Works as an accessory for a night or two.
I bought 9 of these pocket watches (3 of this model, and 3 each of two other models) as groomsman gifts for my wedding. Although I have no idea about the actual craftsmanship of the watches, they look fine enough to impress almost anyone. They require winding, and will not keep time without winding more a few days (I think). Resetting the time and winding them is easy enough, though. They work well as an accessory to a nice black-tie event, and will keep correct time for at least a few days (longer if you wind them every few days).

Would recomend it
Not just some spam fanboy review, I waited for almost a month before I wrote this. Edit: a few years later, still like it (10/2013) Pros: Beautiful silver watch Keeps decent time Good size Durable (owned a month as of yet so we'll see) mildly scratch resistant (not delicate, but not made of titanium either) Price is right Mechanical pocket-watch that's easy to wind Cons (nitpicking): Sideways clock (personal thing, I prefer 12 to be at the chain) cannot view gears from the back, only from the clock-hand side 4 is IIII instead of IV (again, being picky)--EDIT: apparently it has to do with an old tradition, comment below goes into more detail be careful with the clasp mechanism to close it, always press the release as you close it, you'll thank me for this later Other thoughts: Would love to see this in a rose gold/brass color Despite the look of the pocket clip, it really does hold well A bit more in depth: The photos don't do this watch justice Outter finish is mirrored at a perfect silver tone while the inside has a circle sanded texture, the gears all seem to work in harmony as clockwork should, giving the mechanics an almost lifelike feel. Gems and screws give a touch of color in addition to the silver and brass colored gears, quartz gems flashing and the screws have a purple (at least it was on mine) protective coating making them look as if someone had stuck an amethyst shard inside of the screw-hole. Watch ticking noise is at a level where you can hear it if your ear is near it but it will not disturb you while it rests on a table or in your pocket Time keeping: I set mine to the time clock (synced to a server) at work, this pocket-watch hasn't lost a single second as of yet (one month and continuing) Ease of winding: very easy How often to wind: no idea, I usually wind it every day but have gone almost two days without and it's kept going (not sure if that's normal or not) Method for setting time is the same pull out end pin/twist method that most non-digital watches have Comes with a manual Comes with a catalog of other pocket-watches (so you can see how expensive every other watch this company makes is (up in thousands for some)) All in all, a great watch, I'd recommend it to anyone. Even on my tight budget, I do not regret this purchase at all

charles hubert wind up pocket watch
Even with a regular schedule of winding, Every morning around the same time, I lose an average of 5-10 minutes a day. I held off writing a review till I had a months experience. If you are looking for a wind up pocket watch, you could save yourself some money and buy a chinese made one that would probably keep better time. Unfortunatly, I bought based on reviews, After buying and experienceing first hand, I would have to say that the majority of positive reviews must come from company employees. Save some $ and buy the chinese stuff Before our countrys CEO's outsource it to a country that is even cheaper. Edit. After another month and a halfs use testing it against a chinese model I bought prior to buying this one and at half the price, I have come to the conclusion that this watch is not worth buying even at half price. I get up at 5:00 AM every workday, While checking my Emails I wind both watches then when I'm dressed I head off to work. By the time I arrive home from work at around 6:00 PM, I check the watches time and wind them again. This watch has a proven record of loosing 10 to 15 minutes in a 12 hour period, Where as the Chinese watch is pretty much dead on, The most I have lost on the Chinese one is maybe a minute in a weeks time. The only thing left to do is continue the test to see which one dies first. But on a time keeping issue I can't see this one being worth anything other than a dressup or prop use, If it's losing 15 minutes in a 12 hour period, That's not a watch to me, more like a trinket and an overpriced one at that.

I love this watch, windup, classy, and looking good!
I like something made well that looks good, and I don't want anything battery operated. This timepiece comes well wrapped, and looks as good as a nine day weekend. Classy and simple, just like me.

Excellent Watch for a Good Price.
I received my pocket watch today and have been thrilled with it. It comes in a different box than the one pictured. It is in several layers of very chic packaging, which would make it ideal for a gift. The watch looks exactly as pictured and runs wonderfully. I find that the watch is silent unless I am within about 12 inches of the watch itself. The watch requires 30-40 half turns to fully wind up and should be done daily. The finish of the watch is clear chrome, which means that oil and finger prints do show up on it, but it does give it a very modern look to something so classical. The chain is sturdy and I don't plan to replace it. The mechanism to open the watch is fine, although closing it while depressing the button (as per the instructions in the box) is not as easy as it might have been. When you open the watch, you get a full view of the gears, which is fun to show others. It does have one downside, which is that the black hands are somewhat difficult to see at times because of the busy background. On the whole, I would rather have the view of the moving gears than not. On the whole, I unreservedly recommend this watch. ****************** Review update ****************** I’ve had this watch for nine years. It still runs well and I enjoy it.
