Did the trick
Had gasoline odors in my garage coming from my rider mower fuel tank and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. I figured that a vent line was purging or open to atmosphere so I put this petcock in the gas line between the fuel tank & before it reaches the engine. It solved the problem. I just have to open when I operate the rider mower and then close it afterwards.

Useful in many ways.
They are easy to install, and work well. When I do carburetor repair on my gas powered tools or a friends I always install one of these shut off valves. It makes the job go so much faster and dryer. Also, if the float in the carburetor bowl sticks open the gas tank don't empty into the oil pan.

Ignore the review that rated this item 3/5 stars because he thinks it's not rated for fuel
The fuel pump logo with the "slash mark" through it means that the fuel valve is in the OFF position. It does not mean that the shut-off valve is not rated for fuel. This is a nice made in the US valve, not a cheap knockoff.

Highly disappointing as this thing is trash. It literally is useless, maybe just got a bad one but IDC. I bought this thing to add a in-line fuel shut off valve so that I could run the gas dry out of the carburetor on my power for storage between usages. Power washer has a B&S motor so I thought yeah keep it name brand... Naaaaah, that wasn't a good call I guess. This thing open or closed I couldn't see through the valve as if it like never opened. Skeptical I still installed it, needless to say in the open position it worked better but the motor still didn't run great, and in the off position it never shut the motor down and only bogged it down. Decided I need a better version. Got back onto inter-webs and found a full metal version that works exactly as needed. Shut the motor down quickly and ran good when open. its metal and wont break. Not Rocket Surgery
Very straightforward. Cut fuel line, install shut off valve with supplied clamps and you're good to go. I don't like ethanol gas sitting in delicate carburetor parts so I shut the gas off and let the motor run until it starves. Works perfectly.

Did the job, simple install
I assumed that because these were actual Briggs and Stratton packaging they would be suitable to use as a "Gasoline Shut Off" between the tank and carb, WRONG. Right on the red handle is the same pictorial as the the "cheap ones" of the fuel pump with a "slash mark" through it indicating that these should not be used to shut off fuel. Installed on Toro High Pressure Sprayer, 2 Honda EU2000 Genertors and 1 Honda EU6500 generator. So far no leaks!!
