2 Inches Too Short & Other Defect
These collars are made two full inches too short (and they shrink -- see below). The 10", which I bought, measure only 8 inches from the mid-buckle clasp to the furthest hole. I'm using these as ID tag straps for equipment and luggage, and I'm actually happy that they are much shorter than comparable pet collars. I can't find 8" pet collars anymore. They are also somewhat defective because the stitched end that wraps around the buckle is wrapped the opposite way most "normal" pet collars are done, with the raw side on the outside of the collar. Again, compared with the other pet collars I've purchased, the raw side is so rough that you wouldn't actually want it rubbing against your pet's neck. But it is less attractive this way, to be sure, though it won't affect the performance of the collar. UPDATE: I must really recommend NOT using these collars on pets -- they SHRINK for some reason, perhaps after getting wet, but I really am not sure. As mentioned above, I didn't intend to use these 10" collars as actual pet collars. As it turned out, though, a neighbor found an abandoned litter of kittens and convinced me to take two of them, and I very handily had this bunch of little collars in various colors. These 10 inch collars were a very roomy size for my scrawny 3 month old kittens. But when I checked on them a week later, I saw that the collar was kind of tight on one of them. I unbuckled it to move to a different hole, and noticed that it was very frayed, obviously from the cat scratching at it. I took it off to see if there was something else about it irritating the kitten, and saw that somehow the scratching had actually made the collar curve --- one edge of the collar had become shorter than the other. I checked the other kitten's collar, and it had the same thing, though less severe. I didn't think much of it, and found some other collars for the kittens from my stash, ones from another manufacturer that were the proper length for a 10" collar. Today, I took out my box of little collars, including the old frayed ones plus some new ones from this company, and instantly realized that not only were the old ones frayed and misshapen (curved), they had also become shorter, by a full inch on one of them! I am not aware of my kittens having ever gotten really wet, but it could have happened. I am at a loss to imagine anything else that could shrink a nylon collar -- BEWARE!!

Sturdy, well-made collars
Hamilton collars have always been among the best, so I was pleased to find the single-ply Hamiltons available on Amazon. Local shopping options have all moved to the plastic clasp type collars, which I don't care for in any size collar but especially one for a small terrier pup. (The one I bought locally to have when I picked him up, I had to use needle-nose pliers to open and close--not ideal with a squirmy 4 lb puppy!) The Hamilton is sturdy and while it doesn't have metal hole reinforcements, the holes have shown no fraying. Collar goes on easily because it's made with good quality hardware. He'll grow out of this one soon and be in to the 12" I ordered at the same time. One note: other reviewers mentioned the collars running on the small side, and while I didn't measure, I believe that's true. At 6 pounds, my lean pup wore the 10" on the last (closest to the end) hole. He's appx. 9 lbs now and the collar is verging on too tight. So I highly recommend Hamiltons (used them for years on 80-100 lb dogs), but I'd also recommend ordering a size up on this single ply version.

The blue is a nice intense sapphire blue, and the quality of the strap and buckle are otherwise fine.

5 years later
2 years later and still using it. Color is beautiful. Holes haven't worn out. What more do you want from a dog collar? -Updated Feb 2022- 5 years later and STILL using it! My furbaby now has extra rolls around the neck due to the pandemic so she's using it on the largest hole and I'm slightly concerned it will come undone if she pulls really hard. Will try to get the next size up as I still love the color and quality.

Well made.
Good value.

Seems to be well stitched.
It will work with a growing mini Dachshund for now with one hole to still make it larger.

Too Small
Not 10" length = way too small

Cheap, obviously.
I guess you get what you pay for. This collar is a fairly useless piece of junk, but it's cheap, so that's nice. I used it on my puppy when I first brought her home, but quickly went out and purchased a harness as I'd never trust this thing to contain a scared puppy. It was good while she was rapidly growing, but by the time she hit about 4 months I bought her a proper, sturdy collar that clips on and off (trying to get this collar fastened on a squirmy puppy is almost impossible!).

Just go to the dollar store.
I wasn’t a fan tbh. The buckle had no sturdiness to it, one wrong itch and that collar is off. Just go to the dollar store, I bought a much better collar and leash for $3.

Not secure. Very flimsy.
The clasp closure was very flimsy & not secure at all. It fell off multiple times, then finally it fell off outside and I didn't notice. No one has returned it & it had my dog's tag on it. Very sad.

Not good when you have 2 puppies.
Cute, VERY thin, very easy for them to remove. They get it off and chew on it and if you're not careful it'll only last you for a week. But in a single (or less troublesome) pup household, the color is pretty and it's a good looking little thing.
