Each dog will respond differently
We have two dogs that are both rescues from a very abusive/neglectful situation and have different anxiety issues. One has separation anxiety as well as a fear of loud noises (e.g., lightning, fireworks) and the other one has a general anxiety around new people. We are working with both of the dogs to try and help with their anxiety and thought these collars would compliment the training we are doing. When we received the collars, we immediately read the instructions. I know a lot of people stated that when the package was opened, all the powder on the collars came off minimizing the effect. It is true that the powder on the collar does come off upon removing them from the package but the instructions state that this is normal and that the powder is a carrier for the pheromones and not the pheromones themselves. The powder that comes off is not harmful to the dog. In regards to the fragrance (lavender chamomile), I do have to agree with other reviewers in that it is pretty strong and seems to last for quite a period of time (on a side note, my husband is convinced the collar was rolled in moth balls instead of lavender and chamomile). Since we purchased the 3 month supply that included 3 collars, we decided to place one on each dog to see how they would respond. We got two different results after each dog wore the collar for a week. I will review below how each dog responded to the collar. For our one dog who has separation anxiety and a fear of loud noises, the collar seemed to really help him remain calmer. I do want to clarify that the collar helped support his anxiety but by no means cured his anxiety. With the collar on, we were able to actually go outside without him whining at the door and having to be right beside us at all times. We also live in a State which is prone to severe thunderstorms at various times of the year. The timing of getting the collars was perfect in that we are in thunderstorm season. When a thunderstorm occurs, we have noticed that our dog is calmer and not as anxious. He still has some anxiety but the heavy breathing and trembles have significantly decreased. Again, we did not have an expectation that the collar would cure him but we wanted to give him something that would assist him with the anxiety. For our other dog who has general anxiety around new people, the collar wasn't as effective. He is generally an overall calm dog but when someone new comes over, he tends to get agitated and unsettled. Even with the collar on him, he still exhibited the same level of agitation and unsettlement. Although the collar did not seem to be as effective on him as it was on our other dog, we still believe there is some calming benefit to the collar. In summary, I would recommend anyone looking for another aid to assist with dog anxiety give the collar a try. For us, it was worth giving them a shot as it did benefit one of our dogs. I think as other reviews mentioned, it will depend on the individual dog and there response to the pheromones as to whether it is effective. I don't have any regrets on giving the collars a chance (especially since they are not that expensive per collar when compared to some of the other items most people purchase for there pets).

Give it a try if you just have one dog
Not sure how I feel about these collars. I bought the 3 pack so I could try one each on our 3 puppies, all at the same time. Seemed to work fine from the time I put them on (you're supposed to expect to see a difference within 2 weeks of using the collar). I credited all their calmness to the collars. :) The dogs didn't go as crazy over things that would normally set them off on a barking outbreak. I thought the smell was fine until I noticed I kept thinking "Ugh...what's that smell?" I realized that it was the collars - perhaps a little overpowering since we had 3 collars going at once. It's not that the collars have a bad smell, but that they have a smell that I must associate with pee or bathrooms. To me, it smells like those tablets that you put in toilets to keep them clean and the water in them blue. We had the collars on for about a week and a half. We eventually took them off because the dogs had a few unexpected episodes of wanting to get at one another's throats. Everyone in the house was just ready to give up on the collars. I still think it made a difference at first. Give it a try - each dog probably responds differently. But maybe pass on this if you're thinking of getting it to put on more than one dog. If you do buy these, I recommend putting them on your dog while you're outside. There's a waxy powder residue that'll make a mess while you're trying to get the collar on.

Works but don’t expect miracles
It does seem to have calmed our foster labradoodle down. But he’s still a puppy (14 months old) and still has puppy tendencies.

