Worth every penny!!

After many reviews and watching tons of video reviews on the Bose 251 Wall Mount Outdoor Environmental Speakers, I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase them for my wife's Christmas present (back in 2020). It's January 2023 and I am writing this review because I wanted to give them a couple of season's use before I offered my two cents. I wound up getting them in White and actually had my electrician install them and run the speaker wire. Let me give you my honest assessment. The sound today is as crystal clear as it was when the were installed. We put them on our deck to provide music to our in ground pool area and it exceeded expectations. The music reaches our entire backyard, driveway and side yard area. The sound is like I am at a concert, but even better. These were the exactly what I hoped for and even better. We have had no issues, and the white still looks brand new. I would highly recommend these if you are on the fence. We hooked the speakers to the Bose SoundTouch SA-5 Amplifier, which allows us to use our smart phones to play music - so simple. I often don't rave about a product, but this one deserves it.

Great sound, but pricey

I used these speakers to replace a 20 year old pair of Boston Acoustics speakers. The sound quality of the Bose speakers is almost as good as the Bostons, which is to say great. However, I also decided to try some HTD outdoor speakers which were less than half the price on my second deck. The Bose speakers are great and you won't be disappointed, but outdoors, especially in a noisy pool side environment the HTD speakers performed really well and the difference is hardly noticable. That being said, it's hard to justify the additional cost of the Bose speakers.

Great mids and highs

As with most Bose speakers the high and mid range are great, with very nice separation. These speakers lack for bass, but make up for it everywhere else. They replaced a set of Niles outdoor speakers that had good bass, but everything else was just muddy sounding. A small sub with these Bose speakers is the ticket for quality outdoor sound.

Better than expected...

I'm not one to write reviews, so I hope this helps you make your decision. My new Bose 251 speakers are mounted outside, under the cover of my patio. I have them spaced roughly 20' apart, and they're mounted at about 8' high. First, let me say I love them. I'm happier than I thought I'd be. I've been reading reviews on several different speakers, hearing how disappointed people are with lack of bass or a flat sound or whatever they needed to complain about. No complaints here. None at all. The mounting was very easy. 4 screws on each bracket, and the speakers just slide down in place. The speaker angle is adjustable by loosening the 2 knobs on the sides of the speaker. Super easy. The speaker wires can either be connected with banana plugs or just bare wire tightened to the connector nuts. I went with bare wire. Again, super easy. I went in the house to turn on the receiver, and was a little unsure what I would here when I walked outside to my patio. Well, I could hear them inside very clearly. The bass was more powerful than I had expected, and the highs were clean and crisp. The sound outside filled the entire patio area, and carried out clearly across my backyard. WOW!!! I am very pleased. I mounted these less than an hour ago, and here I am writing a review. That's how much I like these Bose 251 speakers. Yes, I strongly recommend them. Enjoy!

Perfect Sound Indoor or Outside

Bought these outdoor speakers after hearing them at a friends house. My friend is driving them with the associated Bose amp and I am driving them with a Denon AVR4500. Both amps run these speakers equally well. These Bose speakers are the only outdoor speakers that have dual tweeters and a woofer which makes them sound better than the other speakers I compared them to. Using the Denon AVR4500 I compared these speakers to the huge Klipsch AW-650 outdoor speakers, Klipsch 15M bookshelf speakers, and Kef Q150 bookshelf speakers. The gigantic Klipsch AW-650 outdoor speakers were very disappointing and came in last place (returned quick!). The Bose 251 speakers sounded much better than the Klipsch AW650 and Klipsch R-15. Obviously the Kef Q150s were the best overall but the bose 251 were only slightly in second place (and I have historically not been a Bose fan so I was very impressed with how well they did). My wife and I performed blind listening tests on all the speakers to see which we liked the best. All speakers were driven by the Denon AVR-4500 in our living room, same speaker wires, and banana plugs with the subwoofer turned off. Speaking of, the Bose 251 sound fine inside and outside without an additional subwoofer.

Need a little more Bass

Overall these are very good speakers, however, coming from Bose (and the price tag), I expected a little more bass than they give. I'm guessing I'll have to add a subwoofer to get that sound. Very easy to wall mount and hook up. They do fill the backyard with sound.

Great quality.

They work great on our back porch. They sound and look great. Expensive but well worth it.

Bose Quality and not so Bose price

These speakers are an excellent value. Superb quality at a superb price. Do yourself a favor, if you are looking for good outdoor speakers. I paired them with a Fosi BT20A 200 watt Bluetooth amplifier for my pool deck. Fantastic!

NO SON BLUETOOTH!!!!!

Si estás pensando en comprarte estos altavoces porque hayas visto cosas como: inalámbricos, Bluetooth, WiFi o algo así, (que es por lo que me los he comprado yo) vete olvidando porque todo es FALSO. Todo lo que tienes que saber es que son altavoces para conectarlos a un amplificador (como toda la vida) para que funcionen. No tienen ningún otro tipo de opción para que suenen. Adjunto foto de la parte trasera.

They are Bose so clarity is a given.

Well they are Bose so never disappointed!! Fixing and mount adjustment was easy. Bass response is better than expected for an outdoor environment but wasn’t overpowering. Definitely better than the 151 model for bass response but as always very clear sound.

Not weatherproof!

Bought these 1 year ago and having just tried them of first day of sunshine sound has turned fuzzy. Tested cabling, amp and speakers separately so definitely speakers. Installed in the proscribed way but now sound is unlistenable. Never mind I thought, they have a 5 year warranty but when I went I Bose website and entered serial number I was told the product was out of warranty but I could pay £79 to have them fixed! Plan to call Bose tomorrow but can only imagine they’ve been sitting in amazon warehouse for 4 years +...terrible

Bose 251 & Onkyo TX8220 & Subwoofer Polk Audio

Excelente calidad de audio para mi terraza de unos 70 mets. cuadrados. He comprado 2 pares: Blanco para el muro y Negro para las que van en la Pérgola (muy elegantes). El amplificador de Onkyo TX8220 va perfecto. También adquirí Subwoofer Polk Audio en combinación con Bose 251 otorga una excelente atmósfera de audio. Recomiendo cable 14 (Amazon basics) y clavija tipo banana (Amazon basics). ¡Gracias Amazon!

Sea air and speakers

Had these speakers for about five years sound is terrific but if you are near the sea and salt air then the plastic caps at the back and the cable connectors rot and crumble. Best answer and too late for at least one of my speakers was to cover the connections with Vaseline and reapply occasionally. That said I have bought them again as sound quality excellent!
