The on / off switch needs to be manually shut off
I think the product works just fine but I've only used it twice. In the video attached to the AMAZON site a gentleman describes how the milk frother shuts off after the milk reaches a certain temperature. While this is true that the device stops heating the milk and the whisk stops spinning, the on / off switch must still be turned off as it does on my nespresso machine milk frother. I made the mistake of leaving my apartment to run errands and when I came home I heard a humming noise. It was the milk frother which had started spinning the whisk and heating what moisture was left in the frother after cleaning. The bottom of the frother was scorched requiring extensive scrubbing. Frightening that in all of the product directions does it not say to turn the on / off button to the off position even though it stops heating when milk has heated.

Excellent budget frother!
I bought this after seeing a barista on YouTube review it positively. My espresso machine has a frother wand but I just can't get the hang of using it and I hate the cleanup. This frother is very easy to use: you just fill it to the appropriate line in the frother cup and put the lid on and turn it on! It automatically stops after a minute, I believe. I've put whole milk as well as liquid creamer and both come out well. It heats up the milk/creamer to the perfect temperature. The cleanup is a cinch: just rinse out with warm water. The milk/creamer gets really frothy which is how I like it. I highly recommend this electric frother!

Love it!
I really wanted a milk frother and this one was recommended by a friend. They told me to not forget about it because if you use it, pour it out, and place it back on the stand and forget to turn it off you'll hear it buzzing empty later! OOPS! Wish it had an automatic turn off, but it's really human error I forget to turn it off. Otherwise it is literally perfect. I use it almost every day!

Mixed Feelings About This Product
I love having steamed/frothed oat milk! This is the first device I've owned (besides hand-pumped ones, which require too much effort). I'll reiterate what many reviews have already said: Pros: -Whips up a hot frothy oat milk pretty fast! Not super hot, but that's fine with me. (I suspect with non-dairy milks, you need a higher fat percentage than zero to get froth.) -Quiet -Easy to operate and clean Cons: -Will not do two consecutive batches. It has to cool off completely to do a full cycle. You can put in a second batch after it cools for a bit, but it will not run the full cycle, so you will not get the same result. -It does shut off automatically, but you MUST remember to switch it off!! Or it'll just start back up on it's own when it cools down. And will keep doing that until it burns out, apparently. This is VERY BAD for folks with distracted lives. -Very poor pouring design. Liquid drips down the side if you don't empty it in one go. In conclusion, this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for." Since this was our first foray into this particular luxury, we decided to go on the cheap, and that's fine for now. When we upgrade, we'll definitely look for better features!

Exactly What I Needed
The frother on our DeLonghi stopped working properly and I needed an electric frother that would quicky heat up the milk. This is exactly what I wanted. Excellent price, milk is well heated, and if you are a fan of cappuccinos you'll love how much froth is created with a small amount of whole milk. I do agree with other reviews, though, that if you are not used to unplugging your electric devices right away, this may not be a device for you. The moment the milk is heated through, the frother turns off the light on the power switch, so unless you turn the device off right away, you may forget it's on, and that's a fire hazard. As for it's function, though, it's a great frother, that's why I gave it five stars.

I read the directions!
I had an old Nepresso coffee maker with the frother on the side. The machine finally died so out it went along with the frother. I ordered this particular model because it was on sale and the brand is well known. When it arrived I read the directions. (Who does that?) The instructions said that the frother will heat the milk up to 70 C (158 F) then stop. It also said that when the temperature drops below 70C, it will turn itself on the bring the temperature back up. I used the frother the next morning forgetting about the directions. I poured more half and half into the frother than I needed. While I was reading the paper I heard a noise but didn’t pay much attention. The noise was the frother turning itself on and off to get the remaining milk up to 70C. It wasn’t until I found a film of burnt milk on the bottom of the frother and realized what happened. It had cooked the remaining milk until the was almost nothing left. My old frother wasn’t smart enough to do this. Now I know to turn the button off when done. The beauty of this is that you can froth enough milk for more than one cup and it will be hot for the second cup. Remember to turn it off when you are finished so the same thing won’t happen to you. My coffee had nice foamy half and half in it this morning.

