worked great on my S240 dome
I used this wrench to take my dome off of S240 tank. Worked so easy. Dome was screwed on back in 1991. It was listed for a S200 Hayward tank but after reading reviews I decided to purchase. Fit perfectly.....

Breaks....
This thing is specifically made to remove the bulbous dome that screws into the top of a Hayward S200 swimming pool filter. This wrench fits over the dome with notches in the wrench engaging protruding pieces of plastic on the dome's flange. The wrench is plastic, as is the dome. Here's the deal with this wrench: it's plastic and it works fine unless your dome is stuck and won't come off. BUT, if your dome comes off easily with this purpose-made wrench, it would probably have come off just as easily if you had used a 6-inch strap wrench. So you could be spending $17 dollars for a one-purpose tool which you didn't really need anyway. Try the strap wrench first. But if your dome doesn't come off (rotating it counterclockwise) with a strap wrench, the odds are it won't with this purpose-built Hayward wrench either. I got my dome to move about a quarter turn on the top of the filter unit before it locked up and wouldn't budge. I tried putting more weight into it. I tried hitting the wrench handle with a board. I tried hitting the wrench (shielded by a piece of wood) with a mallet. I tried hitting the wrench handle directly with a mallet. I got about one-quarter-turn further from all the above in about an hour of trying before the wrench broke. I then was stuck doing as I read of someone doing on Reddit--using an oscillating saw to cut off the main bulb of the dome, then make a series of shallow cuts from the now-exposed inside of the dome into its male threads, being VERY careful not to cut through the dome's threads into the female threads of the filter housing. After making 4 or 5 shallow cuts into the dome's threaded portion, I put the oscillating tool aside and used a sharp narrow chisel and hammer to break the dome inward at the threads. In the end, it came apart very easily and I was able to put the new dome on after using the corner of the chisel to remove ridges from the dome's male threads that had broken off and remained in the valleys of the filter housing's female threads. Hope this helps someone else who faces this predicament....

Do I really need this tool?
After 27 years of not having this tool I decided to order it. Price is not very high but it did the trick about 30 minutes after receiving this. Worth every penny it cost. The top air release valve screw broke off inside the dome. After so long of a time it was plastic and brittle. So I was able to remove the top dome of Hayward filter and remove the broken part of the screw. Easy! I had tried to remove the dome in the past but was very hard to do. It came unscrewed so easy. Another tool to add to my stash. Thanks!

I found it easy to use on a ~10+year old filter
The plastic is a bit thin and flexes when turning. The key is to make sure your flat, your applying gradual motion. If it's not moving. This plastic will not do well with a hammer, mallet, or a leverage tool. Try in a back and forth motion. It could also help to make sure you don't have a vacuum built up in the filter.

Did the job.
Chances are I will never use this tool again, but it was necessary to remove top portion of my filter to replace the o-ring /seal. It worked, the new seal is installed. No leaks!

Worked great
Needed this custom piece of plastic to remove dome on my Hayward 200 filter, so I could finally change out that 10 year old sand. Did its job nicely.

Makes life easier.
Makes it real easy to crack open the lid on your sand filter. In tried using a strap wrench but it's a lot easier with the proper tool.
