It is sturdy and it drives the nails.
I wore out my last nail gun, which is basically the same gun. I was happy enough with it to buy the same thing again. This is slightly different, a little bit lighter (but not much), and made out of a weird metal or something. I could see how this might seem heavy to some. It does what I need it to do. Easy to load, easy to work. I have only had nails jam a handful of times. I never had any problem removing the jammed nail.

I am 72 now and this is my second Bostitch 3 1/2 inch framer since 1985, they are brutes.
The media could not be loaded. I am 72 now and this is my second Bostitch 3 1/2 inch framer since 1985 when I built my 41 foot addition onto my Long Island NY home. This one has the safety feature where you have to pull and release the trigger before you can shoot a nail. The Bostitch I had in 1985, you could hold the trigger and just hit the nailer tip onto the spot you want the nail. I suggest for sheathing, you purchase the galvanized 8d nails, you may have to lower the air pressure to around 100 psi for 8d and 120 for 16d nails. The nailer is not too light, but if your strong enough you can use one hand holding the gun, this is helpful when working alone, as I do, and your fabricating or bracing a wall with a two by four. You can build walls on the buildings deck which is flat. Just cut all you sill plates, studs, crippler and headers beforehand, then use a chalkline snapped to the deck to align your walls and shoot three nails through the bottom of the plates. See my You Tube 331 HD videos, many on building my shed at age 72.

Mediocre gun but love the 100 nail magazine
I build custom homes, and I have owned at least 3 of these models. Pros: - The magazine capacity is wonderful, the 28 degree wire weld nails are great if your local building code allows - The gun drives very deep if set to the deepest setting. Nice for subfloor or LVL's Cons: - There is some problem with the air bladder inside where I take them into my local service center and apparently the 7 year warranty doesn't apply because they claim I don't oil my guns properly. This isn't true, I oil my guns daily and I have an in-line oiler. The bladder blows and it won't cycle. Each gun shoots about 25 boxes of nails, and then has the same issue. - It is very weather sensitive. Temps within 10 degrees of freezing and it is slow or non-responsive. - The cheap plastic truss hook. Thanks for supplying a free truss hook, but I'm almost to the point where I break it off on purpose to get it over with. There aren't many guns that shoot the 28 degree wire weld nails. They are very efficiently packed so you can shoot more before reloading. That's probably the only reason I would recommend this gun, as time is often money. Hitachi also has a 28 degree wire weld nailer. I would recommend the hitatchi over this gun, however, the bostitch is more compact, the Hitachi is unreasonably huge. The Hitachi does better in cold weather and has lasted much longer for me.

Perfect choice for my first framing nail gun
Grab this little gem day after on a Black Friday sale. It’s incredibly light weight, however 28° nails are not common, so you don’t have the same selection as 21° nail gun.

Commercial Grade
Purchased for deck construction using ribbed nails. This is a commercial grade tool. It's PSI range is from 70-120 and easily drove 2 3/8 nails while set at 76lbs (at the lower end of its rating).... so there will be no problem driving larger nails. This is for framing, so do not expect it to be applicable for trim.

Great nailer
Works well but there are a few things that could be improved upon: 1. This unit is shipped without the attachment plug. So I received this item then I went to do my job only to discover that I cannot connect the unit to my compressor hose. Having bought this unit they could have at least put a hose connectivity in the box. Very irritating 2. Be aware you cannot drive nails by simply pulling the trigger. There are two modes i.e. a grey trigger mechanism and a black trigger mechanism. The grey is preinstalled and in order to fire the unit you have to depress the head then pull the trigger. After each nail - you release the trigger and depress the head again then pull the trigger. With the black trigger mechanism it works differently i.e. multiple nails through one trigger action and bumping the head - they should have a card attached to the unit explaining such actions. Overall a very smooth unit and well worth the money. Drives nails very smooth and efficient

lite weight and packs a punch!
really nice nailer.quite lite for the size of it not so hard on your hand while using it. I really like how the plastic nose comes of and the nose has deep serrated scallopes on it to bite in on the wood for toe nailing that is a really nice feature. I had a lot of toe nailing on my first project to do so this was really a bonus for me. and tonnes of power to drive the nail in to depth when toe nailing. depth adjustment is quick with the push of a button. I know some people didn't like how you need to actually change the trigger switch to go to sequential firing mode(meaning you can just hold the trigger in and bump the nose to fire it)but for me this was not an issue since it is a framing nailer so I want to make sure I place the nails proper before I actually fire it so I probably will not ever use the sequential mode.

i've only used it once and it performed reasonably well. I haven't figured out how to adjust the nail depth (it leaves about 1/8 inch) but the convenience of having the nail go in "instantly" while holding large pieces of wood is what i wanted. A couple of whacks with hammer fixes the other issue and i suspect if there is probably adjustments. Used on 3 1/2 and 2 1/2 in nails so far. Feed system very reliable and loading the nails in the handle is very simple.

Probably works fine but...
I will be returning this item because the vendor did not include the fitting to attach to the air line and I needed the gun right away...all the other Bostich products I purchased had the fitting already installed

Completely Worth It!
Well built product from a quality company. I have used both interior and exterior so far...this framer did just fine in cold rainy weather. Like other reviewers, I have had 2 double fires out of about couple hundred nails and was hit once in the forehead with a piece of wire from the welded nails, so I would recommend caution and glasses (as with any other nailer). The only thing to keep in mind is that the nails for this framer run $50 - $100 per box (for ACQ nails). Otherwise, highly recommended!