Reliable, Quality Product
I originally received this as a gift back in 2018 after my Starbucks heater/frother shorted out. This Bodum gift unit gave good and faithful service and was NOT overly sensitive to being splashed during cleaning. It lasted until a month ago (about 5 years) until I unknowingly cleaned it and put it on its base with the power turned on but no frothing coil inserted. I burned the motor out, apparently. So I bought a new one. I notice a couple of improvements from the 2018 version although it looks the same. The lid now free-floats a little so if the foam reaches the lid, it won’t squeeze under the lid and make a mess like the old one did. The lid now floats a bit on the foam and stays contained. The frothing coil or whisk is now elevated a bit off the bottom of the frothing container, causing less abrasion on the finish than the old one. Good unit and good price. More reliable than the other brands I’ve owned.

Works well, with some minor inconveniences
I would say this device works really well to froth and heat up milk. However, the design is not ideal. First of all, the base doesn't sit flat because of the location of the power cord. I have to manually move the cord to thread through the tiny opening to make it level everytime I use it. Not sure if mine has a defective base, but it's annoying. Second, the container that holds the milk and frother is not removable from the entire unit. This means when you wash it, you wash the whole thing (minus the charging base). You have to be extra careful to not get the bottom wet, because that's where it gets charged. Third - it froths too much sometimes, even if you keep it below the max line. Mine was overflowing this morning and dripped down the sides, even though I stayed under the max level indicator. Fourth - there's no spout, so pouring the liquid out can be tricky and messy. That being said, these are minor inconveniences for a compact and efficient device that does what it's supposed to do.

Works Just as Well as the Pricey Nespresso Model
I have the Nespresso unit at home for which I paid roughly $100. I never use the cold froth option so the fact that the Bodum doesn't have that was of no concern at all. The Bodum unit was intended for my office at work as I couldn't justify spending another $100 to have the Nespresso one at work as well. This turned out to be the perfect decision as this one froths just as fast, as quietly and as effectively as the Nespresso. I would say that the Nespresso unit is heavier and feels a bit more solid, but they both render the same result at a big different in cost. I used to use half and half in my frother but every time I had to clean it, it bothered me to see how much fatty gunk half and half left behind that I had to scrub off. It made me wonder about the buildup on my insides! I've since gone non-dairy and have found some amazing barista blend oat milks that froth exactly like half and half and with the same richness but nothing fatty left behind. A quick rinse and I'm done! Zero cholesterol and it makes me feel a whole lot better about my daily lattes. I'm doing the same with the Bodum and getting great results. Thick, rich and velvety but without the guilt and health concerns. Keep in mind, we are what we repeatedly do! Cheers.

Great design, (probably) poor quality
We liked this frother very much as it automatically warms the milk and stops when the cream is ready. However, the whisk fell apart the 2nd day and we couldn't put it back. It's very difficult to place the two magnets correctly in their position as there are no markings on the parts. Even if you can do it, the whisker falls apart every time the machine is used. Also, it's not our job as customers to do that. We sent it back.

Good buy
I bought this frother to complement my Nespresso machine. It works very nicely; I use the froth mode to make cappuccinos and the heat mode to make matcha lattes. The only little negative is that when washing the inside of the canister, I always have to scrape this stubborn milk residue off. Also, if you're trying to froth milk for multiple people you do need to wait a few minutes for the unit to cool down before using it again. I'd definitely still buy this frother over the much more expensive alternatives, because the pros definitely out weight the cons.

Waste of money!!
I have been using Bodum french press coffee malers for many years and I have been very impressed with the quality of their product. Unfortunately this product is a huge disappointment. I returned one that stopped working after only one day of use and I figured it was probably a lemon so I asked for a replacement instead of opting for a reimbursement. The second one worked fine for 3 weeks and it started to produce less froth every day. It is 2 days past the return date and it wont froth anymore. I cant return it so I guess it will end up in the garbage. I am out 50$, I will think twice before buying another Bodum product. I do not recommend this product at all.
