Excellent product

As expected, Burley designed and built an exceptional bicycle product. The Travoy trailer is reviewed elsewhere and is a very unique and useful trailer. This hitch is needed if you expect to quickly use the Travoy trailer on multiple bicycles. This extra hitch is well built, tight fittings, and solid connection. The quick release functions well. It appears to be designed to last in heavy use. The only negative is the space constraint on the quick release. If there is very little seat post available, the quick release lever will be really close to the seat. This makes it difficult to use with gloves. A second related issue is the angle. Since not all seat posts are the exact same angle, the mounting pin angle won't be the same on every bicycle. Therefore the Travoy trailer sometimes needs to be lifted or maneuvered in order to pull the Travoy rubber receiver over the pin. I didn't ding the rating for the overall concept but there could be a better option. For those customers with many different bicycles, or wanting to loan it to a friend, it isn't ideal to have a mounting hitch on every bicycle. A better solution would be for the Travoy connector to be quick release so that it can be mounted quickly to any bicycle seat post. Essentially find a way to eliminate the need for a mounted hitch. (The Travoy is so cool!)

the hitch worked as expected, but i had a ...

the hitch worked as expected, but i had a hard time installing it on my brompton seat post. the screws that it came with it seemed a little curved. and i had to really put pressure to tighten it. the hitch that came with my travoy (the hitch im reviewing was an additional one from amazon) installed perfectly and effortlessly. for some reason the one purchased as a second was bit of a struggle. it could have been me that perhaps got the angle wrong or something. but once installed, the hitch worked without-a-hitch ;).

Beware

My bike got stolen with this clamp on it, thus I had to buy another one. This is a seriously cool clamp that goes with a seriously cool trailer fora non rear-suspension bike but beware of the spring. If you lose it, you have to buy the entire clamp for $35 when the spring itself is only pennies. This happened to someone I know. So, when you get this in the mail, take this thing apart and go to a good hardware store and buy a couple replacement springs for pennies, seriously pennies. And then tighten those allen heads back up. Also, the pivot will rust if not kept oiled

TOO EXPENSIVE :( . . . APPEARS TO BE IDENTICAL, IN ALL RESPECTS, TO THE STOCK (ISSUE) PART. GOT IT FOR MY SECOND BIKE (MY MTB TRACTOR). MINUS ONE STAR FOR OVER-CHARGING, ON PARTS AND ACCESSORIES. THE TRAVOY TRAILER IS A UNIQUE CONFIG AND I AM RELUCTANTLY WILLING TO PAY AN EXHORBITANT PREMIUM BUT I'LL BE DARNED IF I DON'T GO TO ANY OTHER COMPANY, FOR A KIDDIE-RIG OR A FLAT-BED, AFTER GETTING "GOUGED". JMO

Low quality

I have had my Burley trailer for years, and just recently had to buy a replacement for the hitch that came with it. I bought the replacement hitch in 2020 (according to Amazon) and now, 2 years later, I'm having to buy another one because the first replacement hitch has become unusable. First, a few months after I installed my new hitch, the spring driving the retention lever (top thumb lever that holds the trailer onto the silver post) either broke or fell out. As a result I had to start moving the level both ways by hand, although there was enough springiness that it would at least stay where I put it. Next, just this past month, the silver pivot post completely disappeared while I was riding with no trailer. I don't know how that post is secured to the hitch body. But apparently the correct description is "not very well" because rolling on paved roads for the last 2 years should not have been enough to loosen it. I'm stuck having to buy yet another replacement hitch. I really do love my trailer - it's great for grocery shopping. So I'm going to give this another shot and hope I luck into a long lasting version. But if you're thinking about buying one of these, be on the lookout for quality problems, and don't be afraid to exercise whatever warranty/return options you have, as soon as a problem shows up. Clearly Burley has "value engineered" their products a little too far.

I liked how it was easy to put on and made of metal. After riding for 10 minutes or so pulling a trailer not only everytime I would slow down it would spin on the pole and hit my tire, the metal screw also bent towards the back of the bike so the trailer hitch popped off.

Solid build.

I used this hitch for a custom application. I had an old come along that didn't have one and so I bought this as it was the closest to what I needed. It fit like a glove (with some minor adjusting on my end of the come along) I used a bolt and some washers with a locking nut to hold it all together and bam. My own custom rebuilt come along is now a classic piece. Kids love it too and it grabs the eyes of most people who get the pun when they read the bike. Great quality hitch and its held up great to what I needed it for.

Einfache und schnelle Befestigung des Anhängerhakens

Mir gefällt besonders die schnelle und einfache Befestigung des Anhängerhakens an der Sattelstütze meines Faltrades. Er macht einen stabilen und wertigen Eindruck. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

Gancio per carrello Travoy

Possiedo un Burley Travoy comprato all'estero qualche tempo fa Lo uso per fare la spesa, prendere l'acqua alla fontana.... Avevo bisogno di un altro gancio per una seconda bicicletta di famiglia e finalmente l'ho trovato su AMAZON ad un prezzo umano Il Travoy grazie a questo gancio si attacca/stacca dalla bici in qualche secondo PS Anche il carrellino è attualmente ad un prezzo concorrenziale

Ottimo, funzionalità perfetta. Personalmente ho sostituito le due brugole (unico punto debole) con altre due in acciaio inox, sono molto più resistenti.
