Above and Beyond All My Expectations

This watch is truly unique in several ways. 1 - Both front and back covers have the engraved and antiqued design that you see in the pictures 2 - The rear case has a lovely ornate ring around the outer part of the interior glass, which beautifully frames the internal mechanical workings of this watch. 3 - Even the box/packaging for this watch is super high quality! The entire presentation from start to watch is beautifully done, gorgeous, and just...oozes of quality. ---- QUALITY Warranty — Charles-Hubert also stands by their work for the lifetime of the watch with the included limited lifetime warranty, which is very reassuring that this piece is intended to last a lifetime. Based on all of this, I'm intending to carry/keep this gorgeous, stunning, intriguing, work-of-art-in-my-pocket watch around with me for LIFE. Time-Keeping — As for accuracy of this mechanical watch, Charles-Hubert guarantees an accuracy of +/- 40s per day, but I think this is a gross exaggeration (in a good way). After winding and setting the watch to align exactly with my Apple Watch yesterday, it's still keeping perfect time, down to the seconds! I only needed to wind it once, and it still has plenty of spring left for the rest of the day! Rear Opening Case — For those wondering if the double hunter case (i.e., front and back opening case) is going to get in the way of opening the watch regularly, I've found that the back case is actually way less likely to open than the front. I've even accidentally opened the watch face-down in my hand, but the front case still opened up instead of the back Not sure if this is intended or not, but with as meticulously detailed as this watch already is, I'm inclined to think it is most definitely intentional. So don't worry, y'all. The back will only open when YOU want it to. It's not going to accidentally pop open in your pocket or annoyingly open whenever you check the time. ---- PRICING I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but my watch appears to have come from a display case with the price tag still tied around the pocket chain. The sale price? $264.95. So for only $150 plus free Prime shipping, this is one helluva steal! Compared to some other watches at this price range, I definitely feel like this one is a WAY better deal. All the ornate trappings and double full Hunter case makes this really stand out. FOR THOSE NEW TO MECHANICAL WATCHES (like myself) DO NOT OVER-WIND. The instructions say to wind 30-50 half-turns. A good gauge of this is when you feel just a touch more resistance in the winding mechanism that when you first started from nothing. This means you are at the maximum safe range for ideal and continued operation. If you over-wind (like I did), the watch will tick noticeably faster. After an hour, it was right back where it should be, but you should definitely avoid over-winding, since it can ruin the spring. While not strictly necessary, it is best to push down on the release button when closing the cases to prevent extra wear-and-tear on the latch. This will ensure your watch will continue to open and close properly for years to come. ---- VERDICT Whether you're looking for your first pocket watch ever, or if you're a seasoned collector, or especially if you're a big fan of Charles-Hubert as I am now, this watch is a no-brainer. Get it. You will be soooo happy that you did. The one draw I have s that I can't tell the front from the back because they're so similar, but I plan on fixing that in the future with a nice single-lettered engraving on the front, which will only make this watch that much more special to me.

Nice touches everywhere

There are much more expensive pocket watches out there, but if you want a nicely crafted piece without going broke, this Charles Hubert fits the bill. How long will it last? I don't know, but it feels heavy and fairly substantial in your hand. I'm confused about a couple of things: The info says it's a Swiss movement, but it is not punched anywhere on the movement itself. Does anyone know where the movement was made? I even looked on the Charles Hubert website and it didn't tell me where the movement was made. Also, it's a little hard to read at a glance because the exhibition dial blocks part of the hands. Other than that, it looks great and I love it. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one.

Quality Timepiece

This was an excellent gift, everything from the box it's packaged in to the watch, and even the chain are high quality, made with great care and attention to detail. The glass design allows you to see the workings of the watch from both the front and back. It's very sturdy and I feel confident it will last a lifetime.

quality watch!

I love this watch! When you pick up this watch you can tell right away that this is a quality built watch. My favorite part of this watch is the details on the inside of the back around the window to the gears. this is a detail the manufacturer did not have to do especially since it can't be seen unless you open the back cover. I also love the detailing at the top. It reminds me of a old mantel clock.

a fine watch

When I was a kid I had a simple wind up pocket watch.Best watch I ever had, until this one. This is a outstanding hassle free wind up pocket watch that is both beautiful and practical. NO BATTERIES REQUIRED! If your life is sooooo busy you can't find time each day to wind your watch, you are just plan too busy for your own good. I love this watch. Takes me back to a time in my life when craftsmen took pride in their lives and pride in what they made. This is a great watch.
