Great to securely flip food on the grill
I sometimes struggled to flip heavy things like roasts, burgers or ribs on the grill. This tool allows me to get under the meat with the spatula side and then securely hold and flip it over and place it where I want it. Very well made tool has held up well and cleans up easily.

A BIG Set of BBQ Tongs
I wanted these for the teeth on the one side, that can slip below burgers and keep all the meat from falling into the fire when lifting them to flip. These are a really big and heavy duty set, so they can handle steaks and such with ease. The teeth are sharp, for some reason, and that side of the tongs is a little shorter than the other, so they do not match up exactly. Not sure of the reason for this, but it should be okay. Too big to put in my usual drawer, so these will stay out with my grill. After using these for a while I would say that the shorter fork side is annoying. No reason to not have it match up with the spatula in length. Makes for awkward pinching of items off the grill.

The utensil is better than expected, but came poorly packed. As a result the forks were twisted and bent a bit.

Decent Tongs so far...
I have not put these tongs to use YET....however just thought I would give a quick initial thought to these new tongs upon arrival. The length of these tongs are close to 18 inches from tip to tip. I thought it was 18" from the butt of the tongs to the top, but they measure the locking mechanism as part of the length. Oh well... The tongs seem to lock nicely and the springs keep the tongs open with good tension when it is unlocked. They feel pretty good and solid in my hands with nice thumb grooves in the bamboo for gripping the tongs. The pin seems to keep the tongs well aligned...unlike the cheapo kinds where you can barely grab the meat your cooking fearing it will slip out from the tongs grip. Its stainless steel so no worries about rust. I have given these tong a 4 star. The 5th star will be added once I put these tongs to the test. I have a Big BBQ this weekend, so these tongs will be put thru the ringer. We will see how they hold up. I will come back and give an update with the good, the bad and/or the ugly! Edit: 07-19-15 So far so good. I'm bumping my 4 star to 5 stars. This has worked quite well. No rust after washing. It still locks fine. Springs continue to work well too. All good!! Cheers!!!

About Time
I had on old one of these almost 15 years old, been looking for one for years. Best ever for grilling. Need two things. 1. could use a slightly smaller one as well. 2. use more search word options to locate it. claw tongs is not what comes to mind when searching something like this. bbq grabbers, tongs, grip tongs, holding tongs, etc...

Good, But Definitely Not My Favorite Tongs.
I received these as a gift to replace my favorite set of flip-tongs that broke recently. These tongs are very large and they are heavier than I like. The construction of this tool involves the use of pressed stainless to form a "B" style channel between the handle and the spatula/fork end. The handle ends of the channels are open - NOT easy to clean! Fabrication quality was not so good - the rivets used to secure the wooden handle pieces were not thoroughly pressed. The hanging loop on the handle end is a clever design. It serves as both a hanging loop and a lock to keep the tongs closed for storage (when unleashed, these tongs open very wide!). A scissors type spring is used in the upper handle to force the tongs to a normally open position, and I found the amount of force needed to operate the tongs as excessive - mostly because of their length and weight. I'm going to fire up the old MIG and repair my 20 year old stainless tongs.

Good product
Very good build quality. Good length of handles. Nice wooden grip. I think it will last a very long time. Only minor complaint is, as some other reviewers said the fork portion clamps down in the middle of the spatula portion when closed. I would think it would work better if it reached the end of the spatula. I like that you can pull out the ring on the end to keep it locked in the closed position. I was originally looking for a similar product my father once had (that is actually more like scissors than tongs) but this does the job almost as well and is built better so it will probably last longer. Also one last thing, the fork prongs seem to be pretty easy to bend.

Works well
As others have noted, it would have rated 5 stars if the fork portion was longer. I like that it is stainless steel so it wont rust like the chromed steel one I had previously. I'm not sure how the wooden handle will stand up to the dish washer, but currently it is attractive and comfortable to use.

Man-size BBQ Tongs
Man-size BBQ Tongs. Got 2 sets for my husband, (one for RV) and he really likes them. They work well for burgers, ribs, steak but not good for vegis because they are big. They are very sturdy and well made and will likely last forever. They are very large though and have to hang on the BBQ rather then store in a kitchen drawer.
