Height adjustment mechanism needs this easy 'fix'

Soon after the first use, the height adjustment mechanism failed to operate. I removed the lift from the table and realized that the flimsy 'open split washer' on the shaft that turns from the top of the table, had slipped out of its groove, There was no way that it would hold there, so I purchased a 1/4" collar and nylon washer and installed as shown in the photograph. I filed a flat spot on the shaft so the set screw in the collar would make good contact. It's all back together now, under the. router table, and works perfectly. It seems like Bosch should have realized this problem, and manufactured a more reliable 'stop' than the open split washer. But the fix only cost $3.00 and change, and I think it will be permanent.

Great add-on for your Bosch router

Quality substitute for expensive router table lifts. I mounted this to my table and exchange motor body when needed.

Failed after 8 months of light use

Like others have experienced, the clip is the weak link in this setup. Flimsy and once the clip gives way, the lift is useless. Since I still have warranty, I'll try to contact customer service and see how they respond. Right now, I'd look for something better made. The Bosch router I also purchased is still running well so no worries there.....yet. edit: Bosch customer service sent me a replacement so I'm back up and running. While it's disappointing that the unit failed as early as it did, Bosch has demonstrated top notch customer service in resolving this problem for me. I'll continue to buy their tools and hope this replacement holds up better than the first one. Thank you Bosch!

E-Ring Clip is still a massive problem

Even after multiple product revisions the E-Ring clip is still a massive weak spot which breaks easily and makes the base useless. Mine lasted a whole 2 days before popping on my new base. Luckily its fairly easy to replace - it's a 3/16" E-Ring clip you can get readily. Standard duty hardware store ones work OK but don't last long, I've had much better luck with 15/7 PH Stainless E-Rings from McMaster - they last a lot longer and are just more robust. Its fine if its intended to be a consumable part, but they really need to add a handful to the bag if that's the case.

BOSCH RA1165 Under-Table Router Base Not Needed with Router Purchase

When I purchased the Bosch 1617 Router the under table mount was the same as the one that came with the router. If I had known that they were both the same item not including the handles or knobs, I would have never ordered this as a separate item. I really don't know the details because I never opened the box. If you purchase the router you do not need this because the router comes with this exact item. Only difference is the knobs or handles and the plastic base. If you use this as your under table attachment you take off the plastic plate and handles, though the handles should not be in the way of the operation of the router.

Router Table Necessity

I installed this router base under my router table. It is so much easier to not have to unscrew and remove the whole router & base when I switch to hand-held operation. Twenty-minute job turns into two minute job.

Works alright

Fits perfectly with the router. However the holes for the “universal” plate and the hole for the height adjustment didn’t actually line up with the Husky router table I had. Had to make a template and drill some new holes.

It's A Bosch Router Lift. Works Great With A 1617 Bosch Router, That's All I Know

It makes changing bits really easy from up top. The height adjustment rod is dead center of the face of the aluminium router plate, making height adjustments precise & very easy to set. The cabinet has good usable space with the lift in place & for storage space to use up with bits & parts, just remember to use the vacuum when routing or else that space can fill up quicker than you think. It works great & setting 1/16" cuts are a breeze. With a router lift in place, forgetting to clean the router every now & again can become costly, or worse, catch fire. So remember to use some compressed air to clean the dust after a day of hard use. Your insurance agent will Thank You for it,,,if only they knew....

Makes Changing Bits A Breeze

This is worth the extra cost of having the table permanently equiped with a quick-release router base for the router. It makes changing router bits a trivial event. Since the router fine adjustment is so easily accessible with my table (the Bosch RA1181), I don't even bother with the above table access key, but I suppose for some tables it would be an added convenience. I'm extremely happy with the quality of the mechanism.

Adjustments are so much easier

I love this! Was always a pain adjusting my router when mounted to my table saw with router mount. Always fiddling in an awkward area taking way too much time for adjustments. Being able to adjust it from above has made it a breeze to adjust depth.

Perfecto para mi mesa dectouter

Queda perfecto para mi mesa de router y no tengo que estar desartonillando y atornillando el plato del rotúreme cada que lo quiero usar sin mesa. Un poco caro. Pero me funciona a la perfeccion
