Beautifull Watch!
I have carried a pocket watch all my life. My last one was a battery model purchased at Wallmart. Was constantly replacing battery. Glad to be back with a winder. I like being able to watch the inner workings, but the clear face does make the hands slightly more difficult to see. All in all, very nice!

This is really a beautiful watch. It keeps great time
This is really a beautiful watch. It keeps great time, though it did take me a couple of days to get into the habit of winding it everyday. That's not a complaint in any way, just an observation. A very solid feeling watch.

Cover would not stay closed
Pretty watch. But after opening cover 3 times the cover would not stay closed. The button stuck.

Simply a beautiful classic! Totally recommend! Pls note this is a big pocket watch - lovely? Yes, but big!
I love the tone of gold used to plate this piece - soft, very elegant. Easy to read the time, easy to set & easy to wind, this is a beautiful addition to my growing collection of CH pocket watches. As with all my polished pieces, I use a jeweller's cloth to handle this watch, giving it a quick polish every day, making sure to remove my greasy fingerprints before winding it. IMHO, if yoiu want this as youe EDC, expect scuffs & scratches - unless you carry it in a vest or pant pocket that is lined with soft cloth, its gonna happen!!! For this reason, many timepieces are 'brushed', whether they are gold-plated, stainless steel, bronze finish, a 'brushed' finish is less likely to show the scars of every-day use than a polished piece like this one. Pieces with designs - check out the Chas. Hubert 3841 & 3842, these two have covers designed to 'hide' the marks of daily use - are much more likely to stay 'new-looking' longer, even as an EDC piece. Also Chas Hubert has several demi-, or half-hunter models with lovely, intricate floral scrolls on their outer edges which lead up to the Roman Numerals that encircle the middle opening, the reason these models are referred to as half-hunters & coming with floral designs etched on their back cover, really add to the 'new' look lasting a long-time. I must say that to date I have been very pleased with all my Charles Hubert pocket watches, quartz & mechanical. Unlike some reviewers who have received dirty, broken timepieces, some with dust/dirt under the crystal, all my pieces have arrived well-packaged, intact & in fancy boxes replete with velvet bag, matching chain & warranty card. All in all, very suitable for gift giving! I have other brands that I collect & some of which have come with just a bubble wrapper, some in small cardboard boxes with only a few using such attractive gift boxes as CH. I will say that if CH is out of your price range, then two manufacturers that have nice, if more simple gift boxes are Kronen Schone & ManChDa - both are quite affordable with a wide range of styles. Now the biggest difference I have found in lower-priced models & the more expensive brands, CH; Dakota; Regent Hills; Gotham are fit & finish of the cases & the cases themselves: to my eye, most of the pocket watches today are using some varient of the Chinese 17 jewel lever mechanism. The clasp holding the cover closed & the covers, back & front, seems more solid on these models. But I am not sure this will affect in any way the longevity, reliability or sentmental value that may accrue to a particular watch. I have yet to afford a Woodford never mind a more expensive Swiss brand... But I do enjoy collecting & looking at these modern offerings of a yesteryear timepiece - taking care of them, polishing them, checking their time against a very old quartz Citizen watch (from India) & just listening to all of them ticking away. Its incredible to see so many variations on the same theme, in this case, a watch, that people have come up with...