Mixed reviews - but glad I took the chance!!!
Realizing that not every product works for every animal because, well, each one is different - different dispositions, different behavioral issues, different backgrounds and "childhoods", different "parents", etc. This product received mixed reviews, but I took a chance and ordered it anyway, and I am so glad I did. I actually ordered it for my new Havanese puppy because she seemed to be experiencing quite a bit of anxiety with several things. Giving her a bath totally freaks her out, massive pulling on the leash (really? A baby Havanese?!), cutting her hair was another one, trying to train her to come, sit, etc was yet another. Any of these activities caused her to sit underneath the end table for hours on end. I do have the Thundershirt and put that on her, and it seemed to work miracles, but what's one to do when it's 85-90 degrees out?! Further, I was also concerned that she seemed to be averse to receiving affection - if I pet her or picked her up, she looked away, ran away, or her heart beat 90 miles per hour. It's harder to train a puppy when you can't give the "good dog" scratch, either on the chest, back, etc, since she seems to have no association to wanting to please the owner as most dogs do. It's the weirdest thing. I also have a mini schnauzer who is 6 years old, who is very well-trained, and has never really had too many behavioral problems I couldn't correct. The main one was the shrieking and screaming she does when I come home. I am to blame for that one because I have allowed it for years, but it seems a little worse now than when I lived abroad with her. At any rate, I don't mind the excitement she feels when she sees me, as I think we mostly ALL live for that emotion dogs have when they love to see their owners...but the shrieking has gotten out of control. I used to have her off-leash for the first 5 years of her life, and when I returned to the States, I was informed there were dog leash laws even if she was trained! And then once she chased a rabbit for several blocks, and that was the end of the off-leash time anyway. She was sort of leash trained, but being that I never had to have her on a leash because I trained her to be close, stop when told, walk, sit, stand, lay, "quiet" on command using both words and hand signals - I didn't need a leash. And so now, moving to the big city...I don't know if she is hyper-aware or what is going on, but she shrieks at people, lunges at them (but doesn't bite, but she even scares me!), constantly pulls on the leash, etc. Having said that, the purchase was for the Havanese - not the Schnauzer, but I wanted to test it out and see what would happen when my husband came home about 15 minutes later. Typically when he arrives, the shrieking begins, and usually lasts for about 10 minutes, I have to ask her to stop via constant "quiet" commands, which mostly do not work. With this special collar, I wanted to see what would happen. When my husband came through the door, she did show she was excited, but it was very muted...no shrieking at all! I was really shocked. I never thought a collar could really achieve that. When we went for the evening walk, she pulled so much less, and if she pulled at all, she responded to the first command. She didn't shriek at anyone on the street either. She did bark at one guy, but no shrieking! I never actually thought of her as being an anxious dog - she loves us, and she loves to meet people...she loves cats and other animals, but anxious? Never (says the "parent" in denial)! Wow, she is amazingly calm with this collar - I still can't believe it. I think my Havanese is reaping the benefits as well, even without the collar on (she was smelling it, and so were the cats!). However, I do plan to try the collar on her directly because I am interested in her results as well. (She looks adorable with the Thundershirt on, but ripping apart the velcro to take the shirt off at night causes her a lot of angst!) This product received mixed reviews here on Amazon, and I am glad I took the chance. Fortunately for me, it did work for my schnauzer. I have not tried it directly on my Havanese, but she seems to be even more receptive to being petted and loved, even though the collar is on the schnauzer! Amazing!

didn't work at all
Did absolutely nothing for my 7 month old puppy. Others have complained about the strong scent, but although it came sealed in a foiled package and that inside a metal can, it was not very strong at all. She smelled nice for about 2 days but was no calmer.

These actually work!
I don't know what to tell you, these actually work for my dog. I leave his on all the time & when I leave the house he has now gone form a howler to just sitting & laying down waiting for my return (I have a doggy camera set up to check on him). I have tried absolutely everything else & to be honest, held little hope of these working- but they do & I couldn't be happier because it was really stressing me out to leave the house. One collar lasts around a month & I am well aware when the "Juice" has evaporated from the collar because he turns into a howler once again. I also love the smell!

I would say it works pretty good, not sure as effective as the adaptil
This is an american version of the adaptil collar. Tried it as there is 3 in the box (3 months supply) for £30. I would say it works pretty good, not sure as effective as the adaptil. It is much narrower but does give off a lovely scent. It has worked 80-85% compared to the adaptil collar. the difference maybe that it keeps coming loose more so not effective if not on tight enough to absorb into the skin. They are one size fits all cut to size so will fit small dog to large dog

Not good at all
Tried these as thought they'd work the same as the main branded. No they don't. Fastening is awful so they come off and they did nothing for my dog who reactes perfectly to the main branded ones

Smells lovely but... too expensive !!!
Smells beautiful but sadly didn’t work going to try it again with other things like tablets and plug ins. Price is disgusting though sort the price out !!

Scented
I think it may depend on the breed of dog, but neither of the two advertised worked for my small mongrel. My friends with labradors were pleased. This one in particular has a scent that you can notice-- a lot like a clean motorway restroom. To me: yuck.
