Excellent mid-size tool bag

I recently acquired the DeWalt backpack, 16" tool bag, and 18" rolling tool bag. My hope was that all 3 would fit together on the extended handle of the rolling bag, and they do. It may be a little awkwardly tall and could be top-heavy if the backpack was heavily loaded, but there is room for all 3 and the handle is still accessible. The 16" bag is not flat on top when closed, so the backpack doesn't sit on it perfectly, but both have straps to hold them to the handle, so they can't go anywhere. I don't have plans to use all 3 together, but it's good to see that they can work. All 3 bags are top notch indestructible quality. Excellent tough material, hard plastic bottoms, sturdy construction all around and well thought out versatility. The backpack has pockets and zippers all over the place - Don't lose track of where you put things! All these bags have side pockets and a water resistant compartment in the front. The 16" bag is a standard medium size, similar in size to many of the toolbags I've seen, good for small jobs that don't require too many tools, with the added DeWalt bells and whistles. The 18" bag is really pretty massive, the pictures don't do it justice for just how big it is. I thought the backpack might be a little uncomfortable, but I wore it around for a bit and I was quite impressed with it. The solid design and hard bottom make its shape stay pretty consistent so it really should sit about the same on your shoulders/back whether it's empty or loaded up, not slouching and stretching into awkwardness like a regular backpack. The straps and back panel are very thickly padded, so it should be pretty comfortable for extended wear - if you're not just pulling it around on top of the 18" rolling bag! I love to point out flaws in big name products, especially ones with big name prices, but I really can't find anything NOT to like about all 3 of these bags. The closest I can get to a complaint is pointing out that there are SO many pockets and zippers and compartments, it's going to be just about impossible not to totally misplace things in these bags. Keep things simple and most of all consistent, and you can save yourself a lot of time hunting down some tool you haven't seen in a while, unsure if you left it behind somewhere or just stuck it in the wrong pocket of your bag! Totally recommended. I will update if I find any flaws, but I'm pretty confident in these bags and anxious to start loading them up!

MUCH better than Dewalt's regular bags, quite expensive

This bag is in a different league compared to the regular Dewalt canvas bags. I've got tons of the regular canvas bags they ship with their tools and sets, and they're fine. This new bag, though, is completely different. It has a lot of nice webbing for organization, and the materials feel way more durable. The bottom of the bag has a rigid plastic liner to keep the shape and help protect the contents. The shoulder strap is surprisingly comfortable. The zippers all feel bomber, and the IP54 pocket is quite nice. It looks and feels like the type of pockets/zippers you get on nice GoreTex jackets and bags -- it reminds of my Arcteryx stuff, but not quite as smooth operating. Do note that this IP54 pocket isn't huge. It's definitely designed with a phone in mind, but I think you could probably fit an iPad mini in there. Full size iPad almost certainly won't fit. One thing I found a bit strange/funny -- the advertising booklet makes a point of saying how "dirt repellant" this bag is. First of all, this just isn't true -- moving this bag around my garage (not even taking to any job sites) I already have a few dirt stains. But perhaps more important, how many contractors actually care about how dirt repellant their bags are? I don't think I've ever met a single one. The bags are meant to be tossed around everywhere, keeping things organized and providing a bit of protection for the tools inside. Only reason I took off a star was the cost. This bag is really expensive at the current price ($75). Lots and lots of competition at and below this price point. You could easily get a cheaper bag and a nice waterproof sac for far less than this bag costs. The build quality of this Dewalt bag is very nice, but not necessarily miles above the competition. Up to you if the slightly better build quality vs. competition and the yellow color/branding is worth the price premium.
