Great fit for my 9 yr old athletic son. Perfect to avoid “chaffing” if you live near the beach!!!

It’s a snug fit around the hips and longer legs, just past the knee caps.

good quality bad velcro fly

Purchased these shorts for my 8 year old son. Quality wise these are very nice. My biggest con and I am sure my son would say the same thing is the velcro fly. The velcro fly consists of two small squares, one at the top of the fly where a button would be and one at the bottom of the fly. Therefore if you are sitting just right or wearing a shirt not long enough to cover the fly area you could risk flashing your underwear in between the pieces of velcro if not being careful. That being said my son decided he wanted to wear these shorts to school recently. That morning he had come downstairs to get ready for school I asked him again if he was sure that he wanted to wear those shorts to school as I didn't think the velcro was that sturdy. He insisted that he wasn't worried about the velcro not being sturdy.. Off to school he went... That afternoon he came home from school and said he never wanted to wear the shorts to school again. He said the top velcro square kept detaching with every movement starting with when he got on the bus to go to school. Unfortunately he said he wasn't the first person to notice, he said his friend quietly told him that his fly was open and he was exposing his Spiderman briefs. He said it was a nightmare getting off the bus as he was trying to hold his lunch box, a poster for his school project all the while trying to hold his shorts up and re attach the velcro. He said it took a few minutes but felt like a lifetime of embarrassment. So then to start his day he had a presentation to give to his class. As he was was walking back to his seat once again that same top piece of velcro would end up detaching exposing his Spiderman briefs to his entire class. He described the situation as mortifying. He said this continued happening constantly throughout the day and that he couldn't wait to get home and change out of the shorts. All this being said he will keep the shorts but says he will never wear them to school again.
