Very nice!
This item works great. Install this, and set the water heater to 140 degrees. This is preset to 120 degrees. By doing this you'll gain more hot water for longer. Yes you will use a little more fuel but it's worth it. The only down side is these tend to go out after a few years. You'll start to notice temperature fluctuations from hot to cold. Just a heads up.

A lot of cheap parts, but at a good price...
I originally had two commercial grade hot water heaters with Watts hot water extenders which worked quite well. After one of the hot water heaters failed in about 25 years, I received a new Honeywell AM-1 extender valve with the new hot water heater and made the mistake of throwing out the Watts valve. While expensive, the Honeywell valve was useless. It could not be adjusted to produce real hot water and tended to allow hot water to go back up the cold water line resulting in a real short jolt of very hot water on occasion. The appealing thing of this package is that it checks off all the right boxes. Check valves on both incoming lines prevent heat loss from cooling water coming out of the water heater sinking back and being reheated. This circulation is an energy wasting heat conduction loop if there is no check valve to prevent it. The check valve on the cold water line prevents the jolt of super hot water on startup. If you buy a valve which does not build in check valves, be sure to buy them separately. The washers with strainer screens provided prevent debris in the water lines from plugging up the valve working similar to the strainers on sink faucets. A good idea. Now the details: Low lead brass-appears good quality Tee connector provided: useful if your hot water heater has pipe configuration they assume(mine doesn't) Main Body: I was hoping to attach a hose connection to the hot water input. This has special shallow hose threading that basically needs the union provided. The union holds the very thin washer/strainer but requires a male pipe thread on input. I ended up buying a low lead brass short nipple to connect this union to the input hose. Expensive units monitor actual water temperature using a wax based sensor. From the description of this device, I suspect it is just a cheap proportioning valve mixing hot and cold water in a given ratio. But for my purposes, it is good enough and it works! The kit includes a temperature gauge for output temperature. The one I got is wildly inaccurate and useless. I used a good quality corrugated hose previously purchased for cold water input. It surprised me that I could not get a good seal with the thin washer/strainer provided in the kit I ran out of thread on the valve body when tightening. I ended up using both the thick washer provided with the hose AND the thin washer strainer. The combo worked. I used the provided corrugated hose for hot water output. This is not a standard hose! It has a shorter threaded connector piece than standard hoses. It needs the unusually thin washers provided. Do not substitute washers from a standard corrugated hose or try using these thin washers in a standard hose.

Large Family Review.
Our family of 8 hasn't run out of hot water yet and it's been a few weeks since the install. Definitely worth the investment. Installing with Shark bites made my install very easy.

Works with tankless water heater
We have a Bosch combi furnace that heats the house and the hot water. Alas the hot water temperature on startup (set to 120 degrees) was up to 150 degrees F which is risk for scalding and probably relates to the unit heating the house. Although it did settle down to the set 120 degrees, the plumber felt the only solution was a temp controlled mixing valve ($800 to install). I installed the unit with SharkBite fittings (the slip connection on the cold water pipe worked but was a bit of a challenge to make it slip!). There does seem to be a rubber seal missing for the top union. It worked right away and works perfectly. For those considering a Combi house/water heater it is probably best to install an anti-scald valve with the furnace installation.

Does what it claims to do
I am not a pro plumber but have a decent amount of plumbing experience, mostly in the rigging of stuff to make it work arena :) I found this thing to be pretty easy to install, all things considered. Due to the location of my water heater, I put 90 degree elbows on both inlet and outlet to make it easier to add all of this additional hardware. I was able to get this installed with zero trips to the hardware store, which is a rarity for me. Some reviewers complained of missing gaskets but mine had all parts needed included. You will need a rubber gasket for each connection except the connections directly to your water heater inlet and outlet. For those, teflon tape should be used. Once I got it all installed, I tested and found the water temp was 120 degrees on the money without me making any adjustments. I set my water heater thermostats to 150 degrees upper and 145 degrees lower to maximize my hot water. We are a family of 10 with one 50 gallon water heater. We can all take showers at night now without having to wait for the hot water to build back up.

So far, so good although I chased a leaky connection.
Overall, I like this product and what it does which is deliver more 120 degree water than without it. I can tell the difference when filling up a large bath tub, or when doing lots of loads of laundry, etc. It certainly was much cheaper than a new, larger, water heater. It seems to be of high quality construction and the installation was straight forward, although I did have a small leak between the union and mixing valve (step 1 of instructions). Once I used a washer, the leak went away and has been fine since. I'm not sure why a washer is not included or why mine seemed to leak the way it did. Time will tell how much adjusting will be necessary and how long it will last, but so far, so good. PS, I had a question and called into their tech support, left a voicemail message, and never got a call or email back. That was disappointing.

Fits and works well
Revised review: Installed it as directed and seems to work well. Finally able to understand how the valve system works and I am now able to control my water heater temperature with amazing precision. Highly recommended to anyone looking to upgrade or replace a mixing valve, does same if not better job for an amazing price. Also a solution for any concerns with Legionella or anyone having issues with scalding.

Excellent for 2 story condo
We have electric hot water tank that always felt like it was running out on a 60G tank. Adding this to the unit was very easy (aside from needing an extra flat washer as others have stated) and we have literally never run out of hot water since.

Not bad for the price, most mixing valves do not have a guage that comes with it.
Decent for its use, had a hard time getting it to adjust but managed. Note the Guage is very helpful.
