Pretty & Toasty for the Tush!

The media could not be loaded. Installation was easy; only issue I had was getting the old toilet seat off! This one has a clever way to ensure the bolt is completely tightened. I struggled a little with that too, only because my wrench sucks and the angle was awkward, and there wasn’t enough room for me to look at what I was doing. So I installed it blind. Not too bad, if I do say so myself! I differ from some of the other reviewers regarding two aspects: 1) Heat setting: pretty much everyone is saying they have it set to level 2, and level 3 is too hot. Hmm. I’ve only had it installed for a few hours, but I didn’t find level 2 quite warm enough. Does this thing need that much time to fully heat up?? We’ll see. 2) Blue light: I think some people find it too strong/bright. Personally, I think it’s a beautiful shade of blue and the brightness is absolutely perfect. My only other comment is connecting the power. I bought this for two different bathrooms. In one, the outlet is within reach of the toilet. The cord is ugly, but I’ll figure out a way to secure it to the wall so that it isn’t as much of an eyesore. In the other bathroom, the power source is on the opposite side of the bathroom about 6 feet+. So for this one, I’ll have to run a power cord across the vanity. Again, with some cable management to not minimize the ugly. Personally, I don’t mind this too much and don’t really want to get any fancier by getting special electrical configuration just for my toilet. Dunno. At least that’s how I feel about it right now. All in all, I’m happy with this purchase and look forward to my future trips to this new throne - particularly in these winter months. Hope this helps!!

Plug In & Test BEFORE Installing

Suggest plugging in and testing before installing this toilet seat. We did not, and did not realize where the light was situated in the back of the seat. So we installed the seat too far back and thought the light was broken... No, we just had the seat too far back! So first make sure all lights and heat work, set the seat on top and figure out best place to situate the seat for maximum light, THEN unplug and install it. Since S.O. bought the seat mainly for the light, glad we figured it out. Thanks to other reviewers who pointed the light issue out - we were about to pull the seat off and return it!

Never go back

I got hooked on heated toilet seats after traveling to South Korea and Japan for vacation. Both countries have the super sophisticated toilets with heat, bidet etc. Never got used to all the other features but I got to really like not having a cold toilet seat. My bathroom happened to have an GFCI electrical outlet within reach of the toilet (this may not be common) so installation took less than 5 minutes. The controls are simple, 3 heat settings, I have it on the lowest and it is already very satisfying. I don't really need the light but it is a nice feature. Best endorsement, my wife said she didn't want it and I shouldn't waste the money, now she loves it!

Bolts missing from 2 shipments

This seems to be a fairly decent product based on the look and feel but I have not been able to install it because the bolts are missing from the box. I had a second one shipped and they are missing from that box too!. The bolts are proprietary so one cannot simply reuse the bolts from the seat it would be replacing. Update. Raising my rating to 4 stars. I contacted Bemis Customer Service and gave them the opportunity to send me the missing bolts directly before I went ahead and returned the item for the second time. They did not hesitate at the chance. The correct bolts arrived within a few days and I am happy to say the seat seems to be very good quality. The seat has a soft close lid which is almost silent, a blue LED which lights the bowl making it easy to see at night for those of us with poor aim, and the heater makes the set very warm even on the lowest setting. Now only time will tell if this will eventually get upgraded again to 5 stars. If it lasts more than 5 years I will indeed upgrade it again. Update 2. It has been approximately 3 weeks since I installed this seat. I am annoyed to announce it stopped working properly today!. The mechanism which controls the soft closing is preventing the seat from being put up without having to hold it for a few seconds. When I groggily stumble into the bathroom in the early hours of the morning, I just want to be able to put the seat up without any thought or effort so this is a showstopper. Now that I have used the seat for a few weeks I can provide additional feedback. 1. The lowest temperature of the seat is too warm. I think most people would want the seat to just take the cold sting away, and not to be almost uncomfortably warm. Bear in mind I live in Southern California where it doesn't get too cold so that may be a factor in my case. I cannot imagine how hot it must get on the maximum setting, I dare not try it! 2. The led light is too bright. Again in the early hours of the morning when you just want to get in and out of the bathroom ASAP, you don't want anything to make you less groggy. I find the light so bright it wakes me a little. As a man that stands up to urinate, the movement of the water in the bowl along with the bright led creates a rippling light effect which is not conducive to staying sleepy so you can get back to sleep immediately. Hopefully Bemis takes note of these shortcomings and develops a better quality product in future...

Fast delivery, very easy to install (5-8minutes).

I have read hundreds of reviews till I have decided to get this model. What I can say is that the negative things that people were talking about it, do not apply for MY product. The blue light is bright enough, we keep it first level for heat (it is hot enough), the lid does not come down when you put it up, fits perfectly with a round toilet...Well the plug is on the left, the home builders do not know yet to put an outlet behind the toilets for this, maybe in the future. I got two and the third is on the way...
