Worth the money, would buy again
I purchased this pet gate to upgrade the ancient one I was originally using that you have to step over and nearly fall over every time. The gate on this is so much easier to maneuver through with laundry, groceries, etc. The lock is sturdy and the additional flip-down lock at the bottom of the gate secures it even more. I have two medium - large size dogs and it keeps them away from my cat's litter boxes and food. One of the dogs used to climb over the old, short pet gate; this one is much taller and gives no opportunity for climbing. I also have a Dachshund and she is able to step through the cat door, so small breed dogs will definitely fit through. Installation was a little complicated with the extension, but you just have to trial and error adjust how wide the gate needs to be for your doorway. I would definitely recommend having a second person to help with installing because there are several parts that have to be adjusted and it can be a lot to handle with just one person.

Really easy to put together and install
Put together in about 15 minutes and had installed in doorway 5 minutes later. Bought this to stop my daughters dogs from chasing my cat into the back room where her food is so really liked the small door at the bottom and the fact that this is tall enough to stop the German Shephard. Instructions said to install the stoppers in the door with screws, but as I only want this up when the dogs are here, just installed it in the doorway. Works really well. It is not as sturdy as I would like (the older wooden ones had very little wiggle to them) but good enough to stop the dogs so I'm happy. As this is installed in a door reached by a small entryway, the dogs don't have room to make a run and charge the gate (which the shephard would do), not an issue that it isn't as sturdy. Like others, I truly wish they would use a larger font for the instructions. I had to use both my glasses and a magnifying glass (pretty sure the font is 6 pt or less). Printing the instructions on a full size of paper would certainly help.

Mostly Sturdy, But You Have To Watch Out For A Couple of Things During Installation
First, this gate is more sturdy than I expected. It's mostly aluminum with a few plastic parts. More on that in a moment. The gate comes with all of the parts you need to install it without any tools of your own. It also has a little pet door that a small dog or a typical cat can fit through so if you have pets and toddlers, you can leave the pet door open and the main gate closed. The gate also has a plastic mechanism that allows you to open the gate in one direction or the other, or to open it in either direction. The gate installs easily in about 5 minutes, but you have to pay attention to a couple of key things in the installation instructions (and be aware of a couple of things not in the installation instructions). 1) Not in the installation instructions: The gate comes with an extension in case your doorway is more than 32.5" wide. If your doorway is close to that width, try inserting the extension and and THEN the "spindle rods" and check to see whether the BOTTOM of the gate will fit in your doorway (the top will not fit at this point - this is by design, and it will fit when you're done). This is important to check because if your doorway is 33" wide or more, you need to use the extension because the spindle rods need to be extended no more than 2.5" on either side when you tighten them. My doorway was 32" exactly, and that means that the spindle rods are extended 2.25" on each side of the gate, and the extension is just a bit too wide to fit my doorway. 2) Included in the Instructions - When you install the gate, you have to tighten the bottom spindle rods first, but not quite all the way. Do not try to tighten the top spindle rods first. I installed the bottom horizontal frame of the gate flush with my floor, however, you need to be aware that when you tighten the top spindles, the gate will pull up slightly on the side where the gate latch is, which means that the bottom spindle rod will also pull up slightly and the base of the frame will not be perfectly flush with your floor. You can also install the gate so the bottom frame is up to 2-3" above your floor if you prefer. 3) Included in the Instructions - When you tighten the top spindle rods, it's going to look like the top of the gate frame is too wide for your doorway and that the gap where the latch is will look like it's too wide. When you tighten the top spindle rods, particularly the one on the side where the latch is, the gap will close. This is by design. You just need to tighten the top spindle rods to make sure that the latch closes securely, but not too much. It's easy to adjust. The gate also comes with four plastic "wall cups" that you can screw into the door frame and the spindle rods sit in those wall cups for a little added stability. I was installing the gate as a pet gate, so I don't need the wall cups and skipped them. However, if you are using the gate as a baby gate, you should follow the instructions to install them (which entails drawing a circle around the base of each spindle rod, loosening the spindle rods and removing the gate, and then installing the wall cups with the screws provided - in which case you will need a philips screwdriver). The only reason I give the gate a 4 star rating for "sturdiness" instead of 5 stars is because of the way the top spindle rods tighten and hold the top of the gate in place. Unlike the bottom of the gate which has a single horizontal frame piece (after you screw the two end frame pieces together at the beginning of the installation), the top is a little less sturdy because it has to have the hinge and the latch to open the gate. The spindle rod on the hinge side of the gate is therefore a little bit looser than the rest of the spindle rods. You can't tighten it too much because then you won't be able to open the latch. Again, for a pet gate, this is fine, but for a baby gate, it's super important that you install the wall cups to ensure that the top spindle rod can't slip out of the frame. It would take some pulling or pushing at the top of the gate to do that, but it's definitely possible if you don't install the wall cups. Overall, this was a good value for the money. I have used different baby gates in the past. This one is far more sturdy than the plastic or wood pressure gates, and it's a good value for the price.

