Can't complain at all this is a nice chest protector very lightweight but still can take a blow. Use for high school baseball

Champion Sports Umpire Chest Protector
I like it. I have a 48 chest and a 36 waist. The size 17 inch fits perfectly, with hardly any adjusting. This model has better clips on the bottom front than the other's I have purchased. The easy clips don't show through my shirts. The extra protection makes it difficult to drive a car while wearing this. I suggest you DO NOT put this one until you get to your game..... I sometimes run late and get dressed while driving to my games. You can not put this on while your trying to drive to you game. If you do, get ready to crash your car... lol I do high school baseball and softball. You do not need this protector for 8 year olds through 13 year olds. This was made for 60-90 mph fastballs. The ball bounces right off of you and you feel no pain.........

I use this chest protector every week. I believe it would be fine to use up to and including high school baseball. It is a little restrictive because it is a hard plastic chest protector. I have taken some very hard shots directly to the torso and didn't feel a thing. Follow up 12/14/2016 I used this protector for fall ball this year. 20+ games 10 to 12 year olds. I was hit several times in the shoulders once right at my collar bone 70 mph+. It didn't hurt at all. All that being said it feels restrictive I am constantly lifting and adjusting during the game. I recommend you buy the arm extensions I got hit several times in the biceps area. I think this is mostly due to the the vest limiting your arm movement/location. I do not have experience with other hard shell protectors but I think overall this is a good buy.

Nice upgrade
I recieved this protector at the start of the season this year and so far I am very impressed. This was an upgrade for me - wanted something a little more stout after doing a couple of Junior Little League games with a "starter" protector last year - not much protection when the catcher is having a bad game. So far this season I have done a couple of Junior games and took a few shots - didn't really feel much of an impact. Also took a couple of foul balls off the shoulder plates this past weekend in an 11-12 year old game and didn't feel a thing. It is a very comfortable chest plate and I would recommmend it to anyone looking for a chest plate to work Little League games in. Granted, I have only used a foam "starter" protector prior to this one so perhaps I'm a little biased. But I can say that I am much more comfortable behind the plate using this protector compared to using my previous protector.

For New Umpires
I have been an umpire for 36 years and have for the past 25 years of that time umpired 14 and up with an ocassional 12 year old. I have used the West Vest for the last 11 years and feel very confident with it and rate it A+. The Champion Chest Protector is comparible in design with a lower profile. It is more comfortable than the West Vest but does not limit the feel of the impact of a baseball coming off the bat of an 18 year old. I could still feel some discomfort. I will stop short of not recommending it to anyone because it is a good protector. At my age maybe I am more sensitive than someone who is 24. I have not given up on it and will continue to use it for 12U. I will recommend it to young umpires just starting to do the plate in 9s, 10s, 11s, and even 12s. I will try using it sometimes and maybe I will adjust. I would give the Champion Protector a B- rating.

Good product
Fits well. I am a more active umpire and this does not limit my movement in any way. Have taken a couple fouls already and have felt nothing. Good product

Motocross rib protector
This will work as a motocross / dual sport motorcycle protective vest. That's what I bought it for. The important value, above all else, is to protect the rib cage against a possible fall against rocks. I can even fit my protective motocross coat over it. Bruised or fractured ribs, which I've experienced before in unplanned crash falls, can cost a fortune in the emergency room not to mention the many weeks required to heal them. This umpire chest protector is much less inexpensive then official motocross gear.

Good buy
I umpire fastpitch softball, various ages. I have taken some shots to the chest and received no injuries. Seems as if I sweat a lot wearing this chest protector. One thing I would like to see changed is the fasteners. They tend to stick out in the stomach area. Not a huge issue. Overall I like the protector. Great for the price. I have not done may high school games, usually only up to about 16U so not sure about additional speed with high school pitching. I think it would work fine though.

Trustworthy
Very sturdy protector; if MiLB guys can trust it, l will too! Very accurate description, and got an amazing Black Friday price! Not at all impressed with the T-hooks, can't get them to lay flat...hopefully, the T-hooks on the replacement harness l've ordered, are a better fit!
