A Great Tap Shoe

I tapped in high school and took it back up in my late 30's. These are the best tap shoes for tap. The middle section of the tap shoe is flexible and you have more control over the entire shoe than you do with other tap shoes. This becomes a big deal as you progress in tap. Overall a perfect tap shoe with adjustable taps.

They fit my wide feet - woo hoo

I have very wide feet and wanted to learn to tap dance which I thought would never happen. Then I found out that a local theater is planning to do Nunsense in their next season. I love the show and there are three different roles that I would love to do and two of them require tap dancing, So my search for tap shoes began. As I stated I have very wide feet EE and no where was I finding shoes beyond a W. So I decided to give these a try and see if I could make them work without killing my feet. I bought the leather, as I saw that Capezio had another shoe that wasn't leather as I thought I would be able to stretch the leather. I also bought a size bigger than what I usually wear. When I got the shoes I said a little prayer and tried them on, THEY FIT! I wondered what they would be like once I was in class dancing for an hour a time because they were a bit snug but I did not have any problems with them at all. I think having the laces helped, I notice that everyone else in my class with laced shoes have their laces closer that mine, but hey, that's why you have laces. I couldn't be happier with the shoes, I'm finally learning to tap dance and this will just give me more options for future shoes, and it is so much fun and great exercise.

Capezio is the go-to tap shoe.

Teletone II taps (single screw) are harder to find but my favorite tap shoe. Fuller, more resonant, and crisper sound. Toes are great for any toe-stand combinations, and heel-drops are impactful.

Nice Looking shoe...very small indeed

I ordered these in my street shoe size. They are way small, but the last 2 pairs of tap shoes I ordered were too big. I wear a 9 street shoe size, and returned 2 other styles I had ordered in 9W and 9 1/2 W because they were way too big. Now these are small....My old Capezio's were a size 8 W..... but they were made in America. These shoes though appear quite sturdy.. and hopefully if I ever get the right size, they will be comfortable. I did buy these in a 9 1/2 and they are very comfortable. I have been using them for a few months (I dance a LOT)...and my only complaint is that the screw in the left heel is constantly loosening up on its own. I put a little carpenters glue on the screw and put it back yesterday....lets see if that helps.

Very Comfortable Shoes and no break-in Period

I read several reviews that these were great shoes but required a significant amount of break-in time. I was hesitant to order them as I am a new tap student with very sensitive feet but with Amazon's return policy I figured I would give them a shot. I have to say I absolutely LOVE these shoes! I have no idea what previous reviewers mean by break-in period but these shoes fit great out of the box, were very comfortable and were not stiff or awkward at all! They felt like they had already been broken in and they give my feet the support that my beginner tap shoes lacked. My tap instructor is now in the process of helping me loosen the taps over time for a better sound and I could not be more pleased with these shoes as my second pair of tap shoes. I look forward to ordering bigger and better shoes in the future from Capezio as I advance and hopefully join a performance team in the future!

Not great, but okay

Great shoes. I'd call myself an intermediate to advanced tapper. I've been tapping for many many years and these are good shoes. I dislike the taps because they only have one screw per tap and that makes them incredibly easy to fall out if you are more of a hard tapper or hip hop styled. I had to actually glue them in place to make them stay. But once I glued them in place they seemed to be good. In street shoes, I usually take a 6-6.5 and based on the reviews I got a 7. I think I should have stuck with a 6.5 because they're a little bit large. If you have narrow feet, order according to street shoes. If your feet are wide, order up. Edit : After wearing these for a month, the screws keep coming loose and I have to tighten them multiple times a class. The heel tap actually came off while I was practicing. I had to wood glue the screws in place just to make them stay. Not sure if anyone else had these problems but I wouldn't buy these shoes again.

Nice looking shoe and love the wide widths

Loved the shoes and the fact they come in wide. Sizing is just so tricky. I wear a 10W in street shoes. I ordered 10 1/2 wide and my toes touched the end. I ended up trying them on locally and purchasing a size 11 1/2, which I never wear. However, I do own a Capezio dance gym shoes and had to get that in a size 11 1/2 also. The leather is good quality, and so is the shoe. If you wear orthotics, it's best to try them on with the inserts. I haven't used my other pair yet, so can't comment on how they hold up. I got these to teach choreography for a show.

Tap your heart out with these shoes!

These tap shoes sound great and are very comfortable - the soft leather, especially around the top rim meant they felt "worn in" from the beginning with no cuts to your feet like new shoes usually might. They look really good and I've had them for over 7 months with no troubles at all. They fit true to your usual shoe size (if varies/in doubt go with larger) and come with a soft Capezio shoe carrier bag to keep them in. It's worth getting the full leather sole for the sound as I learned from tap class. You won't want to take them off!

great shoe!

Everything about these tap shoes are amazing. I only gave it 4stars because the back left tap came loose constantly. I put super glue in it, and havent had a problem since. I would order this again!

Going with the Premiere is worth the money!

After looking at different styles of Capezio taps, I decided to go with these top of the line - and was not disappointed! My daughter who wears a size 2 childs fits the womens 4M perfectly. She says they are very "cozy" inside with the plush lining. They look great and sound great!
