This is a good cane; I have more than one because I don't want to be without one.
I have one issue with the cane, though. The base can unscrew from the shaft of the cane and come off, from leaning on it when I turn or pivot. I haven't been hurt from this (yet), but to fix this I bought some Thread Tape (aka Plumbers Tape) and wrapped it around the thread so there is a snug fit when I reattached it. This is an inexpensive fix, and adds to my security when using the cane. The light is great, at night and in case of a power outage. Also: it will stand on its own...with no batteries in it.

Really like this cane
OK-- I was somewhat apprehensive about buying this product after reading its reviews, but for the price (under $12.00) I figured "what the heck". I have 'Prime', so in two day it was delivered in pristine condition. I am pleasantly surprised with my new 'Trusty Cane'. I had no problems putting it together, and it definitely works as advertised. Now, to address some of the review complaints of other customers and provide some info. about the cane. One reviewer complained about the cane falling apart. The only ways that this could happen is either the elastic band broke or was not attached properly during assembly. Other than that, the cane holds together firmly and is quite stable. Next problem relates to the cane falling over when left to stand alone. Granted that it will topple on carpet and other soft surfaces, it does just fine on flat hard floors such as you would find in most stores. I really didn't purchase this product for its stand alone qualities. Actually I wanted a cane with a large enough footprint so that it wouldn't dig in deeply on soft outdoor surfaces such as wet lawns or snow. Haven't used it on snow, but it works well on wet grass. It does require a bit of cleaning afterwards however (not a problem). The last major complaint relates to the lights on the handle and in particular the placement of the switch. I think it all comes down as to how you grip your cane. I have large hands, and yet have no problems inadvertently turning the lights on or off. I grip the cane a little behind the switch and do not rest any fingers on top where the switch is. I would say however that a little stronger spring in the switch would be of benefit, since it does turn off/on rather easily. Lastly, for your info., I would say that this is not a cane for really tall individuals. I am 6ft. 1in and I had to stretch out the adjustment to the next to last setting to be comfortable. This would indicate that a person of 6ft 2in would probably be the max. height for the 'Trusty Cane. All and all, I really like this cane, and am finding it very useful.

the cane is well constructed of reasonably good material, and is quite sturdy
Got this for my 93 year old mother and have waited for some time to write this review. Firstly, the cane is well constructed of reasonably good material, and is quite sturdy. The fit and finish of the parts are fine as well. She does walk well with it but has had difficulty getting used to the three cup foot. She says it feels "different". There are some issues that come up each time she uses it, firstly the cane does not stand well on carpeted surfaces even fairly low pile ones. Doctor's waiting room carpets are the worst. Secondly, she invariably turns the light inadvertently. Lastly, she finds it difficult to hang it from her rolllator due to lack of some kind of hook, the lanyard doesn't work for her. She still uses it when we go out for reasons only known to her.

Good Product
The cane is great. The first one I got had a defective screw that would not let me get in the battery department for the light. However, thank goodness for Amazon that makes their sellers stand behind their products. Return was easy and fast so I only took off one star for the defective screw after all that can happen with anything. The second one I got was great my elderly mother-in-law loves it and it made her life much easier. It does what it says it does!

Don't buy for the light
I have now used the cane for two weeks after knee surgery. I loved the light and used it during the first week when getting up at night. It now has a short because the light only works sometimes and then shuts off very quickly. The cane by itself is great. I love that the end tip has a little give and makes walking very natural. Trying to get a proper gate is essential when recovering from knee replacement.

In my opinion, it's not worth the money
The price has gone down but, in my opinion, it's still not worth the money. I do like the lights but the switch is on the top and the lights turn on much too easy. The lights are LED so I'm not so worried about the batteries (not included) but I do expect the switch to wear out prematurely. Before today, I might have given a LITTLE better rating but today, after less than a month, the whole tip unit started separating from the cane. I'll probably have to put some tape on it to hold it in place. Now I'm not even sure it's safe! I think better canes are available for less money. I paid about $32.00 for mine and I expected more quality. I'm not even sure it's worth the current price of $24.00. It certainly is not worth more than $32.00 that I paid! I just noticed in one review that his cane came in a carrying case. I got no carrying case with mine. Also, his review was posted in Jan. I wonder if he would still give it a high rating today? Update: The cane is less than 2 months old now. The springs in the tip squeak. The cane is suppose to stand on its own. Mine fell because it is top heavy and now the light does not work. The handle on the cane is apparently painted black and the paint is peeling off showing the white plastic underneath. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!

Best cane I have found
I have owned two of these that I gave to people in need. They love them for the mobility and stability that the canes gives. I bought a third just to have on hand for the next person in need.
