Runs like a new mower again !! (16 years old )
I bought this carburetor to replace the original carb in my 16 year old mower that started running rough. There are less expensive aftermarket ones out there, but I decided to pay a few dollars more and buy a genuine Briggs and Stratton made in USA carburetor. I am glad I did ! The mower started on the first pull after priming and ran great. I saved myself a lot of headaches and hassles of buying something cheaper that probably wouldn't fit or run properly.

Bolens by MTD surging issue FIXED!
I bought a Bolens mower from Lowe's years ago and found that it started surging like mad... after light use. I parked it, moved on, and bought another mower. We bought a new house with a much larger yard and I thought that my sons could use two at a time and make short work of it. So, looked up the engine code, bought this carb with the spring and air filter and installed it. It took about 10-15 mins. Checked the oil, filled with fresh gas and pumped the primer bulb with 3 pushes. STARTED ON THE FIRST PULL and cut a huge part of the yard without a hiccup. NO SURGING! If this is the part number you looked for, just get it. I looked at others that *seemed* proper, came with a new gas tank, spark plug, etc. They *aren't* the correct ones. THIS IS.

Better than original
The replacement carb has a main jet with a metal insert for the jet orifice. The original carb main jet was all plastic. Over time the ethanol gasoline in CA caused the jet orifice in the original carb to become larger so that the mower ran rich. After a while the mower also started surging. Replacing the tank to carb gaskets fixed the surging but the mower still ran rich. I replaced the carb and now the mower runs perfectly. I assume the ethanol will not affect the new main jet because of the metal orifice.

Carb was a key-component!
This little guy does the major work on keeping the engine running. It went on easily after mounting it on top of the gas tank, and everything fit in place. Bottom line......about 4 pushes on the gas bulb, and it was drawing gas from the tank and shooting a squirt of gas into the opening of the carburetor, and the engine started on the 2nd or 3rd pull. Now after using it a few times, it starts on the first or second pull, all the time. The carb and associated parts made the lawnmower engine run almost like new. The prices for all components was reasonable. delivery was outstanding, and it went together really good. Thanks for Amazon for having all the parts needed, and even a few options. I'm buying again in the future!!

Fixed my surging mower, bonus: MADE IN USA!!!
This was the right fix for my surging mower and inefficient combustion leaving lots of carbon on the spark plug. My mower would rev up and down wildly even after a new spring on the butterfly valve on the carb. The lawnmower is quite old, probably from the 1990s so it's long overdue. Some may blame ethanol fuels, but really it's just an old part, carbs have gummed up for decades and decades since they've been a part of fuel delivery systems. If you're having issues with starting or idle speed after maintaining your spark plug and air filter, chances are you should look into your carb. For the price it's worth buying new versus dealing with carb clean and dismantling the carb.

Fit like a glove; works like a charm
I have a Craftsman self-propelled push mower with a 4.75hp Briggs & Stratton engine (model #917.379370) on it that was running extremely rought, having trouble starting, running under-powered, and blackening spark plugs. I bought this part, a new governor spring, and a new plug and the mower now runs beautifully. This part came in Briggs & Stratton packaging with the carburetor, all gaskets, spring and filter. It was a perfect fit and very easy to change -- all you will need is a flat head screwdriver, phillips head screwdriver, and 2 sockets. It look me about 10 minutes. The part does not come with instructions, but lookup your mower on YouTube and you will find what you need

A really good genuine part.
These carbs seem to have a limited life, and I knew it needed replacing. The engine "hunting" seems to be the clue. I'm very non-technical, but I watched a couple of YouTube videos and it seemed quite straightforward. It was pleasingly easy to fit. Just be aware that Briggs and Stratton is an American company, so you need imperial sockets to remove the fuel tank. I'll happily buy and fit another one when it's needed.

My mower had become impossible to start
My mower had become very, very difficult to start towards end of last growing season so i tried different cleaners ( which had worked before ) but even with a new spark plug it was still very hard work to start, once I could get it running it would carry on just fine. Looked at carb refurb kits and then found this complete carb for a very reasonable price - took about 40 minutes to fit and it cured the problem completely, starts first or second pull now just like when new - I am one happy bunny.
