitrile gloves and an old tee shirt and protect my face and neck with olive oil. Shower caps are not as effective as winding plastic wrap all around the hairline several times to compactly hold the henna-saturated hair in place for the 4-hour curing process. Japanese plastic wrap, from DAISO, is perfect to use because it's only 9 inches wide and easier to handle. When rinsing out the henna, it's really helpful to incorporate L' Oreal's Total Repair Damage Erasing Balm -butter colored and comes in a jar. After 4 hours, the henna is pretty gritty and tenacious. I discovered this conditioner aids in the gentle removal of the henna residue. (Do not shampoo the henna out of your hair!) I used to buy Light Mountain at Whole Foods, Sprouts or a local natural grocer. However, these places no longer reliably stock many Light Mountain choices, if any. (I now mix the Black with Dark Chocolate for a less blue-black coloring.) So, now I buy the 3-packs per color on Amazon, for convenience.

Great product for a natural red shade.
I get a ton of compliments on my shade of red from using this. I’m a natural blonde so my hair accepts the color easily. I do feel it maybe doesn’t last as long lately but I’m not sure what about the product could have changed as it is all natural. You can add things like paprika to enhance the red and it really does condition your hair and makes it nice and soft. Be prepared to do a heavy condition after you rinse it out and also for your hair to smell kind of like dirt for a couple days afterward, and also to lose color on your towels for a couple days after also. All in all a great natural product!

Beautiful color shinny and string
I had all possible colors in my hair: red , pink, yellow , and orange after a series of blond highlights and red reinforcement. I was using pink color shampoo to keep the color . It dried extremely my hair and the ends were breaking and thin. Disaster. My hairstylist said we can always add a black dye , but I did not want to use more chemicals. She said henna will make it green. But after many reviews I decided for this one, and can not be happier than now. I followed all the instructions, and although it was said you had to use the normal henna then indigo , I just decided for the dark chocolate color to check if it was enough to cover color. Left it for 2,5 hours, even rinsed it in the backyard with a hose (to avoid the mess, saw the tip in YouTube). Waited 48 hours to shampoo. It not only covered beautiful the color , but my ends are strong and healthy again. I bought the pack of 3 and will happily use it again in couple of months Pics are from before and after.

Works great for dark brown to black hair!
This henna is wonderful! I have experimented with other brands that didn’t work nearly as good as Light Mountain (stay away from Coloura - horrible product and customer service). I have dark brown to black hair and this has done a great job covering my all of my greys and it made my hair feel thicker and healthier. My hair is down to my waist in length and one box was enough to cover all my hair and then some. I loved it so much I just purchased another 3 boxes because I know I’ll be using this once a month. Note: you will be washing it out of your hair for a few shampoos and it will transfer a bit of a blue ish dye so if stay away from light coloured jackets or shirts you may not want to ruin with dye. It gets all over my hands when I do my hair but washes off easily. If you have white or light sheets I would suggest buying a black pillowcase to sleep on until you see the water run clear after shampooing because I’m sure it will transfer throughout the night (I have a black silk pillowcase so I didn’t see any transfer but I’m sure it would). It has a very earthy henna scent which doesn’t bother me but you’ll notice it when your hair is wet for about a week after. All a small price to pay for a natural dye without any harmful chemicals that really works. I used to use Clairol Naturals but it has so many harmful chemicals and would wash out within a week. This henna lasts me 3x longer and my hair feels stronger and healthier than ever. It covers all of my greys so well but after about 3 weeks I can notice a few popping up again. I only shampoo 3 times a week so if you’re use to shampooing every day it may not last you as long. All in all 5 stars and I’m very glad I’ve found this product. Highly recommend if the cons don’t bother you and you have the time and patience to apply it. Tip: mix 3/4 of a teaspoon of guar gum in the powder before mixing it with hot water (not boiling) until it’s a good yogurt like consistency and let sit for 15 - 20 mins before applying. The guar gum helps bind the henna so it’s not drying up falling and flaking all over the place. It’s a major game changer and I personally wouldn’t even attempt to colour my long hair without it. You can buy it on Amazon for about $10 but it will last forever and you can even use it for cooking. After applying I wrap up my head with a shower cap and then cling film and sit near my fireplace rotating around to keep it warm as it helps activate the henna (a blow dryer also works to warm it up if you do that every 30 mins ish) and then I rinse it out with conditioner until the water runs clear. You shouldn’t shampoo for 24 hours after but the longer the better if you can go a couple of days. If you use conditioner make sure you don’t use anything with proteins in it and same goes for shampooing prior. You should use an anti residue shampoo like baby shampoo before the henna (no conditioner) and then I used Hempz conditioner after the henna treatment (no shampoo). Photo: top of my head where I have most of my greys.

100% recomendable

No tiñe suficiente
El producto lo uso para matizar las canas, sin embargo no me funciona como otras hennas que he utilizado, no matiza las canas con buen color, solo con uno muy ligero que se pierde rápido

Excellent quality henna
I have used Light Mountain for years and have never been disappointed by their quality. The colours do not fade and the henna is easy to mix and not lumpy like some other brands.

Excelente opción para tinte de cabello
Tiene ingredientes naturales que no agreden mi cabello, y si me lo deja rojizo aunq es importante comentar q ya lo tenía cobrizo por el tinte regular q usé durante mucho tiempo
