I read some negative reviews on this

I just wanted to say despite the negative reviews, I gave it a shot. It is insanely easy if you just READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. I saw a lot of people saying there is a large gap and there is no way the gate will fit because it wont latch due to the gap. I did run into a spot where before the gate was fully assembled there WAS a 3inch gap that seemed to not want to close. Upon READING THE INSTRUCTIONS I discovered that once everything is in place you can tighten the screws on the outside (the ones that hold it in the round little frames that are screwed to the wall) and it will close the gap. I love this gate so much! It keeps my dog out of the cat's food. The cats can use the cat door. I can easily open and close the gate. The one downfall, which is honestly my fault for not measuring, is that I can not close the door due to the doorknob being in the way of the gate. An interesting oversight but honestly I don't even need the door closed with the gate there so its not a big deal.

Works Great

It's done a good job keeping my dogs out of the hallway and giving my cats the freedom to come and go. Three of my cats can just jump the gate, but my older cat can't so it's given him a lot more house to roam. I'm certain my enormous, dump truck of a puppy could take the gate out if he wanted, he's 6 months old and 80lbs (newfoundland dog), but he hasn't tried yet. My small border collie (37lbs) can fit through the cat door...but after getting put in time out for doing that, she hasn't tried again. She would if left home alone, so locking the cat door is important if leaving the house with her inside. Wasn't too difficult to put together. It does shift on the walls and needs readjustment, but I expected that. I'm buying a longer version for the kitchen next. Not unhappy with this purchase.

not good for pets

this was super easy to put together & install. I would caution anyone buying this for pets (small dogs or cats). My cat managed to fit his head through the bars and got stuck.

Better than i expected

Happily surprised at the design and quality. This is an effective little gate. It fits our oversize doorway, and is substantial enough that the enormous, smart dog respects it. The only issue -- and it's probably unique to non-standard doors -- is that the top of the gate hits the bottom of the doorknob. If the door is closed, it pushes that tension brace off the the door frame. We just leave the door open and the gate stays put.

Sturdy and reliable!

Extremely easy to assemble and fit to door frame. I love that I can open the gate either direction, most that you buy it is set on one way only. Extremely nice to come and go whichever way I please. Cat's love the little gate! Dogs (labs) can fit their head in, but nothing else. They have tried to climb through but the gate is so sturdy and tough, it won't budge!

Exactly what I was looking for

It's the tallest I was able to find and works out to be what we needed We have two standard poodles that tend to jump the gates. These are tall enough that they don't even try. The only things would be great if there were extenders available and if the gate came with the wall protectors. Other than that, these are great.

Good buy!

We live in a historic house with extremely narrow doors, so this wasn’t the best option for what needed it for. You don’t have to screw in the gate, though, which was preferred. It was still sturdy just tightening without damaging the door frame at all. It was the perfect height for our large dog, and the cat door was an easy learn for the cats. Would recommend 10/10.

brilliant cat door within the gate

this is a brilliant dog gate as it is higher than most and most important to me, has a cat flap within it. I have a very elderly GSD with worsening arthritic hips. I needed to stop him attempting the stairs as he had already had several slips which just made his hips worse. At first I installed a normal baby gate but the dog tried to climb over putting excess weight on the top of the gate and even worse my smallest cat tried to force her way through the gap in the gate bars and got her head stuck - panic ensued until I eventually turned her head to get her out, but it was scary. Then I saw this gate. I didnt think the cats would like going through the cat opening, but all 7 atook to it immediately and it has saved me having to constantly having to get up and let one of the cats in or out of the room. The cat opening is quite low on the gate so it was never going to work on the stairs, but I fitted the gate on the kitchen door instead and the whole thing is just perfect for my needs. The opening mechanism is also better than on a child gate in that you can just pull the opening gate to and it locks into place automatically.

Check mechanism before assembling

I am satisfied except for the operating mechanism for the door , this is different from the one advertised and is definitely not easy to use . My husband had fixed it in place , and didn't know the difference so now I am stuck with a hard to operate gate operation. The gate well assembled is sturdy and has good stability. Uou have yo push a button in and slide the whole thing back to open and it foes not auto close as I had expected it would ( although this is not mentioned in advert ) just would make sense really.

Perfect for lazy cats

My silly puddy tats didn't grasp that they could jump over the existing baby gate so I needed something more obvious (eye roll). This one keeps my bouncing 7 month old lab out of their hair. My Shih Tzu can get through the cat gate but he doesnt annoy them so it's not a problem. The gate itself is easy and quick to fit, sturdy enough and good value. UPDATE: A month in and the quality of the gate is good but the the cat access is too large as the labrador can get through as he is still very slim at 8 months old

generally happy with product not happy with blooming sticky labels which leave stickyness

The instructions were clear and the gate had a warning note that there would be a gap whilst setting it up, which I ignored then realised why it was there! One set of sticky labels are far too sticky to take off, whilst I need warnings I wish they would make them easy to remove :-( !!! I am not sure if a lockable cat flap is a good idea as it will get in the way and may need to remove it!