Pease of mind
New puppy in the house? I have been babysitting a rather large puppy that is everywhere and into everything. This gate brings piece of mind when running errands. It’s easy to install and provides my grand puppy a safe environment.

I needed to keep the cats out of some of the rooms and this works perfectly. It is tall enough that they don't think of jumping over it. It looks good and the opener is easy to use.

A Complete Waste Of Money!
Bought two of these gates for our home! To be honest they were the biggest waste of money I have ever spent. The quality of the gates feels cheap and nasty, they fitted into the door frames but wouldn't tighten up enough to give a sturdy fit! The gates themselves were very narrow and would only stay open if you put something in front of it! We have replaced them with far better quality gates from Pet Planet and the new gates were cheaper too! I wouldn't bother wasting money on these gates, you would be better shopping around!

Great gate to keep the dogs out! Medium sized dogs may fit through the little pet door
The media could not be loaded. I have two of these gates. One to keep the dogs out of the guest bedroom where the cat sleeps and one to keep the dogs out of basement where the litter box is. They are quite sturdy but I am sure if my dogs rammed it, the gate would pop off where I have them. I do not have the extra cups installed on the door frames though and that may improve stability in case of a dog charging. The gate is quite smooth to open and close and convenient if you are carrying things as you pass through the gate. The colour is also quite nice and goes with anything. As of yet, neither of my dogs can jump the gate. However, we recently discovered our Aussie Shepherd cross can fit through the little pet/cat door. Thankfully he only does this if he is ill and sneaks to the basement to go to the bathroom. Our Belgian Shepherd cross cannot fit through the cat door, and he is more likely to eat the litter box contents, so a success there. Our Aussie Shepherd is approximately 23 inches tall and 48 lbs and quite smart. If your dog is of similar stats or smaller, they may be able to get through the little door as well.

Has held strong for 3 years
We bought this gate in 2019 to give the cat a sanctuary space where she could hide from the dog we'd recently adopted. Since then, the gate now guards the closet that is the cat's litter room to ensure that the dog won't go in there and do unspeakable things. I pass through this gate multiple times each day and noticed today that it has never so much as budged, so figured I'd write a review to that effect. You'd think it might've loosened its hold on the door jambs but not at all. The locking mechanism is still as good as the day the gate arrived and again, this gate gets opened and slammed shut a LOT. The little cat door will latch shut if not secured open, which we've dealt with via the high tech solution of securing the little door open with a string tied to the gate. This does not impede movement of the gate although it is a bit of a design oversight. I can't speak to whether the gate will hold up to a serious beating (the kind a big dog might give it if the dog really wanted to get beyond the gate). The polite old dog we adopted regards the gate as absolutely off limits and has never so much as touched it. However, I think the fact that the gate hasn't moved from its secured place or visibly degraded at all in three years is testament enough to its durability!

Usada con un bullterrier inglés
Compré esta reja para poder mantener en la habitación a mi perro de 30 kg. La verdad no me decepcionó, siento que el seguro que tiene para la puertita en la parte inferior es más propenso a romperse rápido por ser de plástico pero cumple su función. Mi perro es muy hiperactivo y tenía miedo a que fuera a saltar sobre la reja pero ésta al tener barrotes verticales ayuda a evitar un escape. La instalación fue súper rápida, adicionalmente yo compré unos protectores de pares con antiderrapante para asegurarme que mi perro no pudiera tirar la reja ni aunque se lanzara contra ella. Hasta el momento ha funcionado muy bien! La recomiendo.
