Gate good for wide area
Needed a gate for our new rescue dog. This one works well but is somewhat hard to get in the correct groove to make it fit tight enough. Great price for a hard to find width. Would purchase again.

Great size
Great size for the entry to the kitchen. Keeps my crazy in or out places she doesn't need to be.

Only hate that fits my wonky doors and is sturdy enough for my dogs
I have weird sized doors so all of the fancy swingy doir gates (even adjustable) don’t really fit. While this is basic it works perfectly as the notches allow for maximum adjustment and it’s always secure.

Great for our cats
I have an older cat who decided one day she didn't like kids, feline or human, so I've been keeping her where she could have her own space. Problem, while she doesn't jump, the other cats do, so shorter gates weren't working and everyone was upset. This gate is great at keeping curious kittens & kids away from her. My only issue is mine was extremely hard to adjust, the sliding bar is very tight & took almost 3 of us to move. Not the biggest issue for us because it stays where it is, but something to look out for. Our younger cats have never tried to climb it. For us it's been perfect and the cats are much happier now that they have their own spaces.

Not what is pictured or described, minus 3 stars
1. Picture shows the rightmost and leftmost extremes being the vertical pieces of wood, but they are actually the horizontal pieces of wood, which extend over and past the vertical side pieces. Why is this worth knocking a star off? Read next two items. EDIT: I see that as of 4/7/22 they have updated the product page lead photo to show this design flaw. But ha-ha, they forgot to change the bottom photo (attached)! 2. Picture shows the gate's rubber bumpers pressed right up against both sides, and the text emphasizes no tools required. But the instructions (such as they are) say that the gate MUST be used with wall sockets (which means, no the gate cannot be installed without messing with your walls) and by the way they are NOT included, so while it is technically true you don't need to buy any additional tools, the implication that you don't need to buy anything else at all is patently false. 3. On the side where the lock bar hinge is, the lock bar extends past the edge and will dig into your drywall. For me it is not an issue because I only have one drywall to contend with, the other side being a sturdy hardwood stair post, and if the gate is turned properly (with the release bar on the other side from the child/pet) then it isn't facing the drywall and therefore it is a non-problem. But that was the luck of the draw, if the drywall and stair post had been switched or if both sides had been drywall, the locking bar would have dug right into the drywall. Why would they design the gate so that it would almost certainly dig into your drywall? Well, if the pressure points were buried inside wall caps (you know, the wall caps that are not included and not mentioned anywhere in the product page) then that would have increased the gap and not been a problem. Without the wall caps, the top and bottom pieces of wood come perilously close to the drywall; if your opening is not completely square, one or the other is going to dig into the wall. The instructions warn that without wall caps a child could knock the gate down, and I definitely see how that could happen. I am going to keep it, as it will work for me (only very occasionally will we have our grandchildren over and they will be under surveillance, plus if you whack the gate the two sets of wire fencing make a racket knocking into each other which, while for some people might be a minus, for us is a plus as it's sort of a built-in alarm that somebody is trying to force their way past the gate). But if you were planning on using this for long-term use, the product description and photos are completely deceptive and you'd be better off with a (much!) sturdier gate whose advertisement doesn't outright lie. EDIT: and trying to revise history by changing their product photos...

Perfect for my pet
I like the design yet wish it came all metal.

Works As Advertised But Not for All Dogs
I ordered two of these for areas we do not pas though often. I have ordered the gate that has a built in swing gate for the high traffic area but it has not come in yet. So we have to pull the gate out every time we enter this part of the house which has given me a good idea of the gate overall. I have no problem placing or removing this gate. It is very easy to me. For my wife she has some issues putting the gate in and will end up calling me to do it. We have a German Shepard/Fox Hound puppy and she does not even push against it so it works fine as a deterrent. If you have a dog that is dead set on getting on the other side I think it will and you may want to use an all metal type gate that screws into the wall. We had friends that had a dog that would go through any gate that was not screwed in. Problem was when they got a gate he could not push out he ended up eating a hole in the dry wall to get out. It all depends on your dog. Our last dog we could use a sheet of cardboard and she never tried to go around it or push it, she was a Saint Bernard. So you really need to match this to your dog. Even small dogs can be gate destroyers if it is in them. You do need to be careful on how much tension you put on the center rod. Too much and it will contact the walls and may leave a dimple. Too little and it will come out easy. We have found the perfect setting and marked the rod so it is easy to set it back up again without the trial and error phase. The frame is made of what appears to be a semi hard wood. Not as hard as oak is but still harder than pine. The center does have to bow out in order to put tension on the rubber bumpers. So for all of this I rate this three stars. It could be better but for the price and the dog I have it works fine. For those that have dogs that are hard to contain they do make shock collars that have small moveable transmitters that can be placed in a room and if the dog goes in that room or area of the house they get a slight shock. It is based of the invisible fence systems.
