requires a heavy duty rivet gun that can do 1/4 rivets.
Really nice product, and it works perfectly. Unfortunately, a rivet gun that does 1/4 rivets is hard to find around my neighborhood, so I had to get bolts instead. I used 1/4" x 3/4" zinc hex bolts and 3/4" washers. The install wasn't bad. The hardest part was getting the grill removed because my winch was kind of in the way. I had to go in from the inside and wedge a piece of wood between the plastic and a metal bracket that ran along the bottom. Everything popped out easily after that. Actual install of the lock was super easy, and I expect it would have been much easier if I had the rivet gun. If you're going the bolt route, the easiest way to get them started is to place the nut behind the hole and then screw the bolt into it, and not the other way around. Tightening them though is....interesting. You can't really get back there with the proper tools so I just used plyers and then used a flat head screwdriver and leveraged it between the bolt and an interior ledge so the nut wouldn't move as I tightened down the bolt. It worked. I guess you could always throw a lock washer back there and, if I had thought of it, I would have used blue loc-tight. I'll just have to check on it after a while and make sure nothing is coming loose. I have since purchased a rivet gun on amazon that will handle the 1/4 rivets so I may just go back and change it out. Either way, even with my rigged up install, the process was easy and didn't take much time at all. Maybe 30min, not counting having to go to the hardware store and buy the bolts

Exceptional Aftermarket Product
I normally don't review. But this product deserves props. I installed this hood lock on my JL Wrangler. The lock is well constructed and fits like an OEM part. The instant adaptation to your existing door key is a big plus. What impressed me the most was the included grill piece (so no cutting on my old JL grill) and the new plastic trim plugs. The included rivets may be a problem for some that don't have a heavy duty rivet setting tool. But the comment by some people did warn about this. My installed lock looks like a factory install and works well.

Keeps unwanted people out of the engine bay
Having had issues with people messing with my vehicles in the past, this was something that got my interest after I bought my first Jeep. And since I have the front of the jeep taken apart to add some fluid coolers, I decided I better pick this up before I commit to the fluid cooler install location. The good parts, Overall design of this thing feels very sturdy, like overbuilt sturdy. The holes lined up pretty much perfect on my 07 JKU, and I'm good with the rivet setting tool already. These rivets are large, very large. The lock itself set very easily with Jeep key, just insert and turn as the instructions state. That's a big plus so I don't need to keep track of a separate key. The Not great part... The lock itself = "meh". Some oddities with the way the lock core felt lead me to further investigate. It's neat that it can learn your key without any special tools or equipment, but part of that design also made it super simple to bypass. Next be aware that you will need a good rivet setting tool in order to install this. You might be able to use some good quality bolts and thread the holes, but it would be better to use the supplied rivets. IMO. If you don't feel like you can do this, I'm sure a body shop could do it for you. Overall, I love it but being a lock nerd, I'm going to install a better lock before I fully rivet it in.

Simply Amazing Product
I honestly don’t know why Jeep doesn’t just install this lock straight out of the factory! SUPER easy install. SUPER solid. SUPER secure. Quite simply, a great product.

Easy to install
This is a fairly well built product. Installation was easy. My handy man jack has ridden in the on the side of my Wrangler JK for a couple of months now in some rough off-roading and the jack and mount haven’t budged. My only complaint is the price. It works, but it’s overpriced for what you get.

Fits as described
Add a small felt or rubber stopper to the jack when mounting to the drivers side to prevent damage to paint on thr lower hinge of the door.

I purchased this for my daughters 1015 Jeep wangler unlimited. The install took about half an hour and the key programming was extremely easy.

Cool looking and easy to access hi lift jack mount
I bought the BOLT jack mount because i really like the ease of access, on/off, and locking feature. My aftermarket bumper was not conducive for a jack mount. The instructions are not that good. Watching a couple of you tube videos helps. The most difficulty was the getting the ring clip onto the pin. It is not so easy. Like others have said, the mounting bolts should be a stronger grade too. Otherwise my old hi lift jack fits really good. Make sure the holes are lined up for hold down knobs. In my third picture, there is "just enough" clearance from the door to the jack. And no issues of loss of visibility from the driver's view. The one issue i had (not with the product) is the delivery to me. It took 3 orders (and 4 weeks) from Amazon to get it to me. The other 2 times, my parcel was "lost", when actually it was stuck in a nearby warehouse for 5-7 days each time and never processed. So orders were refunded but it was a hassle to get it here.

Awesome product
Excellent lock for your Wrangler hood. I did not want another set of keys and install after market made in China side hood latches on my Wrangler. I was a little concerned but the product is well made, extremely sturdy, excellent fit and finish. Not really hard to do if you follow the printed directions and follow up with the youtube installation video, maybe and hour or so. It is not all that easy or cheap to find a 1/4 inch rivet gun and when I did it did not work properly so I used flat head stainless steel screws and bolts and it worked just fine. This product is made in America. You do have to change part of your grill which is really no big deal. If you have an after market or angry grill this lock with not work unless you modify the grill yourself.

Best Wrangler Hood Lock!
Bought this after a friend’s Wrangler was almost stolen. The potential thieves pulled fuses under the hood to disable the alarm sound (after covering the lights). The latch is very solid, and it’s really convenient to have the lock keyed to the original Wrangler key. It was relatively easy to install (took about 30 minutes), especially after checking out some videos online. No one’s getting under this hood! Exceeds expectations. Highly recommended!!

Need a ¼ inch rivet gun
They don’t tell you that you need a ¼ inch rivet gun so I had to run to the hardware store to pick up in order to install which wasn’t cheap. That’s why I’m only giving 3 stars to install. But once I got the needed tools, was easy to install. I like that the lock is coded to the vehicle key and seems really strong. Happy with the product
