Nice lights when they work.
I had a set of these from over 20 years ago that worked so nicely and gave off a bright softer white look. However over time, my original set broke down. I absolutely love the extension cord that comes with this set. The extension cord outlet receptacle hugs the umbrella pole nicely for the string of lights and room for 2 more electrical devices. However, I recently ordered a brand new set for a new umbrella, but 2 rib strings of lights were not working at all even after checking individual lights. I’ve ordered a replacement and hope it is in better shape.

Great Ambient Lighting for the Patio, here are a few tips...
Nice ambient lighting. Looks great! Would be nice if there were a few extra cable ties. One of the cable ties after I tightened and snipped off the end came loose and I had to replace it, and of course the cable tie I replaced it with was a different color (green) since that's all I had in my garage. Really not noticable as they are so small but if I had to replace a few then I think it would be noticable. Also would be nice if there was something to indicate which way the cable tie end should be inserted. I placed all of them into positon before clamping them down to make sure they were all spaced out correctly only to find out that more than half of them were inserted the wrong way and wouldn't snap tight and had to undo all of those, flip them over and then tighten. Call me cable tie challenged if you want but that cost me another 20 minutes of assembly time. Also no idication in the packaging as to whether the white extension connector box can be left out in the elements like the umbrella or should it be stored away and only taken out when being used. The connector box looks nice but looks like something that's more meant for indoors. Total time for installation was about 2 hours including me failing the cable tie 101 course, so 1 hr 20 mins.

Great-looking lights
I hear the complaints about white string, but it looks great with our white-ribbed umbrella! The light is bright but cheery - you can see your dinner, play cards, read, etc. They were easy to install, but the process is somewhat tedious. I would suggest you get a woman (or an engineer or artist of either sex) to do this because it requires the kind of attention to detail that many people of the male persuasion are not interested in dedicating to a project like this (my husband just sat there shaking his head saying "I'd send it back") My only complaint and the reason for only 4 stars is not 100% the fault of the product - the hole in our table will not fit both the umbrella and the (fairly thick) power cord so the cord has to be out on the table and looks a little sloppy. Our table could handle a standard power cord, or a light string, but not this (see the cord coming out of the bottom of the plug unit? It's not thin,.Love the extra sockets, though.

Beautiful Soft Light
I love this umbrella lighting. It gives a lovely soft light while giving plenty of light to see what you are eating. It is a little tricky getting them on correctly but not difficult. I learned after doing several sets. Just make sure you put all the zip ties through the clips the same way, then put five clips on each rib, put the light cuff around the top of the pole. Don't unwind all the lights. Line up each string then take one and unwind and lay the string onto the clip all the way to the end of that rib. Repeat with the rest. You can adjust the string before you snap the clips. It is well worth the effort. Highly recommend these. Update 06/2020: I love these lights but I have to say they do not last very long. After several seasons at least two ribs of lights stop working and there is nothing I can do to make them work. If I run my finders down the string once in a while they will pop on for a short time. So frustrating! I had a new out of the box set on hand to replace the set that totally stopped working thinking I didn't mind spending an hour and a half to install the new set. Btw, I agree with the comment it's best to have a detailed oriented person do the job because it is tedious. Anyway, after working meticulously I turned on the lights and two strands didn't work...new out of the box! I cannot figure out why they don't work because they worked before I hung them. I am guessing because you are instructed to twist the strands after you hang them to shorten the length to adjust to your rib, maybe it does some damage to the wire. Now I have a brand new set on the umbrella with six out of eight working. Just fair warning....

The Good. The patio lights work exactly as advertised. Couldn't be happier with the product. The lights are both elegant and fun ... you get a lot of light, but not too much. Perfect for summer evenings. The Bad. I submitted my order on June 9th and got NO confirmation from Blue Star until the 14th! Needless to say, I was quite concerned that my money went down a black hole. My lights did not arrive until the 19th. "What's the big deal?" you might reasonably ask ... well, the big deal is that you pay something like $17 to ship something that weighs about two pounds! For $17, I expect to order something on the 9th, get an e-mail confirming my order by NO LATER than the 10th, and have the lights in my hands within four business days ... TOPS. Blue Star, great product, but I have to give you only three stars because you have A LOT to work on with regard to how you deal with customers over the Internet.
