Needs a rocker type foot lever!
A couple of things; The foot lever will drop and slide the bolt in by gravity. After installation, I went outside, the lever dropped by shock and gravity, and locked me out. If Belwith put in a spring loaded rocker this would be prevented. The fine thread machine bolts should have a hard metal threaded recieving hole, or you should use self taping metal screws. Modern patio doors and sliding windows are aluminum and will not hold a fine thread. This installation was the second replacement for the same lock that worked fine at first but then started locking itself as well.

Effective
This new version is a replacement of the efficient lock which worked for me for a couple decades. The old lock's internal mechanism began to fail and did not allow the bolt to retract completely. This new lock is an update. The die details are a little different, but the attachment screw holes are identically placed, which means the replacement was extremely easy. No measuring or new drilling. Worry free and effective.

Only 2 of 3 Actually Even Worked
These things are a poor imitation of the Belwith Patio Door Lock that worked fine for me for 25 years. They are cheaply made and one of them wouldn't even move the lock pin with the lever. The key also didn't work. Don't waste your money.

Great Value and Looks Good
The old door lock had deteriorated over time and I had some difficulty finding a replacement locally. This lock was a perfect match and a great value. It looks good, is made of solid construction and was easy to install.

You get what you pay for
Think of this as an adjunct to the patio door latch, not as a high security lock. If a burglar really, really wants to get inside, he won't bother with the locks and latches: He'll simply heave a brick through the glass and step inside. The entire lock is made of inexpensive pot metal, which is brittle and will eventually crystallize and crack. "You get what you pay for", as the saying goes. I installed one on my aluminum sliding patio door in the mid-1990s and when I recently wanted to activate it, found that the thumb lever flopped up and down loosely. Upon removing the lock from the door frame I discovered it had a rattle, and after a bit of shaking a small chunk of plated metal fell out. It had been a tang on the bolt, which would normally be engaged by the lever to move the bolt back and forth. The bolt still worked by pushing and pulling it with my fingers, but the key lock functionality was gone. At least these items are cheap and still available, so I'll probably replace it with another one of the same kind. It will save me the trouble of drilling and tapping new holes in the door frame.

As expected to replace old worn out one.
Well satisfied.

Loose lock
This lock doesn’t hold tight and a little jiggle of the door unlocks the lock

It came apart easily as we tried to install it
Though the same product name as the one we've had on our sliding door for almost 25 years, this is nowhere near it's quality. It came apart easily as we tried to install it. Pretty disappointing, as the older one was great, and this is a piece of junk. Don't waste your money!
