This is the cord you are looking for--an affordable NEMA 6-20 extension cord for shop tools.
Ignore the confused reviews and questions. This is a NEMA 6-20 Extension cord for USA-standard 240v tools/appliances. (Not "normal" household stuff though.) As an aside to try to clear-up some confusion, 6-20 *is* a mirror-image of the NEMA 5-20 plug/receptacle standard, which is higher-amperage (20) version of the 5-15 (15 amp). Most household receptacles , what people think of as "normal" are 5-15 (while sometimes being on 20-amp circuits, confusingly). NEMA 6-20 means it is two hots and a ground conductor, for 220/230/240/250/whatever you want to call it voltage, vs, 110/115/120 "normal" 1-hot, 1-neutral, and a ground, wiring. Typically in a house, the range and dryer would be the only things running at 240, but those use a different (higher amperage) plugs. A few bigger portable A/C units would use 240V and this style of extension cord. Otherwise, the most common place one would use a 6-20 plug set would be in medium-duty shop tools (more than 120v, but not 3-phase or high-amp welders, etc.). In my case I needed a temporary extension cord for my 240v air compressor. (Garage is in middle of reorg, and compressor wasn't in its normal place, and getting it back there had a couple other projects in line first, but I needed air for another project right now . . . ) Think a few portable electric car chargers can plug into a 6-20, but am not personally familiar. Cord works as one would expect a NEMA 6-20 extension cord. I've not *seen* a 6-15 receptacle in the wild, so think this should work for most people. One vertical blade, one horizontal. Quality seems good, although plug seemed very tight on first use. Looks like a household cord vs. a shop/garage, but that's a very minor quibble.

Great extension for 20 Amp, 220-240 Volts
This is a great extension. But be aware, this is for 20 amp, 220-240 volts. This extension would be used on large 220-240 volt window air conditioners. There is a totally different plug/socket configuration for 20 amp, 110-120 volts. The difference is the RIGHT electrical slot on the outlet. Is it vertical or horizontal?. On a 20 amp, 220-240 volt outlet, the slot on the right is always horizontal. On a 20 amp, 110-220 volt outlet, the slot on the right is always vertical. In the pictures included, the 110-120 volt outlet picture can be used for a 15 amp, or a 20 amp 110-120 volt plug. The 220-240 volt outlet picture is for 15amp, or 20 amp, 220-240 volt plug. Notice the RIGHT slot. That is what the big difference is.

Only for 250V!! NOT for normal 120V/20A.
Crap!...nice cord, but it DOES NOT HAVE THE NORMAL 20A/120V PLUG with sideways prong....THIS IS A 250V cord and the OTHER prong is sideways.....so I couldn't use it for my regular 120V washer/dryer. The product description does say 250V (I assumed that just meant it could easily handle 120V...oops)....it would be nice if the seller would put 250V in the main item title and make it clear to people that it won't work in a normal 20A outlet. (If you're still confused, look up electric plugs and see how a 20A plug has one prong sideways, and a 250V plug has the other prong sideways...there are lots of different configurations of plugs apparently, who knew).

Woods famous quality BUT
Great product BUT the female end was for a commercial use I have not seen before and not for the homeowner who would choose a conventional extention cord. Woods needs to photo the ends on the carboard wrap.

Not a standard NEMA 5-20 connection
Bought this cord to connect an APC UPS with a standard NEMA 5-20R receptacle. The horizontal pin and slot are on the opposite (hot) side of the connector from where they should be (neutral). Maybe this is standard somewhere else, but not where I'm at (USA). Maybe the previous reviewer should spend sometime looking in the mirror before accusing someone of being too stupid to live... I stand corrected, the problem is the item title does not make clear it is for 250/220 volts only.

BEWARE of the Prongs!
If I wanted to extend my 20 amp cord for my AC window unit it would have been perfect! BUT I bought this to use for my 20 amp tanning bed and the prongs didn't match up! WTF! Both appliances are manufactured in the USA, I don't know why there is a difference, so BEWARE. Luckily, return was quick and easy! I am very satisfied with that!

This cable might work but probably not for you
The reviews are confusing and I am sure the cable works for someone. it seems well made. That said I could not find an outlet at lowes it would fit in. If you need a 20 amp extensions you're probably better off making one or having an electrician make one for you.
