The Fort Knox of Wine Luggage
This case is pretty much the Fort Knox of wine luggage. Robust outer plastic shell, with incredibly thick foam liner will hold all types of wine bottles: Bordeaux, Burgundy, etc. When fully loaded, my clocked in at 68lbs, which is just shy of the 70lbs that I got for sitting in business on the way back from France. Please consider your ability to maneuver this weight when considering purchase; my Mother also bought one, and was excited until she realized that it was too heavy for her to deal (placing in and taking out of the car, etc.) when full. It also does not come with TSA locks, so I bought two which worked great. My only beef with this item is the cost. At over $300, plus the excess baggage fees / upgrade cost, one could easily just ship wine home and save the hassle of bringing this beast. So where would something like be worth the money? 1. If you are traveling to a wine destination that does not have consolidated shipping, and you enjoying buying 1 - 3 bottles from 4 - 12 different wineries. In this case, without consolidated shipping, it would cost a fortune to ship such small quantities from so many places. Furthermore, most places in Europe won't ship less than 6 bottles. 2. If you are traveling to a wine destination that does not ship at all. There are quite a few small, independent wine producers, that don't want the hassle of shipping to anyone besides their exporter. 3. For those who drive to cottages, campsites, or road-trips a few times a year, and want to bring wine with them, this would be better than having a bunch of bottles rattling in the back of the car. If you are going any place with consolidated shipping (Burgundy, Valpolicella), it actually is better to ship because then they take off the VAT tax (20%!). So if you are looking at purchasing this case for an upcoming trip to wine country, do a little research on shipping options before selecting "buy it now." There is a chance it would cost just as much to ship, which case you save yourself the hassle of lugging this behemoth around.

Comparison of CasePro with Vinguardevalise
I ordered the CasePro 12 bottle carrier and the Vinguardevalise (the 12-bottle version). Overall I chose function over form and went with the CasePro. The CasePro is more industrial looking and heaver, but I have complete confidence my wine will make it undamaged. Here are the pluses and minus of each: CASEPRO: Pluses + The thing is indestructible. I think this could fall out of the plane and your wine would be ok. + The bottle slots can easily hold even bigger 750ml bottles (e.g., Turley or Champagne). + Construction is very solid, no worries about the wheels falling off this. + There are 5 latches to keep the crate closed, and you can attach multiple locks. Minues - Its heavy. It weighs: 24lb empty, 37lb with 4 bottles, 49.5lb with 8 bottles, and 65lb full - It doesn't look like normal luggage, which makes it more likely that security/customs will question what is in it. - There are a few places where the bottom of the bottles can make direct contact with the plastic case sides (versus foam), but I think it is solid enough that it won't be an issue. VINGUARDEVALISE Pluses + It looks like a normal suitcase--less likely to be questioned by security/customs. + It much lighter. 13.5lb empty, 27lb with four bottles 38.5 with 8 bottles, and 54lb full. + You can take out inserts and use it partially (or fully) as a regular suitcase. Minuses - It will only fit standard size 750ml bottles. Larger bottles like Turley or Champagne will not fit without buying different inserts for about $50/ea, which also reduces the capacity of the case to 8 bottles. - The build is much less solid. I have concerns about the wheels falling off. Also the sides flex somewhat because it is thinner plastic. - It could be possible (though unlikely) for the bottles to dislodge from the foam and bounce around inside the suitcase if it was handled just right.

Good, but not as Good as a Pelican
This case is perfectly functional. But the bottle necks are not held as snugly in place as I would prefer them to be. In order to be able to hold a larger variety of fat bottles, the designer has a made a trade off on tight bottle fit. The foam neck rings, which are meant to adjust for that wiggle, really are not very effective. I have had a smaller Pelican wine case for many years that holds 6 bottles very securely, with a minimum of vibration inside the case. It feels much more secure and durable than this larger Case Pro model , which I expect will be cracked , or otherwise done-in, by an airline eventually. If you can afford a Pelican model, go that way.

Perfect for normal sized bottles...some customization for larger ones
This case is solidly built with a great level of internal padding. It is perfect for for normal sized 750ml bottles of wine and if that is all you are getting this is 5* product. If however you have bottles that are slightly taller (thanks "unnamed" winery) you will have to do some customizing. in my case we had to remove some of the padding in the lid/top and fit in a cutting board with foam padding to fit the bottles. While this is not the fault of the manufacturer it is important to point out and know that wineries and distilleries are experimenting with different sized bottles with bottle height now no longer standard. I chose overnight shipping of the box and it survived the gauntlet that is FedEx. I would recommend this for anyone looking to bring back 12 bottles but agin be prepared for potential modification to the case pending bottle size and know it will be extremely heavy (75-80lbs) if you plan to check it.
