Wonder mats!!
I have purchased these coir mats again so each tree in my yard has one. We're on the drought-stricken West Coast, and these rings have saved my many organically grown trees, just planted this year, by helping to conserve what water we're allowed to use on our poor plants. In addition, when it says the water and/or nutrients (fertilizer) can go right through this coconut based material, it's true! Just sprinkle on whatever soil additive or fertilizer, and water. In it goes. But the weeds DO NOT come up through it. Best purchase I've ever made on Amazon, and I buy a lot on Amazon! These mats fit my 24" tree rings snugly and perfectly. I made sure that all weeds were pulled out, placed these one by one in all my citrus, avocado, and apple trees, and now my trees are healthier and growing great. It looks like just dirt is down there because of the color of the mats, but before I put these mats in my tree rings, they were horribly overgrown with weeds of all kinds. Now it is WEED FREE without effort, and the trees are doing much better. I also had a destructive dog problem with my adored little digging dogs (terriers: the worst diggers!) and they would almost dig my new trees up, but they can't dig through these tough mats. I used the long garden "staples" to hold the mats down in place, and now no worries with my pets. This would probably work with cat problems, too. If my dogs can't dig through them, a cat never could! Very tough mats!! (But porous, too, unlike the rubber ones.) A wonderful solution to my many problems. They are great!!!!!!! I will order more before next spring when I will be putting in my Donut peaches and some apricot trees and maybe pears. Even with the drought and conserving water, they'll survive. Try these! Highly recommended!!

Hold up well
Since I have had one order lost in shipping and two canceled due to being out of stock, I’ve had the same two mats for several months. They’re showing wear, but still intact.

Works, but a bit expensive
Yes, they are very lightweight. However, this actually turns out not to be a problem. As long as the weeds/grass underneath is removed or at least controlled before the product is placed the mat works well. I also like that watering the tree/bush becomes easier - the mat is very absorbent, so helps to contain the water to allow it to soak into the ground during a particularly dry spell. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is value-for-money. As much as I like them, and even though there does not seem to be anything comparable on the market, the price is high for what you get.

Looks ok, too light
I have only ever tried real mulch and rubber mulch before, but they both share the same characteristic - they stay put wherever you put them. This item is so lightweight, it doesn't even squish down the grass under it when you put it down. I bought these to put around the little lilacs that I planted last year. Two are about a foot and a half, so when I put this around them, it made them more visible to my husband while on the mower. It did not do a thing for its actual purpose, since it would not stay on the ground. The 3rd lilac got mowed over in the fall, however it came back. It is only a couple inches tall now. The ring got blown off it with the first breeze since there wasn't enough plant there to keep it in place. I bought two sets since my kids brought home sweet birches in styrofoam cups from school as part of earth day celebrations. They are itty bitty, so I thought an 18 inch ring would make them less likely to fall prey to the mower. However, unless I want to weigh them down with bricks around the trees, it has become very apparent that they will not stay in place. I could also go out and buy a bag of mulch and dump it on top of every ring to hold it down, but that defeats the purpose of spending $6 per ring ($18 for the set). Waste of my money.

Protect From weeds in the tree basins
This product works as designed and does a good job of keeping weeds and grass from growing in the tree basins. The customer service was also excellent with this company. Some of the material never made it in the shipment and they quickly sent me more. Its hard to find good customer service these days and it was mu appreciated with how much this company cares.

Liking the smaller size and price.
Like that these come in 18" rather than the more commonly seen 24" size. I have very, very young bushes planted and these work well for keeping the grass and weeds from creeping up around them and for making them more visible so they don't accidentally get eaten by the lawn mower. Shipped with the three together in a plastic bag. My shipment came in good time packed in a very long and narrow box that looked like a lawn mower had ridden over it. No really. It was smashed, bent, torn open in spots, and it had what might have been track marks, that looked like wheel marks smeared across it. The mats were luckily still in there and were just fine. A good price for three compared to purchasing individually.

Keeping weeds out
Placed them around young fruit trees. They feel very thin and wasn't sure if they would keep weeds from penetrating but so far so good. One of trees, under this mat, doubled it with fabric weed-barrier and placed rubber-mulch on top with block-cement edging. When deep-watering the tree, it takes a lot water without water over flowing. Like them so far. Wait and see how long it will last.

Good Value
I purchased and reordered these BOSMERE Tree Protection Weed Mats, 18", 3-Pack for SHRUBS. Perfect when Installed as directed. The Recycled Rubber ones are more costly but better long-term protection for Trees.

OK... but a bit flimsy and light
It is ok but not sure how well it will keep the weeds / grass out. I will have to dig all the current grass out in order to lay it on top of the dirt. I don't think it will work as I had planned just laying it over top of the grass. I will also need to put a couple rocks over it for a while to see if it sets in the ground.

Thinner than I thought it would be - not thick like some larger ones I have
Centre circle is not quite large enough for my small hydrangeas just planted this year. Better for 1 stemmed smaller plants, or baby sappling tree.

Good but a little pricey
These are great. My trees and shrubs are happier and healthier, and I need less water. They are unobtrusive and sturdy. The only reason for 4 stars is that they are a little expensive for what they are.

Invest in rubber...these suck.
a bit too small and they roll up when they get wet. Edit one year later: Disintegrated over winter, so they only lasted us one summer. Not impressed.
